- Hm...D/G shippers, you're time is coming. So, a little more slash-ish action, but it won't last. Anyway, thanks go to Margo, who reminds me that not all romance is bad, and to Kate, who reminds me that some of it is. And Carol, Em, and LA, and anyonw else who smokes that ****. Thank you, I'm finished now.
Chapter 3: Beautiful Mornings After
"If we sleep together
Will you like me better?
If we cum together
We'll go down forever
If we sleep together
Will I like you better?
If we cum together
Prove it now or never" -Shirley Manson of Garbage
Ginny had never felt so right. It was right, what she felt as she lay in bed, next to Lux's sleeping form. Some part of her said that she should feel wrong and dirty but she couldn't. There was this power surging through her that had no name and until now had lain latent and unused. This power was right and it belonged to her. A power her family could never accept, nor her friends understand. She had never had sex before, but she felt that somehow what she had done, the cause of the power, had to be far better than anything else she had ever felt. Somehow she had justified her past few years of abuse through one night.
She stood silently, seeing, to her great relief, that Hermione had not come back that night. She pulled on some clothes and went to her dresser to pull out a piece of parchment that was somehow connected to the power. She wrote down just what came to her head before sending it off with Pig, who had been sleeping on her desk, at what looked liked a very uncomfortable angle.

"Draco dear," his mother said slowly, her words slurred, as she sat across from him at the breakfast table in the main hall of the manner, "It's a little early in the morning to be smoking that much, don't you think?"
"It's a little early in the morning to be that drunk, don't you think Mother?" He replied coolly, lighting another.
"Well anyway darling," she started again, as though she hadn't heard him, "Yesterday morning I was...I was in the kitchen with..."
"Dina?"
"I was in the kitchen with that brown-haired maid-"
"They're all brown-haired Mum."
"Yes, but the one Lucius was shagging because he didn't think I'd ever be suspicious of her. Anyway, I was with her, when I noticed an absence...so I asked her why your father was so quiet and she got quite spirited with me."
"Mother, you remain the only one in this house who has not acknowledged that he is not returning home."
"Don't you get snippy with me like that. I'm your mother, and you'll flatter me if it keeps me happy."
"Even though it means lying?"
"Honey, I know you have no qualms about that."
"Have you ever seen a stare like a Persian cat?" He muttered under his breath.

Dean had been following her for twenty minutes. He was obviously tired, but Ginny was ready to keep on for another half hour or so. She'd been going on this daily run since her second year. She ran about three to six miles, depending on how depressed she was. Running always brought her right back up. She turned around, deciding not to be responsible for Dean's death of exhaustion.
"You're really out of shape Dean," she called to him, jogging in place.
"It's six in the morning," he replied, catching up to her and his breath, "You're insane, you know that don't you?"
"That's what they tell me down at the clinic."
Dean simply looked frightened.
"They call them jokes," she said sarcastically, "You should really look into them."
"Oh," his features turned to sheepishness, "Anyway, I came to talk to you about a problem I'm having with Hermione."
"Alright. I'm all ears." She stopped jogging to stretch.
"Well every night we...uh...make out and such and she seems very into it and she comes up to my room with me but then she won't...she won't make love...with me."
"Make love? What are you a woman?"
Humor had long since escaped him.
"Okay, well don't tell me you think this is unusual. A lot of girls do this. Especially Hermione. She's all about following rules. They are how she decides to conduct herself. Anyway, girls aren't as easy about these issues as you lot."
"What does that mean?"
"Urgh." She sat down on a rock and wiped off her face. "It means you're just a horny bastard and you should lay off before she dumps you, okay?"
"Oh." He smiled, "Good enough."
"Boys," she muttered as he walked off with even a thank you. "I hope she does dump you, ass hole."

Ginny sat on her bed, once more waiting for Lux to finish with the bathroom.
It happened like this constantly. Lux could take two-minute showers, but two hours afterward along with it.
"Hey you," she said as she finally opened the door. Her hair was dry and elegantly done up and she was wearing a fairly scandalous light blue nightgown. "It's all yours."
"Thanks," she went in, washed her face, and came back out, having already been dressed in her pajamas and dressing gown for an hour or so. When she came back into the room, Lux was scrutinizing her pointy ears in front of a mirror. "You know, you never did tell me how your ears got to be like that."
"I know. See, I normally tell people I botched up a spell years ago, but if you know me at all, you know I never botch up anything. Spells or otherwise. Truth is, I was born like this. It's the family curse. It has something to do with fairies or elves of other creatures. Like somewhere along the line, one of my veela-esque ancestors mated with and elf."
"Veela-esque?"
"Yes. I don't think I'm really a veela."
"Oh."
"But you never know." She turned around and kissed Ginny. "Does it matter, anyway?"
"No."
"Good," she kissed her again, longer this time, pulling her closer by the waist. Ginny ran her hands through Lux's hair, so like Draco's.
A few minutes later, Lux pulled away. "It's been a while since that happened," she remarked quietly.
"What? What happened?"
Lux stretched forth her arm, now a remarkable shade of blue. "That happened." The color was slowly spreading all over her skin. It was darker than her dress. "Like I said, it's been a while."
"Don't tell me you were born with this."
"No," she smiled, "This was a botched up spell. Not of my doing, of an old friend who was trying to turn me completely blue. She wasn't a very strong witch."
"I see. So you're only blue-"
"During times of extreme emotional pressure."
"Indeed."

Author's note: Okay, so last chapter's quote was Sarah McLachlan, and this chapter's was Garbage. Wonder what the next one will be...
Anyway, other random quotes from this chapter:
"I was in the kitchen with-"
"Dinah?" -Friends. Very early Friends. Possibly even the pilot.
"Make love? What are you, a woman?" -slightly later Friends.
"Have you ever seen a stare like a Persian cat?" -Elvis Costello. (I happened to be listening to Spike as I wrote this.)
Okay, so next Chapter: Ron and his theories and philosophies (I heard that laugh Kate), and Hermione actually appears again, and Harry is thought about, but still no actual appearance. And Draco receives a letter from Ginny...
