Tyler Black- My Story

Chapter Two

"He’s my father."

She looked too stunned to speak. She simply stood there gawking at me. She seemed to recover herself a bit before saying, " What’s your name?"

"Tyler. Tyler Black. I need to find my father. I’m....I’m.....I’m alone. I have no one else."

I was going to continue but the woman’s eyes had glazed over a little and she’d gone a bit pale.

"Are you okay?"

She looked me straight in the eyes and said, "Come with me. We need to talk with more...privacy. I’m Molly, by the way. Molly Weasley."

"Oh, okay Molly. I can call you Molly, right?" What did we need privacy for?

"Of course, dear." she laughed, a struggled laugh.

*~*

We walked, in silence, into a place called "the Leaky Cauldron". It was quite amazing in there. So much magic.

Molly Walked to the fireplace and grabbed something. When I got there she held out a flower pot filled with some kind of sand or dirt out to me.

"What’s this?" I questioned.

"Floo powder, of course."

After a confused look from me, she continued, "Oh, well it’s quite simple really. You just take a handful, step into the fireplace, state your destination VERY clearly, and throw the powder down."

Grabbing a handful of powder, I realized I hadn’t the slightest idea of my destination. As if reading my mind, Molly said, "Twelve Grimauld Place."

Stepping into the fireplace, I repeated the location and the room seemed to spin away. I was feeling a bit queasy but it was so unbelievable, I almost didn’t want it to end. I was glad when it did though, because I would’ve thrown up if it hadn’t. The room was occupied by only one person, a sad, tired looking man with cuts on his face.

"Who..." he began, but he stopped as Molly stepped out of the fireplace.

"Tyler, dear, would you wait in hear while I have a word with-"

"Remus. Lupin." he interupted.

"Of course, Mrs. Weasley," I was rather nervous but determined not to show it. What if they worked for- No. That’s crazy. She’d been so nice. Even so...

I sat at the table and awaited my fate.

(Molly’s POV)

Closing the kitchen door softly behind me, I turned to Remus.

"Who was that?!"

How was I to explain. "Her name is Tyler. Tyler Black. She wandered over to me in the street. Said she was lost and asked if I knew her father, Sirius Black."

"How could you take her here, Molly!? How do you just.....What if she works for You-Know-Who?"

"Oh, Remus, honestly. She’s a child. Calm yourself. I need you to help. I......I...." I couldn’t finish my sentence and a tear slipped down my face.

"What, Molly?" he asked, his voice softening and with a concerned expression.

Recovering myself a little, I continued. "We need to tell her about her father. That he’s......gone. And we’ll need to look after her afterwards. She said she’s alone. She can go to Hogwarts with the kids."

"Who?" said Ron, who’d just come downstairs for a snack.

"We’ll tell you later." Remus stated. "Go back upstairs and we’ll call you down."

"But..." Ron protested.

"Now!" Remus stated more sternly.

Scoffing, Ron reluctantly headed back upstairs to his and Harry’s room, clutching his growling stomach.

(Tyler’s POV)

I’d been singing my mother’s song to comfort myself, but I imediately stopped upon hearing the door open.

"Hello Tyler. It’s a pleasure to meet you." He said, shaking my hand and then seating himself across from me. "Your father was one of my best friends."

"Was?" My heart skipped a beat.

"I’m afraid he....past away just a few weeks ago. Four weeks, actually."

I was utterly in shock. Then I realized, "That’s when I escaped from-" I hadn’t realized I’d spoken aloud.

"Escaped from where?"

I began the story, hesitantly. "When I was three years old, my mother died, leaving me only a picture of my father, who I assumed to be dead. I’ve never met him. I don’t know how I managed to survive on my own, but I did. When I was eleven, I got my letter from Hogwarts. I was so excited to have a home, finally, but the I was kidnapped by Voldemort. Do you know wh-"

"Yes. Yes, I do. Please, continue." He seemed really interested.

"Well, anyway, I don’t know why he took me, but I’ve lived hell there for the past five years. I’ve been locked underground in a cell guarded by death eaters twenty-four seven, abused and underfed. When I was thirteen, I saw my father in the newspaper. That’s how I learned his name. I’ve tried to escape, but there was always someone there to catch me. Until one night four weeks ago. What happened that caused all of the death eaters to leave? And is the Harry Potter boy okay?"

It was his turn to tell me what was going on. He told me about the order, my father, and the events in the Department of Mysteries from that fateful night four weeks ago. It was all so unbelievable. What else had I missed?

Molly stuck her head into the doorway. "Sorry to interupt, but, could I maybe make dinner?"

"Oh, yeah, sorry Molly. Tyler, why don’t I take you upstairs to meet the kids?"

"Okay" It was all I could say. I couldn’t believe it. I was alone. Completely alone in the world. I had no family, no friends. Not yet anyway.

I kind of wanted to be alone, to think and such, but I didn’t want to be rude to the people who just took me in off the street.

Remus entered the room before me. The three people in the room, who looked about my age, ceased talking immediately.

"Harry, Ron, Hermione, this is Tyler Black, "He said as he led me out from behind him, "She’s Sirius Black’s daughter."

Their faces would’ve made me laugh if it weren’t for the situation I was in.

"I’ll see how supper is going." Remus escaped out of the door.

"Do you-" one of the boys began. Pity was evident in his voice.

"Know about my father? Remus told me everything, um-"

"Harry Potter. And this is Ron Weasley and Herm-. Tyler? Tyler, what’s wrong?!" Harry said running to me.

I’d fallen to the floor. The pain in my right forearm was almost unbearable. It had only felt like this once before. Avoiding Harry’s touch and a little teary eyed, I managed to squeak, "Can I go to my room? I’m kind of tired."

"Uh, sure." Harry said. "I’ll get Remus."

As Harry left the pain began to fade away. The girl spoke up. "Seeing as Harry never finished his sentence, I’m Hermione Granger. Are you sure you’re okay?"

"Of course she’s not, Hermione. Bloody hell, she’s just found out her father’s dead." Ron interjected.

Elbowing him hard, Hermione shouted, with a glare, "Ronald, that was rather rude! Why don’t you try to think before just blurting things out!"

They began to full out argue and it was getting rather uncomfortable to just sit there and watch. Turning my gaze to the stairs, I saw Remus and Harry approaching. As I looked at Harry, I grew angry . So angry I felt like running at him and strangling him; like performing the cruciatus curse on him to see him writhe on the floor in agony.

Wait a minute....perform the what? Where did all that come from.

Feeling rather confused, internally, I let Remus lead me to my room.
