Chapter 3-Written Feelings
It was the end of the day; Ron, Hermione and Harry were walking back from eating dinner and were headed towards the Gryffindor Tower. Since they didn't have any classes at night, they were free to do whatever they wanted, as long as they followed the school's rules.
Harry decided to get crackin' on his card to Draco because he had a feeling it would take him all night long. But first, he had to talk to Hermione.
"Hey 'Mione, do you think I could talk to you in private?" he sent Ron a look as if to say I'm sorry.
"Sure Harry, how about we go over to that corner where all of the bean bag chairs are. I have a feeling this might take a while, so we might as well be comfy in the process," Hermione suggested.
Harry led the way and sat down on a bright purple chair while Hermione took a gold and red one.
"Well, it's like this, "Harry started. "I...I think I'm falling for someone."
"That's good! I don't see why you should have to talk to me about it."
"No, it's not good. The person I like is a boy..."
"Ah, I see." Hermione looked slightly taken aback, but she had a feeling that this was going to happen someday. She always had a gut feeling that Harry would turn out gay. "OK, so who's the lucky guy?"
"See, this is the part where you're supposed to run and hide. It's just so horrible and that's why I came to talk to you."
"The way I look at it, it can't be any worse than Draco Malfoy and it's obviously not him. You hate him. We all do."
"Uuh...well..."Harry looked around nervously wondering if this was a bad idea from the beginning. "It is Draco Malfoy," Harry said quickly.
"Oh..."
"Maybe I should just forget about it. I never mentioned it, OK?" Harry got up ready to leave but Hermione grabbed him tightly around the wrist and pulled him back down.
"Don't go, Harry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude. I'm glad you told me; I'm honored. Does anyone else know?"
Harry shook his head.
"Make sure you don't tell anyone else, OK?"
This time Harry nodded. "But Hermione, I have to write him a Valentine's Day card. What am I going to do? What am I going to say?"
"Calm down. It will all work out fine. As for what to say, say whatever is on your mind, it's a start. You have to say something nice, so at least it should come straight from your heart, instead of useless phony words."
"Alright, I'll try. This is going to take a while. Thank you so much, 'Mione, for understanding; I always knew you would." Harry stood up and helped Hermione to her feet.
"No problem, Harry, it's what friends are for. Never forget that." Harry and Hermione went in opposite directions to their respective dorms to write their cards.
Harry reached the foot of his bed and bent down to open his trunk. He dug through it and towards the bottom he found what he was looking for. He took out the fancy parchment and his red ink. As long as it was Valentine's Day, he might as well get in the spirit by writing in red.
Harry closed the trunk, collected all of his belongings, and went to sit on his bed. He pulled the curtains around the outside. He wanted his privacy and he needed to concentrate on the task at hand.
*~*~*
After about two hours, he still had no idea what to write. Sure, he had written things but nothing sounded right. It was either too fluffy or not what he really wanted to say. He had to use a disappearing charm to erase what he had previously written. Harry stopped what he was doing and just stared up at the ceiling. Maybe if I do this, something will come to mind. After about five minutes of doing that, Harry soon became restless. But suddenly an idea hit him and he scrambled to write it down. After he was done he re-read it.
You can fall in love at anytime,
When you meet that right person.
Your whole life changes,
What you believed in the past
Becomes one big lie,
And everything that mattered
Isn't important anymore.
All that really matters,
Is the person meant for you.
But everyone has someone out there,
Even if it were someone you wouldn't expect.
My worst fear is not finding it.
The strangest thing about all this is,
When you're around,
It just doesn't seem to matter anymore.
It was perfect.
Harry neatly folded the parchment in half and stuffed it in an envelope and wrote the name Draco on the front. Harry laid back and rested his head on his pillow. Soon enough, he was fast asleep, and he even still had his shoes on.
Author notes: The poem that Harry writes to Draco is not mine. It is the lovely work of my great friend Lindsey! *muah!* Thank You!
