The Best Year…02

Quidditch Try-outs

They woke to Fred and George's hollers. "Whoo hoo!" yelled Fred.

"Harry putting the mo-oves on Kayla!" George yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Wow Harry!" a Gryffindor sixth year that Harry knew by sight and not by name yelled.

"Wow, Harry. You haven't even been here a day and you've already got a girlfriend!" Lee Jordan said in awe.

With all of the commotion, all of the Gryffindors came down to the Common Room to see what had happened. Alexandria came down in her pajamas. She had on short shorts and a tank top. She looked around to see Kayla and Harry (who was blushing very darkly by now) sitting on the couch with lots of Gryffindors crowding around them. She looked around to see Oliver Wood staring at her. He caught her eye and smiled. She blushed and went down to Kayla. "What happened?" Alexandria said.

"Nothing happened!" Kayla and Harry yelled but no one seemed to be listening to them.

After all of the commotion had died down, Kayla went up to Alexandria and said, "Hey, we have to go find Oliver. We need to try out for Quidditch!"

"Alright," Alexandria said as they went up to their dormitories to change.

"Whew! Hey Alexandria!" Angelina Johnson said.

"Hey!" Alicia Spinnit said as she landed from her regular Saturday Quidditch practice. "Are you looking for Oliver? Where's Kayla?"

"Oh, she's going to be here later. Yea, where is he?" Alexandria inquired as Angelina and Alicia started to giggle.

"What?" Alexandria asked looking at them.

"He's probably putting cologne on or something! HAHAHA!" Angelina burst out laughing and had to hold on to her broom for support.

    "What?" Alexandria asked again.

After they calmed down, Angelina said, "Oliver likes you, Alex."

"WHAT?" Alexandria exclaimed surprised. "Why is that funny?"

"Because, we've known Oliver lots longer then you and…he just…always has his mind on Quidditch. He's never liked anyone before," Alicia explained. "It's always Quidditch, Quidditch, Quidditch with him."

"He doesn't like me…how do you know?" Alex asked. (A/N: I'm going to be calling Alexandria, Alex now because it takes too long to type Alexandria!)

"We heard him talking in his sleep…he keeps talking about you. And, did you see him when he saw you in your pajamas?" Alicia burst out laughing again.

"That might not mean that he likes me like that!" Alex said.

"And…" Angelina continued, "He told us!" Angelina exclaimed and then put her hands over her mouth. "Ohhh…I wasn't suppose to say that…" she continued.

Alex was awestruck. Then, she asked, "How did you hear him talking in his sleep?"

"Oh…well, we didn't hear him but Fred and George went in there for something and heart him not saying, but moaning the name 'Alex' and you're the only Alex any of us knows!" Alicia explained as Oliver came up to where they were standing. "Oh…hi Oliver," Alicia said giggling.

"Hi Alicia, Angelina," Oliver said to them. "Hey Alex," he said smiling. This made Alicia and Angelina laugh even harder and Oliver gave them a shut-up look. They got the hint and shut-up immediately.

"Well, we'll be taking off now," Alicia said to Oliver as her and Angelina took off on their brooms leaving Oliver and Alex alone.

"Well, where is your friend?" Oliver asked Alex as they went to get their brooms.

"She said that she would meet us at the Quidditch Pitch later, she had to help Harry with something," Alex explained as they mounted their brooms.

"Wow!" Oliver exclaimed looking at Alex's broom.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" Alex asked nervously.

"No, you're face is beautiful," Oliver said. (Alex could have sworn that she heart two familiar giggles somewhere nearby but she decided to ignore it.) "But look at your broom!" Oliver said quickly changing the subject. "It's a Firebolt!"

"Yeah…my mum and dad got it for me when we moved from America to here…" Alex explained hoping that she didn't sound too stupid.

"I might just let you on the team because you have a Firebolt!" Oliver said laughing as they kicked off from the ground and flew to the Quidditch Pitch.

When they landed, Alex said, "Wow, this is a lot bigger then what they had at my old school," she said in awe.

"Really?" Oliver asked her. (Alex heard the two same, familiar giggles again.)

"Yeah…" Alex said as their eyes locked.

"Well," (There were the two giggles again!) Oliver said, "What position do you play?"

"Chaser," Alex said quickly. Then, she thought, 'I am going to kill Angelina and Alicia.'

"Okay, since I'm keeper, try to score on me," Oliver said as he took his position by the Quidditch goals.

Alex got the Quaffle and did lots of zigzags and dives until she reached Oliver and scored on him.

"Wow…" Oliver said in awe but he quickly recovered. "I was just letting you score. To get your confidence up."

"Really?" Alex asked as she picked up the Quaffle and scored a few more times.

"Okay, now I'm going to have to really start playing," Oliver said suddenly getting     more serious then he was before.

"Ohhh…" Alex said pretending to be intimidated. She picked up the Quaffle and threw it right at Oliver who blocked it.

"See…" Oliver said looking very pleased with himself.

"I let you have that one…" Alex said grinning. "Just to get your confidence up."

About fifteen minutes later, they landed and Oliver said that she had made the team.

"Whoo hoo!!!!!" came two shouts from behind them. It was Alicia and Angelina. "Yeah!!!!!!!"

Oliver laughed and said, "Why are you two there?"

"We wanted to see if she was any good…and she is cause she can score on YOU!" Alicia teased. "Well, we're off…for real now. Bye! Congratulations!"

"We have another chaser! WHOO HOO!!!!" Angelina screamed.

Then, Oliver asked, "Can I ride on your Firebolt?"

"Uhhh…sure!" Alex said handing him the broomstick.

