Important Firsts

Blaise's first kiss had been with Draco Malfoy, when they were eight years old. Young to be kissing, but then again, purebloods like themselves always started young. When Draco went to stand under the Dark Mark, Blaise mourned, and went on his way.

Blaise's first time had been with Cedric Diggory. It was very nice, if a bit messy, Cedric was kind, and Blaise wasn't at all sorry. When Cedric died, Blaise did not cry, any went on his way.

Blaise's first crush had been on Professor Lupin, and it was one of his deeper secrets. He had a feeling the man knew, and had never said anything about it so he wouldn't embarrass Blaise. When Lupin was exposed, Blaise did not forget who he was, and went on his way.

Blaise's first love had been, bizarrely, Professor Edelweiss, his Ancient Runes professor, who had been murdered over the summer before what would have been his sixth year. When he heard about his beloved's passing, Blaise spent a day in bed, and then went to the funeral. He was the only person there who was not family, and when asked who he was, he said nothing, and went on his way.

Blaise's first affair was with Severus Snape, who was greasy and ugly and bitter and ate up the emptiness in Blaise and filled him up with twisted passions and potion recipes and Blaise swallowed him because he needed more. When he knew Snape was going to leave, Blaise smiled, and went on his way.

But Harry would not let Blaise go on his way. When Harry yelled at him, Blaise could not turn away, and kissed him instead. When Harry looked broken, Blaise needed to hold him together. When Blaise turned inside himself, Harry broke down doors to get to him.

Harry was the first to see Blaise cry, and Harry held him when he did. Harry was the first to insist Blaise sleep beside him. Harry was the first to stay up late, waiting for Blaise to come back, and the first to wake him up with a kiss. Harry was the first to hear 'I love you' from Blaise's lips. Harry was the first to invoke possessiveness in Blaise. Not jealousy, which is different, but a burning that whispers 'mineallminestaywithme'. Harry was the first to defend Blaise in his hearing, the first to hold his hand in public without hiding their hands under table, and the first to kiss Blaise's cheek good-bye as he runs out of the door.

And Harry's 'I love you' is the first that makes Blaise smile.
