Albus Dumbledore III

Story Summary:
It's the summer before Harry's fifth year. Voldemort is intent upon destroying him. Harry Potter and the Elvish Magic

Conclusion

Note: Due to several unfortunate circumstances, I will not be able to complete Harry Potter and the Elvish Magic and the subsequent stories in the manner I had planned. So as not to hold my readers wondering what happens, I have put the rest of the story into writing. This is a combination summarized narration and selected specific episodes, separated by asterisks. I regret for not being able to complete Harry Potter and the Elvish Magic in the manner it deserves. I may someday be able to return to fanfiction, which I've found to be a very fruitful genre to work with. Also, I'd like to thank all those people who reviewed. Without them I would never have brought this story to any form of completion.

Warning: this chapter contains a few themes at the beginning which warrant its being rated R. I apologize for any offence this may cause the reader.

After Harry, Ron and Hermione became members of the Order of the Phoenix, their lives changed dramatically. Their Time Orb sessions came to encompass the majority of each day as they lived it, peaking at hundred hour sessions while they aged only two hours. They included daily meetings with the other Order members, and work with other magical races. Harry was instrumental in the reestablishment of contact with the immensely powerful Zauberian dragons, who came to be fully involved with the Order, which turned out to be a very diverse organization.

The time that Harry found most fascinating, however, was the time spent in Elvish schools. To be with other Elves was an experience which he had been sorely lacking. As he, Ron and Hermione learned more and more of the vast body of Elvish magic, they became more and more aware of the power, honor and responsibility they were heirs to. One thing Harry realized was that even among Elves, disregarding their wizarding status, the trio remained unusual. They were all at the top of every class they took, generally breaking every record in a competitive environment with an elite group of students. Harry wondered as to the source of their huge abilities. He had a relatively short time to find out:

***

Harry sat back in the Gryffindor common room with Ron and Hermione. They had just completed the O.W.L.s. Although Harry, Ron and Hermione were by now hardened scholars with plenty of experience taking ridiculously advanced coursework, the O.W.L. exams took a great deal of effort, just as they did with anybody. Even so, they were optimistic about their results. This was perfectly understandable, considering the days of study they'd put in (one nice about being an Elf was that you could go without sleep for months if necessary).

As they sat, staring into the ever-present fire, they were aware of everything that was happening in the room behind them. This was a uniquely Elvish ability at which the three excelled. If necessary, they could have been aware of the motions and states of being of even the tiniest of subatomic particles. As it was, they only maintained a general awareness in case anyone came, because they needed to talk about what they had found.

After completing the exams, Harry had wanted to talk to Draco Malfoy briefly, to make sure he had recovered from the shock of the Death Eater meeting that had occurred three days previously. He had reached outwards with his Elvish sense of reality as he passed through the door of Greenhouse Four, but he couldn't find Draco anywhere. He scanned outwards, sensing every action of everyone within a ten mile radius in three dimensions, but Draco was not to be found. Harry reached out mentally to Ron and Hermione. They also could not find Draco. Because their Elvish sense had been known to falter slightly before, and it was possible that he was concealing himself, they decided to search the castle physically. As they walked back towards the castle, ostensibly commiserating about the difficulty of the exams, they divided up the castle and grounds and drew up a plan of action. As soon as they entered the castle they turned off together into a dark corridor. When no one could see them, they began searching as fast as they could go. Harry had been assigned the upper floors and the eastern half of the grounds. Every sense alert, he shot through the corridors, going so fast that no one could see him. He was, in fact, enhancing his body and brain magically, which was something that had become instinctive at the Elvish schools. As he moved, he slipped through the air in such a way so as to cancel out every current he made, so that no brush of apparently sourceless wind would betray him to any observer.

He shot through the castle, not finding Draco anywhere. He reached the top of the Astronomy Tower. In less than a millisecond he had executed the change to his Animagus form and used his now innate chameleonic abilities to blend in perfectly with his background. He could have used a Concealing Charm, but he was focusing all his magic on enhancing his senses. As he stood on top of the tower, he knew it would make no difference whether he searched more or not. He could sense all the way to Hogsmeade quite clearly. Draco was nowhere to be found. He changed back and hurried down to Gryffindor tower by leaping from the Astronomy Tower and climbing across the outside wall to enter through the common room window, after ascertaining that the common room was vacant. Ron and Hermione joined him moments later.

Where could he be? Harry asked.

Ginny's missing as well. Hermione said worriedly.

With Dumbledore with Dad at the Ministry, we'll need to find them on our own. Ron added.

Should we? Harry asked. They all knew exactly what he meant; the symbiosis they'd achieved enabled them to think like each other to a considerable extent.