Oliver had been up in the air when Kayla walked onto the Quidditch pitch. "Hey!" she yelled to Alex as Oliver was zigzagging around the goal posts screaming, "Come on Marcus! Try and get one past me now!"

"Hey!" Alex said to Kayla. She told her all what Angelina and Alicia had said to her and Kayla said, "Oh my God!"

Right then, before they could say anything else, Oliver landed next to them smoothly and said, "You ready to try out, Kayla?"

"Yeah…" she said as Oliver got off the broom. "Give me that broom."

"Don't you have your own?" Oliver said clutching the Firebolt as if he didn't want to let it go.

"Yes but I was walking around the lake with Harry and I didn't have time to go up to the Common Room to get it," Kayla explained.

"Can't you use mine?" Oliver asked. "Do you have to use the Firebolt?"

"Yes Oliver! I have a Firebolt too!" Kayla said getting slightly annoyed.

Alex giggled as she took the broom from Oliver (who looked fairly disappointed) and gave it to Kayla.                         "Thanks Alex," Kayla said. Then, she turned to look at Oliver and said, "I play Keeper."

Then, Oliver said. "Okay, you two go up and Alex is going to try and score on you."

"Okay," she said as she mounted the broom and zoomed to the Quidditch goal posts.

"I need your broom," Alex said to him, picking up the broom and zooming up there.

A quarter of an hour later, Oliver signaled them to come back down. Alex had scored some and Kayla had blocked some. They had both made the team.

"How did you block those?" Oliver asked Jessica.

"Oh…I know her secret," Kayla said. Right then, Alex kicked her in the shins and both started to giggle.

"Oh crap! I don't want to walk all the way back to school. I had to go and not get my broom," Jessica said as she started to walk back up to the castle.

"Here, you can use mine," Alex said, handing her the broom.

"Gee! Thanks, Alex. Are you sure though?" Kayla asked.

"Yeah, I had too much to eat anyways. I need the exercise," Alex said as Kayla mounted and took off.

"I don't think so. You look fine to me," Oliver said, hovering a few feet from the ground.

"Gee thanks," Alex said as she turned almost as red as Ron's hair.

"Here, hop on. We can both ride my broom," Oliver said patting the broom.

"Okay!" Alex said as she mounted the broom and took     hold of Oliver's waist.

They flew in silence until they got back to the castle. The first thing they heard as they started to land were hollers from Alicia, Katie, and Angelina who obviously, Kayla had told what had happened. "Our plan worked!" Alicia said to them.

"What plan?" Katie asked confused. "I just got here."

"We told Kayla to forget her broom and ask for Alex's so her and Oliver could ride together!" Angelina explained as Oliver and Alex landed a few feet away from them.

Alex thanked Oliver as he muttered something that Alex couldn't understand and walked off.

She went over to her teammates and said, "What the hell did y'all do?"

"Just…helped you and our dear Ollie along," Alicia giggled.

    "Ollie?" Kayla asked.

"Yeah, that is what the girls on the team call him. So, you two have to start calling him Ollie now. K?" Katie explained as Oliver walked into view.

    "Savage!" he yelled.

Alex went over to him and said, "Yes, Ollie?" she grinned.

"Wannagototheballwithme?" Oliver asked looking down at the ground.

"What?" Alex asked, even thought she thought that she knew what he was asking.

"Wannagototheballwithme?" he said. He didn't slow down at all.

    "Slower please…" Alex grinned.

"Want to go to the ball with me?" Oliver asked slowly looking into her eyes.

"What? Say it slower…" Alex joked. "Just kidding! On one condition…"

"What?" Oliver asked smiling at her.

"What's my first name?" Alex challenged.

Oliver's face fell. "Ummm…well, you're not Alicia, Angelina, or Katie," he said thoughtfully rubbing his chin.

"Oh so you know their names and not mine…" Alex teased.

"Shut-up Alex, I'm trying to think," Oliver said.

"Oliver!" she yelled loud enough for half the people to hear and turn around.

"Alex! I'm trying to think!" Oliver said. "Ohhh…" he had just gotten it. "Alex! See I knew…" he said.

"Yep, so when is the ball?" Alex asked smiling up at Oliver.

"Tonight, at seven o'clock," Oliver said as they started heading up to Gryffindor Tower.

They opened the portrait of the Fat Lady and Alex saw the clock on the mantelpiece. "Oh my God! It's four o'clock! I have to go get ready!" Alex exclaimed as she ran up to the girls' dormitory.

"Why do you need three hours to get ready?" Oliver yelled up after her.

"You want me to look good, don't you?" she asked turning around, facing Oliver, whose face was half lit by the fire.

"You already look beautiful," Oliver smiled.

"Typical boy response…" Alex rolled her eyes playfully and ran down the stairs to give Oliver a hug. "I'll see you here at seven."

"So, how did Quidditch try-outs go?" Harry asked Kayla as they started walking up to Gryffindor Tower.

Kayla told them everything, about their plan to get Oliver and Alex on the same broom and everything.

"No way! Oliver likes someone! Wow! I never thought I'd see the day where Oliver likes something besides Quidditch!" Harry laughed.

"Yeah…" Kayla responded. They entered Gryffindor Tower to see Oliver, looking up at the girls' dormitory. "Ollie?" Kayla said with a smile.

"Oh, so Angelina, Katie and Alicia have already told you about that, huh?" Oliver laughed.

"Yep…" Kayla said eyeing the clock on the mantelpiece. "Oh my God! It's four fifteen! I have to go get ready?" she said running up the stairs.

"Why do you need three hours to get ready?" Harry yelled up after her.

"Shut-up, Harry!" she yelled as she opened the door. She turned around and blew a kiss to Harry.

"Women…" Oliver and Harry sighed together as they headed up to the boys' dormitories to sleep.
