Ginny has made a promise to protect the memories of a dear friend, but will her relationship with Draco put those memories at risk? In this chapter (two years before the prologue), Ginny is asked to make the promise, and must relive the memory of a tragedy she never wanted to witness.

Dumbledore finally reveals the secret behind Harry Potter's diary, but Ginny, who hasn't had the best of luck with magical diaries, may not be willing to listen. This chapter continues from the end of the prologue when we last saw Draco cast an Unforgivable curse in the Dark Forest. Who or what did he hit with

Ginny has made a promise to protect the memories of a friend, but will her relationship with Draco put those memories at risk? Ginny learns why Harry gave her his diary just before he died. This puts her mind at ease, that is until Dumbledore tells her what she is expected to do with the diary now that she knows.

Draco is conflicted, Ginny writes in the diary, Lucius yells at his son, Narcissa nicks a personality, and Molly laughs. There's a house elf named Pinny, family photos, retching on foyer rugs, and a yellow beam of light.

Ginny has finally taken the last step toward unlocking the diary Harry gave her, now his memories, and eventually some unwanted side-effects manifest themselves. Her marriage to Draco may be suffering, she's pregnant, and Draco still has some family loyalty issues to work out, not to mention he snores.

It is time for Harry's diary to serve its purpose. Ginny is ready, and has been for a while, but does she understand the consequences of letting Harry into her mind? Meanwhile, Draco shows her what he really is. Complete!