Definitely, Hermione answered.

It'll work better if we do it together, Ron said. We'll be able to look faster. They reached out to each other even further, and then they leapt out of Hogwarts and began to skim across the surface of the planet, looking for anything that remotely resembled Draco, Ginny or Voldemort. Suddenly, they felt something. It was merely a thought fragment from a particular Death Eater, but it was about Ginny. As the three clenched their mental teeth at the nature of the thoughts the Death Eater was having, they followed him as he Apparated from Bristol to Australia. Suddenly, it was clear to them where Draco, Ginny and Voldemort were: at a meeting of all the Death Eaters a few miles outside of Melbourne. The objective of this meeting was quite clear: to execute Ginny and Draco. Without further ado, Harry, Ron and Hermione did the Elvish equivalent of Apparating, simultaneously magically leaving a note at the Order of the Phoenix headquarters about what had happened. The Vampire Ruby, watching all that happened, surreptitiously Apparated itself into Harry's pocket, neatly bypassing the Hogwarts wards as it did so.

Harry, Ron and Hermione appeared outside of Melbourne precisely where they'd meant to: in an area where they could see without being seen. Harry scanned the minds of the Death Eaters for their memories of what had happened; normally he didn't like to read minds, but in this case it was necessary.

Voldemort had discovered that Draco and Ginny weren't really loyal Death Eaters. Cruelly, he had devised a trap for them. As they had unwittingly come to the meeting, they had been captured. They had already suffered several bouts of the Cruciatus Curse. Voldemort had also managed to capture Eledh. Now, as she lay before him, bound and gagged, he kicked her and with magically enhanced strength broke several of her ribs. She refused to deign to show any reaction to this, lying in a manner which somehow remained dignified. Furious, Voldemort beckoned a young man forward. Harry didn't know him, but was horrified at the pure evil which was in him.

"Zikowsky," Voldemort said, in a voice which made Harry shudder (although Eledh appeared to be concentrating very hard on something) "how would you like to demonstrate that new method of treating female captives you and I discussed?" Zikowsky's otherwise handsome face (he'd removed his mask at Voldemort's further gesture) broke into a cruel smile.

"I'd be honored, my Lord," he said.

"Demonstrate, then, on Miss Malfoy here, if you please," Voldemort said, his pseudo-politeness a mockery of everything humanity stood for. Harry realized then why he never felt any compunctions about attacking Voldemort. The human Tom Riddle had become something entirely evil. Harry, realizing that such a thing could happen to a human being, became somehow afraid that such a thing could also happen to him. His thoughts were cut short, however, as he realized what Zikowsky was about to do. He had cast off his cloak and pulled his robes over his head. Underneath he had on only a simple shirt and shorts of tailored black silk. He pulled the shirt off over his head.

His skin was absolutely pale, much as Voldemort's. Looking at his face, Harry realized that he looked familiar. In fact, he strongly resembled Tom Riddle as he had appeared in the Chamber of Secrets. Harry's suspicions were confirmed as he used his reality perception to compare the genetic codes of Zikowsky and Voldemort. Zikowsky was one of Voldemort's offspring. He realized, then, that Zikowsky was a creation of Voldemort's, designed as a mockery of good. Even Zikowsky's body was based upon that of an Elf, as if to show that nothing was too good for Voldemort to imitate.

Again, Harry's attention was jerked back to the present as Zikowsky approached Eledh and Draco began struggling wildly. He stared at the area where Voldemort and Zikowsky were participating a terrible thing, frantically looking for a way to save Eledh. As Zikowsky approached Eledh, quite unselfconsciously naked, her eyes snapped open as she finally reacted. Vehemently whipped her head around to stare directly at Zikowsky, and he shot backwards at an incredible speed, finally being impaled on a rocky outcropping as Eledh's magic pushed him onto it.

It's time, Harry thought to Ron and Hermione, and they moved. The Death Eaters were arranged in a rough circle, with Voldemort and Eledh at one end, Draco and Ginny bound in the middle, and Harry, Ron and Hermione just outside the other end. Harry casually knocked out the Death Eater immediately in front of him and stepped into the circle. Ron and Hermione each took one side of the circle and moved along at a superhuman speed, incapacitating every single Death Eater as Harry walked towards Voldemort. Voldemort had drawn his wand and begun to lower it, but he stopped in amazement as Harry came at him. Harry's green eyes were locked onto Voldemort's red ones, and Voldemort could not look away.

