He slid the compartment door shut behind him, as he stepped out into the hallway. He had to get away from his friends. All they could talk about was Pansy Parkinson's new frilly pink thong.
But while they kept saying Pansy's name, in Draco's mind, it was Hermione. He wished he wouldn't have such thoughts about her. It made him feel sick, perverted. But he couldn't help it. To make it seem less bad, he fully clothed her in his mind, but couldn't help thinking of touching her smooth skin.
He sighed and turned, and started walking towards the back of the train, where he knew she was. He knew he would never have her, but there was always a chance to dream. But even Professor Dumbledore had told him not to dwell on dreams. There was just no way around it; he had to give it up.
He was on his way to her compartment to say a silent goodbye to the one thing he could never have, when from behind a sliding compartment door came a slim figure that almost collided with him. He turned his head, and his eyes met those of his desire.
"Hermione," gasped Draco. "I mean, Granger. Watch where you are going. I would've thought that becoming Head Girl would've made you grow up a little and stop playing childish games like Tag," he said, hoping she couldn't hear the waver in his voice. Hoping she couldn't see the desire in his eyes.
"It's dangerous to play these games Malfoy," he told himself, "you should know better than this to flirt with disaster. But even so, she looks so good when I scare her."
"At least I still know how to have fun, Malfoy," she shot back. "Anyways, we are supposed to meet in the prefects' compartment in five minutes."
She didn't look at him. With her eyes fixed on the floor, she took a step back. She didn't want to look up and see him.
He looked so inviting in muggle clothing. The sweatshirt and jeans perfectly accented his frame, and the rolled up sleeves showed off his arms. How she wanted to be held by those arms. She was sure they were made just for her.
"Daydreaming are we Granger?" sneered Draco, bringing her back to the present. "Or is that a mud-blood game you like to play, where your eyes roll back in your head and you look like a zombie?"
"Back off Malfoy. I was just trying to pretend I was anywhere but here," she retorted.
But when she looked in his eyes this time, she didn't see the same hatred she usually saw.
It looked like he was in pain, like something was hurting him. She didn't understand it. But the next time she looked, his eyes were full of malice again.
As he turned and walked away, she had to use all of her self control to hold in the tears of passion and anger, that more than one person were holding back.
Author notes: Next Chapter: Find out what happens at the meeting........ may include a little bodily contact (hitting, pushing, slapping, kissing, what else is new?)
