CHAPTER 12

After several more hours of boredom, Draco returned to the room with dinner, and a plan.

"Okay," Draco started, as he took a bite of bread. "Here's the plan. I will go to Elin to ask him to come to the dungeon to break the spells and enchantments for me. I will tell him that I am ready to kill Hermione. You three, of course, will be following behind me in the Invisibility Cloak. Once we are in the dungeon, we will unlock the cage and take Hermione back up to the room," Draco finished.

"That's a good plan, Draco, but what do we do once Hermione is out?" Harry asked.

"Well, er, I never thought about that," Draco replied nervously.

"Great. We can get her out, but we have no way to get back to Hogwarts! We'll be stuck at this wretched school forever!" Ron said in a panicked tone.

"Oh Ron, calm down! We'll figure something out!" Ginny said sharply.

Draco shook his head. "Let's just worry about getting her out of the dungeon first."

                    **********

When the time had arrived, Draco led the three cloaked Gryffindors out of his room and towards Elin's room. Draco knocked softly on Elin's door.

"Who is there?" Elin growled.

Draco cleared his throat. "It's Malfoy. I wish to be taken to the dungeon to Herm....I mean, the Mudblood."

Elin opened the door. "Ah! Master Malfoy! What good timing! We were just having a meeting to discuss you and the killing of the mudblood! We shall all come to witness the killing. Come now there is no time to waste!" Elin said, pushing Draco back so the young Death Eaters could exit from his room.

Draco's body turned to ice. How would they be able to get Hermione out with all those people in the room?

Draco had no time to ponder this question, because Elin had grabbed his sleeve and pulled him towards the exit of the dormitory. He broke free and was able to drop behind the group and talk with Harry, Ginny and Ron.

"Draco! What are we going to do now?" Ginny whispered furiously.

Draco leaned forward and answered Ginny's question. "I don't know. That's why I'm glad Harry is here. Harry has defeated the Dark Lord four times, so I think that a group of teenage Russians and Bulgarians should be easy work," he finished with a smile.

Although Draco couldn't see it, Harry smiled as well.

CHAPTER 13

Once Elin had disarmed the spells and enchantments and had opened the door to the dungeon, the group filled in along the walls as Draco stood in the middle with Harry, Ron and Ginny standing unseen next to him.

Draco pulled his wand out of his cloak and then muttered very quietly, "One, two, three." On three, Harry pulled the Invisibility Cloak off and the three Gryffindors had their wands at ready.

The group of Death Eaters gasped loudly and fell dead silent. Elin grabbed his wand and yelled, "Kill Potter!"

Before any of the Death Eaters had a chance to grab their wands, the four standing in the middle began to shout "Stupefy!" and all of the Death Eaters fell to the ground with a thud.

"Draco! Harry! Hurry!" Hermione shouted from the confines of the iron cage.

Draco and Harry ran to the cage and with ease they unlocked the twenty five different locks that were keeping Hermione in.

Hermione ran out of the cage and gave everyone a big hug.

"Well, you're out of the cage, but we have to get you out of the dungeon," Draco said.

At that moment, a large bird with beautiful red and gold plumage flew into the dungeon carrying a large bottle of what looked to be a power made of diamonds.

"Fawkes," Harry said flatly.

"What?" Draco replied.

"Fawkes! Fawkes is Dumbledore's phoenix! That means that Dumbledore got our letter! Oh, and look! He has a letter as well!" Harry said as he ran to Fawkes.

He untied the letter and read it aloud.

    Harry-

Take this power and sprinkle it over everyone, including yourself. This will give you all invisibility for about fifteen minutes. That is enough time to get yourselves safely back to Draco's room.

            Professor Dumbledore

"How did he know that we have to go back to Draco's room? Ginny asked.

"I don't know, but we better get moving because these people are starting to come to," Harry said as he untied the bottle. Fawkes looked at Harry, picked up the Invisibility Cloak in his mouth, and flew away.

Harry then sprinkled the shimmering powder over everyone. They suddenly became invisible. The four students ran as fast as they could back to Draco's room.

                    ***********

Once they reached Draco's room, they threw open the door and stopped. Dumbledore was sitting on Draco's bed, petting Fawkes.

The invisibility power had worn off, and they all smiled at each other.

"I do believe this belongs to you, Harry," Dumbledore said as he handed the Invisibility cloak back to Harry.

ÔThanks," Harry responded as he petted Fawkes.

Before anyone could say more, the sound of many stomping feet came into the dormitory and stomped towards Draco's room.

"Well, I have a carriage right outside the window. I feel that it would be safest if we left now," Dumbledore said as he stood up and opened the window.

Everyone nodded and climbed through the window and into the carriage.

                    **********

Back at Hogwarts, the four students were fed and sent to their appropriate dormitories. As they were walking back, Ginny ran to Draco and kissed him on the cheek.

"Thanks for everything," she said.

Draco smiled and nodded.

When they had reached the Gryffindor common room, Harry, Ron and Ginny smiled at Draco and went through the portrait hole. As Hermione walked towards the hole, Draco grabbed her arm, spun her around, and kissed her lightly.

"This doesn't mean that I'm your friend," Draco said with a small smile.

Hermione smiled back, and pulled him into a tight hug.

"Thanks, Draco," she whispered. She kissed him once more and went into the Gryffindor common room.

Draco walked to the Slytherin common room thinking about everything that had happened. He smiled when he though about what Dumbledore had told him.

"Draco, I notified your father and told him that I took you out of Durmstrang so you could be a Slytherin Prefect here at Hogwarts. I also conveniently forgot to tell him that you brought Hermione back."

Draco smiled once more at the thought of Hermione, and he walked through the portrait hole into the Slytherin common room.
