Chapter one: With You
Sirius sighed as he walked into the cabins kitchen. Hermione had finally fallen asleep. Between the crying, the hugging, the fear, the running, the dodging of spells, she'd drained herself. He rummaged inside of the refrigerator.
"Gods," Sirius shook his head.
Since Voldemort had learned to track magic every time it was used, while here, Sirius and Hermione had to reframe from using any. They had to stay here for the time living like muggles. Hermione wouldn't mind it as much, but to Sirius it was hell. He wasn't use to the muggle ways and he'd tried to learn about them as much as possible before this fiasco.
He still remembered Remus, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, and Snape grouped together in the common room of Gryffindor, planning Hermione's escape. Voldemort was after Hermione Granger, the poor lass. When he'd found out the reason he was shocked, for it seemed that Voldemort had grown an obsession with young Granger. Whether it was her intelligence, her beauty, her power, which had been nourished over her years at Hogwarts and she'd, now in her seventh year, been the second most powerful witch there, next to Harry.
"No! Please!" a sleeping Hermione cried out.
Sirius glanced into the common room of the cabin. He saw Hermione crying out and thrashing. He ran to her.
"Hermione!" he said as he sat next to her on the couch.
He smoothed his hand over her hair. Sweat had gathered to her eyebrows, which were scrunched in fear. He gently shook her awake.
"Sweetie? It's a bad dream. Wake up."
She was still thrashing, caught up in the nightmare. Then suddenly she screamed, jerked up awake now, and went into Sirius's arms. Her arms wrapped tightly around his neck, sobbing, his went around her waist pulling her to him as he lay down with her resting on his shoulder.
"It's going to be okay," he soothed, running his hand down her back.
Hermione lifted her face. Her eyes red and puffed with tears as she shook her head no.
"It will never be all right. Not until you let him have me! Just let him have me, it'll be easier. He'll kill me and I'm fine with that. At least you, my friends, the people that I love won't have to suffer anymore. Just let him take me," Hermione pleaded looking into Sirius eyes.
Sirius glared. "I've never known you to be a quitter. I'm disappointed in you young lady."
She'd cast her eyes down. "Don't talk to me as if I were a child in need of some discipline. Don't look at me as if I were an ignorant child!" she screamed the last part.
"You are being ignorant now. You of all people should know children aren't ignorant. Look to Harry and Ron how could they have done all that they've done as ignorant children when you all were in your first years," Sirius scolded then cursed himself.
She didn't need this from him, not now. He looked deeply into her eyes. She tried to look away, but Sirius grabbed her chin jerking it back to him.
"I'm nothing, I'm a no good ugly nobody," she cried.
"You're the bravest eighteen-year-old woman I've ever known. You incredibly smart, talented, beautiful. I can see why both Ron and Harry are in love with you. I understand why Voldemort is obsessed. You're a light to his darkness, you're something he can't have and he know that, which is why he wants you."
Hermione look disgusted as she found out why Voldemort was after her. "W- why would h-he, oh gods!"
"I-I'm sorry. I forgot I hadn't told you. I meant to tell you when you felt better."
"Is he in love with me?" Hermione asked looking so innocent and afraid.
Sirius didn't know what to say, so he just stared into her eyes giving her a sad smile and stroking her soft silky curled hair.
"Does he?"
"I don't know."
"Is he even capable of love!?" Hermione was going into hysterics. "GODS! Leave it to me to have the Dark Lord fall in love. Shows how good I am. I can't even get a real guy to even date me, but I can get this evil bastard to love me. I've never even been kissed! I'm ugly and worthless. What could he possibly want from me!?"
Sirius looked at Hermione shocked. "You've never been kissed?"
She jerked her head up. "I kind of don't think that's the point right now!"
He shook his head as if to clear it. "I don't believe it. You must have been driving the boys crazy at Hogwarts!"
Hermione rolled her eyes not knowing what he was talking about. "What?" she asked irritated.
"For them to see you every day in your perfect body, beautiful hair, fairy face and not once touch you, kiss you, ask you to be their girl, that's unbelievable. I'm even finding it hard not to touch you!" he spat out before he had time to think.
Slowly she lifted her eyes up to his. "Y-you are touching me. You're holding me."
Realizing the truth of this he jerked away, lifted her up, and got up from the couch. Pacing back and forth, irritated at himself for letting those words slip out.
"Sirius?" a soft gently voice penetrated his thoughts.
Slowly he turned. "What?"
She looked flustered and beautiful, despite the smudges of dirt scattered on her face and clothing. "I'm going to go get cleaned up."
Sirius let out his breath, which he'd been holding. He shook his head and watched her get up and walk to the bathroom.
"What the freaking hell is wrong with you Padfoot?" he yelled at himself in the mirror. "I feel like a damn hormonal teenager. Ya dirty bastard! Talking like that to a girl that's at least fifteen years younger than you."
