Not a song fic. Thanks to Kate, sorry I don't know you're penname, love, but you change it weekly. And to Laura, Emily, Carole, Liz, and my dearest Margo. Love.

Draco was lying on his back. She only came to talk about sex, or her own pitiful self-loathing. But this time she just sat quietly on her perch atop the wardrobe in the corner. She stretched her wings and tilted her head every few minutes, as though trying to figure something out. He read a book and tried desperately to ignore her. Unfortunately, it was impossible. The Dark Lord had created her for the purpose of distraction. Even though Draco was immune to Veela charm, he couldn't help thinking about inappropriate things when she was near him too long. Finally, after about an hour of her silence, she spoke.

"You're going back again, aren't you?" She sounded sad.

"Well...yes." He sat up. "That's really the whole point of going in the first place. It's my seventh year, Lux. The reason you survive the first six years is to get to the seventh." He always talked slowly when the conversation turned towards Hogwarts. She was like a two year old in many ways. Selfish, in her own right.

"But that means leaving me again. And it's awful here when you're gone. I know you need a break from Lucius, but he doesn't feed me. I have to hide in the alleyways of that tiny little village you call London to get any food. Not to mention my other... needs. It's just cruel."

"You could always come, you know."

"No I couldn't. I'm in your imagination, remember? They don't let imaginary things into a school. There's no place for us. Besides, I don't want to watch you shag those damn British prudes. Their poor excuses for females, let alone girlfriends. You really could do so much better Draco."

"Yeah, like what? You, I suppose?"

The comment had an unexpected affect. She scowled angrily and flew out of the open window. Draco lit a cigarette.

"No," she screamed and flew back inside to steal it from him. With a wave of her hand, several cartons flew out from various enclosures in the room.

"Hey, I paid for those."

"And I thank you for the very, very early Christmas gift. It's quite kind of you to think of me even though you're so busy with school." She smiled impishly and flew off again.

It wasn't his fault, really. How could he know that she was in love with him? He thought she was an emotionless, not to mention imaginary, sex-crazed sprite. He had no idea that her long weeks of unexplained absence were spent trying to build up the courage to tell him. He didn't know she cut herself, like so many hurting teenage girls do, because she thought she it might make it go away. He was too busy with Ginny. His feelings for her also went unsaid. He was nice to her, and he even offered to carry her books for her once. But she didn't respond to him the way he had wanted. So he tried to make her jealous, dating her friends and breaking their hearts. She just decided he was not to be trusted. He even tried to leave her an anonymous poem. She thought it was one of her homework papers and threw it in the common room fire.

So Lux, finding no alternatives, followed him to school. She saw the way he looked at the red haired girl and decided to move in for the kill. He may have lost his chance, but she had yet to get one. She watched Ginny closely for a week, found what made her tick, discovered her deep-dark secrets, and learned to love her music and her mysterious art.

She was waiting for her after potions. Ginny saw her, looking scared and alone, and smiled at her. She took her to her room and asked where she came from. She found her surprisingly attractive.

Harry was gone. Hermione hadn't seen him in any of her classes, and Ron said he wasn't in the dorm. He was just gone.
