Chapter One: Constance

"What is wrong with floo powder?" Ron gasped at Hermione.

"Nothing I think it's just too much of a hassle," she replied in a
snotty tone.

"Hermione, Ron would you both just shut up!" Harry was getting a headache from all their bickering.

" I'm just saying," Hermione replied flipping her hair, "that..."

"Hermione you're always "just saying" about things."

"I do not Ron!"

They just wouldn't stop! Harry was going crazy.

"Hagrid!"

"Hello there! How are you?" Hagrid boomed.

"Fine. Hagrid, would you PLEASE show me where this book is?" Harry said showing Hagrid his list of books pointing to a random one.

"Oh, Harry, it's jus' o'er there."

"Well, would you just show me?"

"O' course," Hagrid caught on quick.

FREEDOM! Harry joyfully thought to himself. They were out shopping for school things, Harry's head was hurting worse than his scare did around Voldemort. Hermione had all of a sudden become particular about the way she travels and Ron was just fine with it.

"I wish George and Fred were coming today, but they got sick right along with Gin, I think," Harry said to Hagrid. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were now in their 5th year. How he wished Ginny hadn't been sick today.

" Blimey, look it here! Is that Lockhart?"

"Hello there Potter... Hagrid. Still the celebrity? Make sure not to get to full of yourself Harry." Harry rolled his eyes, how he despised that man. Even if he did go to the psycho ward for awhile to get his memory back, and how much it did come back.

"Hello Lockhart."

"Why so glum Harry? Aren't you happy to see you're old Professor out and about again?"

"Yes." What a git! Like I'd ever want to welcome him! Harry thought. Harry knew himself all too well. He had the manners down to where it was almost sickening.

"Well, I have some business elsewhere, nice to see you Harry." Lockhart held out his hand. Harry took it, shook it with such force it took Lockhart by surprise. "Strong young man you have become Harry. See you around." Lockhart waved and left the shop without even saying good-bye to Hagrid.

"Well, Harry, I've got to go see to some business, too." Hagrid waved and left the shop. He was stuck with Ron and Hermione once more.

"Come on Harry! We've got to meet my mum in 5 minutes at Gringotts."

"Coming Ron!" Harry sighed and started walking over to them. SMACK!!! Harry had slammed right into someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry... why, you're Harry Potter!" said the young girl glancing at the scar on his forehead .Harry rolled his eyes, who didn't know who he was! "Oh, sorry... my name's Constance!" She clumsily shook his hand. The girl seemed about 15 or so with her hair up in a ponytail. It was long soft waving chestnut brown hair, it wasn't frizzy either, it looked like silk. Harry stood up and rubbed the back of his neck then helped her up. "I'm such a klutz," she said while bending over to pick up her things, and Harry helped. This girl was very pretty and attractive.

The girl kept talking about something, then,"... I've been home schooled for a while now, on magic, but finally I convinced Mother to let me go to Hogwarts this year. Dumbledore said I don't have to look stupid and go in front of everyone with the younger kids ,so I already know what house I'm going to be in... AH HA, I found you now!" She had found, Harry guessed, her favorite quill. "See, it's a sugar quill. You can write with it and eat it."

"What house are you going to be in?" Harry asked, hoping it was
Gryffindor.

"Gryffindor ,of course. I've heard that's one of the best ones. I'm so happy I didn't get Slytherin . I sat there whispering to the hat "not Slytherin," though it said I would be great, and Slytherin would help me.

I didn't believe it either." The hat had talked to her ,too? Told her the same thing? Harry was over whelmed. There was someone like him. " I've been practicing my Quidditch skills all summer, so I hope I make the team. Do you know the captain?"

Harry had become just mesmerized by her voice, she looked him in the eyes when she asked him this. Her eyes, they were amazing... Harry was lost in the moment. This girl's eyes were this
amber-rich color. He had never seen such eyes.

"Harry?" Constance was having asked him a question.

"Come on Harry!" Ron yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Sorry, what?"

