Draco had to get away from everyone; he just couldn't handle it anymore. They were all standing around, talking in their hushed voices, about how much she would be missed and how great she had been. What did they know? Nothing. They knew her, but not as he had. He walked out of the room in a daze, paying no particular attention to where he was going. He found himself standing in front of their bed; in the one place he hadn't allowed himself to go. He sat down on the edge, mildly surprised to find himself there. He looked slowly around the room, taking everything in.

Her hat is hanging by the door
The one she bought in Mexico
It blocked the wind, it stopped the rain
She'd never leave that one
So she can't be really gone

He remembered that trip to Mexico, when she told him she had never left Europe and that she wanted to go somewhere warm and exciting. It had been amazing, getting away for two weeks, just the two of them. They had their own private section of Mexican beach where they laid in the sun, went scuba diving, and made love in the ocean. She fell in love with the Mexican sombreros and bought one for everyone. Those hats protected them from all of the Mexican weather: the sun, the wind, and the rain. She even wore it after the returned to London, just to amuse him. She was so full of life, how is it she's gone?

The shoes she bought on Christmas Eve
She laughed and said they called her name
It's like they're waiting in the hall
For her to slip them on
So she can't be really gone

It was their first Christmas together and they had gone shopping for a few last minute presents in muggle London, her idea of course. They were on their way to find something for her mother when they passed by this little clothing boutique. She saw a pair of slippers that were straps with four-inch heels. She dashed inside and asked to try them on, claiming that they would go wonderfully with her crimson dress for their Christmas dinner party the following night. When she saw the look on his face, she just laughed and said she heard them calling to her. He just laughed with her and told her he loved her and all of her insanities.

I don't know when she'll come back

She must intend to come back
And I've seen the error of my ways
Don't waste the tears on me
What more proof do you need
Just look around the room
So much of her remains

Draco sighed and put his face in his hands. She had to come back, she just had to. There was no other option. He had already made a thousand promises to the many different gods and goddesses to change if she came back. He apologized profusely fro every injustice he had ever done her or anyone one else in his life. He swore to become a near saint, if only she came back. He didn't want anyone's pity, just for them not to give up on her. It had only been two weeks since she had gone missing, but that didn't mean she was gone. They just needed to look around and see how much she left behind to see that.

Her book is lying on the bed
The two of hearts to mark her page
Now who could ever walk away at chapter 21
So she can't be really gone

He glanced over to the nightstand on the left side of the bed, her side of the bed. There sat a muggle mystery novel she had been reading. It was a thick book, something she deemed long enough for her to read. She told him it had over forty chapters and they weren't short ones either. She was a little perturbed when she reached the halfway point in less than a few days, but excited because she would soon know all the answers to every question. She had always been that way eager to learn and a quick study, but always a little disappointed when it was over. He loved that about her.

Just look around this room
So much of her remains

He looked around the room again, more slowly this time, his gaze staying on every object a little longer than necessary. She had left everything she loved in this room, including him. He knew if everyone would just look and see how much of her remained in this one room, the would all realize she couldn't be really gone and resume the search. But few would listen to him, mostly Harry and Ron, who surprisingly, he had become friends with in the last couple of years. A miracle that couldn't have happened without her.

Her book is lying on the bed
The two of hearts to mark her page
Now who could ever walk away with so much left undone
So she can't be really gone
No she can't be really gone

As his gaze came to rest upon her book once more, he realized how much she had left undone. How could she walk away from all of this, their life together? They planned on marrying, having children, and growing old together. How could it all end so abruptly? There was no way she was really gone and he would never accept it, accept his life without her in it. He stood and left the room, determined to get those ignorant buffoons to listen to him one last time, and if that didn't work, he would leave to find Hermione by himself.
