Midnight. This time of the day, or rather night, is a time when mysterious creatures and humans sneak about for one sole purpose that is set in their minds.
On one of these silent times, a pale and blonde headed boy lurked around the edge of the Forbidden Forest. His eyes darted around quickly as he walked slowly near the forest which he had entered in his first year and had never gone in again.
Odd, isn't it, how when you see something that scares the life out of you, you begin to help it later on?
Draco Malfoy was the boy. He usually did this spying every other day of his life at the Malfoy Mansion. The death of Dumbledore had shaken him slightly, the scene playing over and over in his head.
Voldemort, however, had acted oddly when Malfoy himself had to tell him Snape had killed Dumbledore. He had said Malfoy had not fully completed his job, but had finished part of it, getting the Death Eaters inside the school. The punishment? A Crucio curse cast upon him.
He had been sent to Hogwarts again, but not as a student. Once again was he a spy, once again did he sneak around the school without being caught. He hadn't seen Potter since the battle at Hogwarts itself. In fact, he truly did not want to face him, fearing that he would kill him right on the spot.
A twig snapped to the left of him, in the Forbidden Forest. Malfoy's head immediately twisted to that side, but he saw nothing alive or moving. With a final glance, his head turned back into its natural position and he began to walk once more.
But there it was again. But it was closer this time to Draco. The teen heard raspy breathing near him, and as he turned his head again, the boy saw a werewolf staring back at him with black slit eyes. Silver dirty fur lay shaggy against its muscular sweaty body. Draco just stared at the werewolf in pure fright. And then, he ran.
I will not be bitten. Draco said to himself as he raced through the grounds, the pant and footsteps from the werewolf behind him. I will not be bitten by a werewolf.
Faster and faster they ran down the fields, the chase not visible from the castle. The full moon above them shone brightly like a beacon to the boy and the werewolf as they ran and ran...
The werewolf was catching up and Draco was slowing down. Sweat dripped from his pale face as he looked backwards, and in a sickening moment, the werewolf jumped with fangs open and hit him in the neck.
Draco fell to the ground as the fangs pierced him. He lay there as he heard the running footsteps gallop away into the distance. The teen lifted his cloudy eyes and looked around to make sure that it was gone. He slowly got up from the ground and instantly lifted his arm to the place the werewolf had bitten him. The boy let out a gasp as he felt the warm blood slowly flowing down his neck and soak into his dark robes.
And then, suddenly, he looked towards the sky. A frightening realization came over him, his heart beat faster than it had as his eyes set on the full moon. An odd feeling overcome him, his eyes narrowing as he felt it. He leaned over and groaned as the feeling became painful. He felt something on his back prick, the hair on his neck standing up. He was grasping for air as he felt it on his legs, on his arms, on his head. And then, he lost control of his mind entirely.
And then in the shimmer of the moonlight, a blonde werewolf paced through Hogwarts grounds.