"Problems Sirius?" popped a voice that was recognized as Remus Lupins'.
"Remus. How long do we have to stay here."
He smiled. "Until Voldy bitch stops sending people after Hermione."
Sirius stroked his chin thoughtfully and asked, "So is he after her because he loves her, or because he wants her powers ands obsessed?"
"I don't think it's love. I think it's obsession. Shit I don't know, but it's definitely one of those."
"I told Hermione. You know what she said? Can he even love? Well that and a load of bullshit she said about herself. That girl is really insecure."
Remus put a sad look on his face. "She is. I believe she has a right to be though. I remember the day she'd asked Draco Malfoy to the biggest dance of the year. It was in her fifth year. It was an awful night. He turned her down, followed by crude comments, laughed in her face and walked away."
"What the hell would she want to go with a Malfoy? Why didn't she ask Harry or Ron? You know they have a crush on her right?"
"I know. Had anyway. They just think of her as a sister now. It's a shame really. I think Harry would have been good for her. Even Ron, Ron could have added adventure and weirdness in her life, Harry had popularity and love for her. I think she'd found herself in love with Draco because he'd saved her when she had a fall from her broom. Terrible, terrible flier she is."
"Any news on anything?"
"Not really. You all ready know not to use magic, you can't leave, and I'll be bringing Hermione's bag of clothes that she dropped with this unexpected attack. Luckily we all ready packed this place with food. Oh and a blizzards coming this way. I suggest you take precautions."
"Is there anything you can do to keep the pipes from freezing?" Sirius asked looking towards the bathroom as the door opened.
"Not without magic and that's out of the option."
"Um Sirius? Oh hello Remus," Hermione smiled.
Sirius turned his head and gasped. She was dripping wet, wrapped only in a white terrycloth towel.
"What in gods name?" Sirius squealed.
"I don't have any clothes. I dropped my bag with that surprise attack."
"You didn't bring them did you Remus?" Sirius looked at him.
"No. 'I'll be bringing them' as I said indicates that I don't have them. Giver her some of you clothes!"
Hermione looked down at her toes. She shivered at the thought of wearing his clothes. She looked up again as Sirius, who'd gone into the kitchen, came back with a pair of bunny boxer shorts and a Hogwarts Quidditch sleep shirt.
"Um, bunny boxers Padfoot?" Remus lifted his eyebrows as he smiled at his friend.
Sirius shrugged. "What can I say? I have a thing for bunnies!"
He grinned sheepishly as he handed them to Hermione, but his grin disappeared as he realized her lips had turned blue.
"Why are you're lips blue? It can't be that cold in here."
"Well you aren't the one in a towel thank you very much!" she told him and went into the bathroom.
"Well, I'll be going," Remus informed his best friend.
Sirius jerked his head up in a response not taking his eyes away from the bathroom door in which Hermione had just gone into seconds before.
Remus smiled knowingly. "Sirius?"
He lifted his head up to look at Remus.
"Don't do anything stupid."
And he vanished.
"HEY! How come you can do that but nothing else with magic?"
"He's gone Sirius," Hermione's voice came from beside the bathroom door.
"I know," he said.
He looked up and nearly swallowed his tongue. She looked adorable in the oversized clothes. They engulfed her. Her cheeks were rosy from the scrub that had greeted them and she smelled of exotic wild flowers. It was the bath soap Harry had put in here when they'd been making this hide out. He'd said it was a present for her, that it was her favorite smell.
"I'll have to thank Harry for that soap. It's my favorite."
"I know."
Hermione lifted her eyebrow. "Oh."
She didn't bother asking him why he knew. She had an idea of how he knew. She walked over to him and stood right in front of him looking at their feet.
"Hermione about what I said," Sirius started to say.
"Kiss me!" she said and brought her body to his.
She wrapped her arms around him and placed her lips on his. She bit his lower lip causing him to gasp in pain and allowing her to take that advantage to slip her tongue into his mouth. Sirius moaned as he felt her curious tongue evade the inside of his mouth. He smashed her to him deepening the kiss for a second more and then threw her to the couch not following her, but standing over her gasping for control of his aroused body. It had been a brief, but intense kiss, and he'd been shocked by the intensity and he was worried. It had ignited his blood too fast too much and that was dangerous.
"Please Sirius. Take me away. Make my pain go away," she pleaded with him.
His eyes darkened with desire. "Hermione go to sleep."
"Why? Why are you denying it? I can see it in your eyes that you want me."
"Good night," he said walking into the other room.
Damn, for a girl who's never kissed she sure did it well.
"Sirius," he heard Hermione whisper. "You were my first kiss."
He knew he shouldn't be happy about that, but he was. Deep down he was and he'd keep it deep and buried if it killed him.