"Do you know who the captain is?"

"Of what?"

"Quidditch silly!"

"Oh, me!"

"You play Quidditch?"

" Yeah, I'm the seeker for the Gryffindor team."

"Oh, blimey look at the time! I have to go. See you on the train! Bye!"
she hollered sprinting out the door.

"Harry, who was that?"

"Someone I just ran into. That's all."

"Come on Ron, Harry. We have to go!"

Harry sighed as he started to leave, then he saw something. A quill, the special one it had engraved in it "Constance". He bent over and picked it up. He had a little piece of this girl he was amazed by. Harry shook his head, he remembered poor sick Ginny, his girlfriend. He couldn't be infatuated by a girl he just met, could he?

"Harry, are you ok? You seem like Lockhart put a memory loss charm on you," Ron laughed. Hermione scolded him. They had walked over to see what happened.

"Well, actually, I did see Lockhart at the shop."

"You did?" Hermione said a bit too enthusiastically.

"Yes, he's got most of his memory back."

"Ha, I'd rather have kept him the way he was. He didn't even know what a spoon was then," Ron joked.

"Well, I'm happy for him," Hermione said giving Ron the evil eye. "Did I tell you yet? My poor Crookshanks won't be coming this year."

Ron's grin grew. "That's too bad I was just getting used to that dumb... I mean, nice, sweet , loving fur ball," Hermione rolled her eyes.

"There you are! Come on now we have to get home. Molly will be getting worried," Mr. Weasley had met them half way to Gringotts. "Come on now, we don't want to get her all troubled." He pushed them to the store they had come in with the floo powder. "Ok, Harry and Ron ,you two go first." Mr. Weasley said while pulling out a little bag of floo powder. Ron grabbed some and pulled Harry in the fire place, "Arms tight!" Harry had pulled off his glasses before going in, so he was safe. Whoosh! Harry felt Ron tug on his arm, pulling him out of the fire place. Smack! He tripped over Ron's foot. Harry shook off the ashes, pulled out his glasses, and stood up. Harry blinked; he was in the right place.

"Harry!" Ginny said shrilly. She ran up to him and gave him a hug.

"Gin, we just left a couple of hours ago."

"I know, I just like hugging you. You're like a soft teddy bear." Harry laughed and hugged her back. Forget that other girl, I have Gin and I'm just fine with that, Harry thought. "So, did you get everything?"

"Yeah, we did," Ron said as Hermione and Mr. Weasley stepped out of the fireplace and shook off all their ashes.

" I need a shower," Hermione muttered to herself and jogged upstairs to the bathroom.

"Did you get any jellybeans?"

"Yeah, I saved all the gross ones especially for you!" This is what Harry liked, joking. He loved joking with his girlfriend. Harry pulled out a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans from his bag and handed them to Ginny.

"You little liar, these are all my favorites," Ginny said noticing the colors of the jellybeans.

"Oh, so you love wax?" Ginny and Harry laughed together.

"Ginny Weasley!"

"Yes, Mother DEAREST?"

"You should be in bed, now off with you."

"Ok." Ginny took her hand out of Harry's and sauntered up the stairs to her (and temporarily Hermione's) room.

The vibe was gone. What was wrong with him? I just need to sleep on it. Maybe Constance will just be a dream, I hope so, but in the back of his mind he new he didn't hope so. He prayed it was all real. What was this Constance girl doing to him?

"Ron?"

"Yeah?" Harry and Ron were upstairs now in their room, which was still all orange.

"Promise me something?"

"Ok."

"If I start to fall for another girl this year, besides Gin, slap me."

"Slap you?" Ron shot up strait in his bed. "For falling for another girl? Who are you going to fall for, Lavender?" Ron laughed because he knew that would never happen.

"I'm just being sure, okay? Promise you will?"

"I hope I don't have to slap you, but I promise," Ron sighed.

"Good night, Ron."