"So, we have the great Mr. Potter, come to save us," he managed, his voice dripping with condescension. Harry, through his ability to sense emotions, knew quite well that it was an act. He simply continued walking, stepping around Draco and Ginny (who had finally managed to untie themselves), and came even closer. He brought all of his magic to hand, realizing that this was the only chance anyone would ever have to destroy Voldemort. He brought up his hands, and Voldemort laughed coldly. A surge of power shot through Harry, far more than he expected. It struck Voldemort and did what no Killing Curse, no ordinary wizard could do. Essentially, Harry obliterated him in more than the traditional sense. Not only did he destroy Voldemort's power, but he destroyed his very existence and his capacity to exist. Or, at least, he thought he did. For thousands of years, Voldemort essentially did not exist.

***

After that, Harry realized the answers to many of the things that had been puzzling him. Ginny, it turned out, had been forcibly inducted into the Death Eater cult. Bravely, she volunteered to spy for Dumbledore. Although he was reluctant to put her at risk, Dumbledore allowed it, searching for a way to counteract the spell Voldemort had put on her to force her to become a Death Eater. Even after his destruction, the only way to end the spell was to cast a spell of good on her, which took the form of an induction into the Order of the Phoenix. Draco was also inducted, and both of them were relieved that they had no longer had to bear the Dark Mark. As Snape no longer had to spy as a Death Eater, he was finally formally inducted as well. The Order of the Phoenix erased all bonds Voldemort held someone, including his symbol.

Draco, Eledh and Ginny were eager to hear about exactly how Harry, Ron and Hermione had defeated Voldemort. As they were sitting in Dumbledore's office, discussing it, the Vampire Ruby suddenly came to life again.

As you may have realized, Harry, it said in all their minds, including Dumbledore's, I did indeed assist you in defeating Voldemort. I gave you the little bit of extra power which you had not at the time developed yet needed to defeat Voldemort. You used my power strictly for good, and thus I see that you and your friends are ready to accept it fully. I have no wish to make any one of you into a copy of me by pouring too much of my power into you, and thus I will divide it evenly between the six of you. Do you accept? Harry had the impression that the Ruby really, really wanted to get to sleep again and that was why it was "talking" so fast. Of course, they all accepted the Ruby's power, and it drained it into them. Promptly, it fell asleep, and Harry hid it away until he could find a suitable place for it to sleep. The effect of the magic of the Ruby, which was fundamentally a creative force, was to grant lives of an Elvish span to Ginny, Eledh and Draco, as well as to generally increase their power.

Harry's last two years at Hogwarts were spent in total bliss. He, Ron and Hermione had each other, and they had Draco, Ginny and Eledh as well. As seventh years, Harry and Hermione became Head Boy and Head Girl. They excelled in all of their classes.

After graduating with record numbers of N.E.W.T.s and graduating with honors from the Elvish schools they were attending, the trio began their lives beyond Hogwarts. Harry and Hermione became married shortly after graduation, of course. However, they all decided to continue their studies in both the magical and Muggle worlds. Thus, they all attended Stonehenge University. At the same time, they attended several Muggle universities. Harry found playing around with time just enough to allow him to be several places at once led to several amusing occurrences, especially when he was on the athletic teams of two rival schools.

After about five years, during the course of which Harry, Ron and Hermione accrued an average of seven doctorates each, they all decided to return to Hogwarts. Professor McGonagall had decided to retire and went into advanced Transfiguration research with the International Federation of Wizards. Hermione became the next Transfiguration Professor. Harry became the next Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor, and Ron surprised everyone by becoming the Potions Professor after Snape left.

It was a period of great happiness for Harry. Dumbledore was rejuvenated as the threat of Voldemort was removed, and remained Headmaster. Harry continued work with the Order of the Phoenix. After stamping out the remaining Death Eater pockets, it devoted itself to exploration of other magical races, relatively few of which were known to wizardkind. Harry was instrumental in the creation of magical habitats under the sea, where witches and wizards interacted with magical creatures which had previously been unknown. Similar things were done on the Moon and several other planets.

However, Harry remained somewhat unhappy. Elves were becoming marginalized as witches and wizards took more of a modern role in society. Ron and Hermione suffered as well. Even though Draco, Ginny and Eledh remained (Ginny and Draco had married a few years after Harry and Hermione, and Ron and Eledh when she was 21 and he was 26), most of their friends died. Harry didn't realize just how much he missed Dean, Seamus and Neville until after they were gone. All six were nearly destroyed by grief as the Weasleys except for Ron and Ginny passed away. Harry in particular was hit hard by the loss of Sirius, Lupin and Hagrid. In fact, when three hundred years had passed and all six were teaching at Hogwarts, the only person who remained from the old days was Dumbledore. He somehow managed to retain his vitality, and his strange sense of humor was never diminished.

