Do all Things Happen for a Reason?

Damn fanfiction.net it won’t let me upload new chapters so I thought I’d take down the whole story and just repost how’s that sound?

Disclaimer: I don’t own anything except the plot. Everything else belongs to the great J.K. (although I wish I owned Remus)

Chapter 1: The Idea

Sirius and Lily (A/N: Lily’s helping) came through the portrait hole of Gryffindor tower in deep discussion. Sirius had something in his hand that he kept hidden behind his back.

The common room was empty except for three other people: James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, who were sitting in the corner of the room waiting for there two friends.

“What did you guys want to talk about this late?” Remus asked, suppressing a yawn.

“I had a bloody brilliant idea! With T.L.’s help of course,” Sirius added, after receiving a death glare from Lily.

“Oh! Do tell! Do tell!” said James, acting like an excited first year. (A/N: They’re fifteen)

“Have you ever wondered what it’s like in the future?” Sirius said, pulling out the time turner and showing it to everyone.

“Are you suggesting –”

“ – that we go to – ”

“ – the future?”

“Exactly!” Sirius and Lily said at the same time. “So who’s in?”

“I am! It could be fun,” James said.

“Definitely! Like Prongs said, it could be fun!” said Remus excitedly. “What about you, Wormtail?”

Peter hesitated, “I don’t know guys,” he said slowly, staring at the time turner. “What if someone sees us?”

“ We’ll put the Ignore Us Charm on,” said James.

“I still don’t know,” said Peter. “No. I don’t think I’ll go.”(A/N: Good. That gets him out of the way. For now anyway)

“Your loss, man,” said Sirius, getting ready to perform the Ignore Us Charm.

He pulled out his wand and cast the charm on everyone except Rat Boy, er, I mean Peter, “Ingnarus!”

Peter left, ignoring his friends, as he wasn’t under the charm himself. Sirius took out the time turner and told everyone to hold on to the chain.

“How far into the future are we going, Padfoot?” James asked.

“How about… twenty years?” he said, getting ready to flip the hourglass.

“Yeah!” was the reply from the rest.

Sirius took a deep breath and turned the hourglass twenty times forward. All of a sudden the room seemed to just melt away into blackness. All they could see were each other. Then, a wailing seemed to fill their ears, almost like a banshees scream, though not as shrill. Their hands flew to their ears to block out the piercing screams. The time turner, forgotten, fell into the darkness with a shatter.

Then, slowly, very slowly, the screaming subsided, and the Gryffindor common room melted back into view.

“Uhhh,” Lily groaned. James, noticing she was about to collapse, caught her limp body just in time. (A/N: They’re dating, of course.)

“Thanks James,” she whispered. She was still conscious but was just a bit out of it.

“No problem,” he grinned, as he helped her stand up.

“Well, we’re definitely in the future,” came Sirius’ voice by James’ shoulder. “The room is a bit different.”

They looked around. It was true. The room was different. Not much, but enough to visibly see a change. The furniture was in different places, and the portrait of Godric Gryffindor that was usually there, telling students about what it was like in ‘his’ day, was nowhere in sight.

“Wow,” breathed Remus. “It’s like first year again, and we’re seeing this place for the first time!” (A/N: Have you ever been to a place were you’re so used to seeing it the way it is you don’t ever think it’ll change, and then you leave for awhile and come back and it’s changed so much you think your seeing it for the first time? I did, and I almost fainted too.)

“I know,” James said in awe.

“Who’s that?” Lily said, pointing to someone sitting near the fire and writing something on some parchment.

There was no one else in the room except this boy. He had black messy hair and glasses. Somehow, he looked remarkably like –

“Looks like you have a kid, Prongs,” Sirius said, as a wide smirk crossed his face.

James, Lily and Remus just stared dumbfounded at the boy. Finally James found his voice, “Oh-My-God!”
