There are new members to the Quidditch team, and their identities are the main reason for the title of this chapter. Harry starts taking Ancient Runes. Harry, Ron and Hermione send letters to Sirius, who sends letters back. Sirius sends them something that's been in Harry's family for a long, long time. Does it have a role in what happens to the Death Eaters? Read on to find out.

The first Prefect meeting is called to order. Harry tries to find out Hermione's other Animagus form. Harry "reads" Draco Malfoy's thoughts in Cyrillic letters, and discovers something very interesting.

Harry and Hermione go to Dumbledore's office, and discover a new way to get in without previously knowing the password. They find out what Malfoy's been up to. Voldemort is his usual evil self, having caught Karkaroff. We find out something interesting about vampires and the Vampire Ruby. Ginny does something, and what it is won't be clarified until later chapters. Ron discovers that they have the power of telepathy, and also discovers Malfoy's secret.

Harry, Ron and Hermione discover each other's second Animagus forms while in a cave. Harry and Hermione nearly knock each other out while snogging, but Dumbledore stops them in time. The Vampire Ruby emerges as a character, and we find out its history. Harry also begins to become corrupted a bit (temporarily) by the opportunity to get more power.