However, all things must come to an end at some point, and so did the time that they spent at Hogwarts. In the year 2390, Harry and Hermione's first child was born. Dumbledore lived only long enough to bless the child and then passed away. Harry and Hermione named the young boy Albus Dumbledore II. A few years later, they boarded the Silladem.

The adventures of Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Ginny and Eledh became legendary as the Elves came to a place where they truly belonged. No longer marginalized by the prejudices of wizarding society, they spread out through the galaxy. After serving as the Elvish King and Queen for centuries, Rubon and Maloriel passed the job on to Harry and Hermione.

As Harry bore the responsibility for the Elvish race, his absence of prejudice came to have paramount importance. As Elves came into contact with extraterrestrial races, it became necessary, when establishing a mutual rapport, to have a truly open mind, which was something at which Harry excelled.

For nearly ten thousand years, he ruled the Elvish kingdom. Harry and Hermione had other children, all of whom studied at Hogwarts, retaining their wizarding capabilities. It was a golden age of the Elves, as they peacefully spread love and order through the universe.

Then, a dark force arose again. It began as a vague fear of things unknown, a decline in the quality of the new relationships between various races. Harry knew right away what it was. He counteracted it as best he could, but he was not totally successful. Even so, the darkness appeared to temporarily recede. In the meantime, the lifetimes granted to Ginny, Draco and Eledh were completed, and within a few days of each other, they died. Harry, Ron and Hermione were devastated, but continued to live. Shortly afterwards, Harry and Hermione were thrilled to become grandparents as Albus Dumbledore III was born. Then, tragedy struck. The Darkness announced its presence by killing Albus Dumbledore II.

The trio knew what needed to be done. Harry and Hermione passed on the rule of the Elves to their daughter Molly, told her to take care of Albus, and along with Ron returned to Earth. They materialized outside of Hogwarts. It was during the summer, during the World Cup for Quidditch, and thus the grounds were entirely deserted. The three looked at the castle fondly. In ten thousand years, although allowing new levels of Muggle technology, it hadn't changed significantly. The grass on the lawn was greener than ever, and the lake sparkled. The idyllic scene was broken only by the reappearance of Voldemort.

***

Voldemort sneered.

"So, Mr. Potter, you thought you had finally defeated me?" He laughed coldly. "Hardly." He raised up his wand, but then Harry, Hermione and Ron aimed theirs.

"Perdo, perniciosus," they shouted together. A single jagged stream of blue light shot at Voldemort, striking him in the chest. It wasn't just present on the physical level, but also on the mental and magical levels. The effort to send that much power through so many dimensions killed Harry, Ron and Hermione, but it also destroyed Voldemort once and for all.

At the same time, about seven billion light-years away, Albus Dumbledore III felt it as his grandparents and godfather died. He sat down and sobbed. He was, at the time, alone in his bedroom.

"There, there, Albus," Harry said. Albus's head snapped up.

"You're dead, though, aren't you?" he said. It was a rhetorical question. Harry smiled sadly.

"Yes," he said, "I am. However, I will never truly leave you."

"I know," Albus said. The tone of his young voice showed his maturity and intelligence, both of which were far beyond his years.

"Before I go, though," Harry said, "there's one thing I need to give you. Remember, you are a wizard as well as an Elf, and it's time for you to go to Hogwarts."

"I've never been to Earth," Albus said, trying to focus on something else than that his grandfather was dead. Harry smiled.

"I realize that you find the idea of me being dead somewhat disturbing," he said. "Remember, death is, to the well-organized mind, merely the next great adventure." Albus smiled, realizing how well Harry had read him.

"I don't suppose my namesake came up with that one, did he?" he asked.

"He did," Harry said. "Here." He took his wand from his pocket and handed it to Albus. As soon as it landed in his hand, Albus' fingers were pulled to it as if by magnets.

"Good-bye," Harry said, and disappeared. The hairs on the back of Albus' neck stood straight as magic swept through the air.

"It begins again," Hermione whispered as she took Harry's arm. They set off, smiling, to their next destination. The holographic generator in Albus' room signaled that there was a message for him. He ordered it to be displayed.

"Dear Mr. Dumbledore," the letters read,

"We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry..." Albus needed no time to make a decision. He stepped up to the keyboard, his long, strong hands flying over it. It took approximately one third of a second to compose and send his reply.

"Dear Professor Zukunft," he wrote,

"I enroll with honor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I am currently unaware as to how to enter 'Diagon Alley' to purchase my school supplies. Am I correct in assuming that the entrance still lies behind the Leaky Cauldron? I will report, as instructed, to Teleport Station 9 3/4 on 21.09.12001 at 11:33:44 (standard Earth calendar).

Sincerely yours,

Albus Dumbledore III."