"Night Harry," Ron laid back down and, after just a moment, started snoring. Harry looked straight up at the ceiling. Tomorrow was September 1st. Tomorrow he'd see Constance again, on platform nine and three quarters. Harry couldn't sleep the rest of the night.

"Ron, Harry get up! It's time!" Harry was already dressed and had finished packing his last minute things, Ron was still snoring away. How Harry wished he had slept.

"I'm up," Ron muttered, half awake at Mrs. Weasley. Ron grunted to himself while putting on his clothes. "Why do we have to get up so early in the morning for the blasted train?" Ron groaned. Ron started putting all his last minute things in his trunk while Harry just sat there staring out the window. "Harry are you ok, this bloody parchment!" Ron got a paper cut while he was putting his scrolls in his trunk.

"Yes, I'm fine! Why does everyone keep asking me that?"

"Sorry, you've just seemed like you're in a daze lately."

"I'm fine, Ron."

"Arthur go get the boys! We have to go!" Cried a far off yell coming from Mrs. Weasley.

"We're coming! We're coming," Ron shouted back while rolling his eyes,
"Come on Harry; it's a new year once more. I wonder what's going to happen to Neville this year?" Harry laughed; Neville Longbottom was always the one to get himself into a mess.

"Do we have to go? I don't want to go back to Snape, Flinch, and Mrs. Norris," Harry moaned.

"Hurry up, boys!" Hermione said barging in the room.

"There's your wake up call Harry." Ron laughed while picking up his trunk and started taking it downstairs. Harry followed.

"What about Peeves? What if I go nutters because of him?" Harry groaned on his way down the stairs toward Ron.

"Just think, Quidditch."

"True, ok let's go," Harry said, still complaining. Mr. Weasley had built another magical mobile. This time it was a suburban that they were going to take that to the station. "Any one want a chocolate frog?" Harry offered on the drive over to Kings Cross.

"I do!" Hermione, Ginny, and Ron replied in unison, Fred and George were in the back of the van doing something to get themselves into trouble. Harry gave each person a chocolate frog and then gave one to himself.

"Anyone need Circe?" Harry offered.

"I do! Does anyone need Merlin?"

"No. Everyone has that one." Hermione explained to Ginny.

"Wicked! I got Paracelsus!" Ron started doing his victory dance.

"Ron, don't dance," Harry said, everyone started laughing.

"All I need is Cliodna now and then my collection will be complete." Ron started cackling.

"It hurts!" Ginny said covering her ears, they started snickering again. Hermione pulled out one of her new favorite books, Magical Theory.

"Oh no, don't touch her, don't breath, do nothing," Ron whispered.

"Ron!" Hermione hit Ron on the head with her book

"Where's Hedwig, Harry?" Ron said noticing the empty cage next to Harry.

"She felt like flying to Hogwarts herself, plus I had a letter to Snuffles I needed to send." He added the plus in a lower voice. Sirius was still in deep trouble for something he didn't do.

"Poor Crookshanks." Hermione sighed.

"Where's Pig?" Harry asked, noticing that twit of an owl wasn't there annoying them.

"Turn your head around and look in the back." Harry turned around to see Pig's cage was on a stick that was sticking out from the window of the mobile with Pig inside.

Harry laughed. "Couldn't stand him in the car?"

"Precisely!" Ron responded, after having his owl for 2 years going on three and it still wouldn't shut up.

"We're here!" Sang Mrs. Weasley shrilly.

"Of course we are," Ron said under his breath while getting out of the car. Harry checked his pockets; he had not lost the quill. Then Harry remembered Constance. What was with this girl? Sure she was striking,
but he already had a girlfriend! He fought with his mind for a while, before he knew it, he had his trunk and Hedwig's cage in his hand, and had already gone through to the platform.

"Harry!" It was she; Harry then froze right where he was standing.

"Hello," Harry stuttered.

"Hi, you might not remember me. My name's -"

"Constance. Right. I remember." Harry's left eye started to twitch with nervousness. Her hair was in plait today; he dared not to look into her eyes.
