The Millennium's Curse

Chapter 3: First Battle

******************************************************************

Dumbledore cleared his throat to remind the group of his presence there. He had sat back and let them have their time to bond, for he knew if anything was important at that time, it was for all of them to become accustomed to each other, and to have some kind of relationship, because they would have to trust the others with their lives many times.

As they all sat in the chairs that appeared for each of them, they looked to their old headmaster, now Minister of Magic. He smiled at them and then set the small brown box down on the table. He uttered a charm lowly and the box enlarged once more. There was soft scrawl surrounding the box in elaborate writing. Elaborate, but

illegible to any of them. Well, almost.

"Wow!" Takeda said. Everyone looked over to him as he traced his fingers over the writing. "Dragon Script?" he asked. They other 4 looked at him in confusion, while Dumbledore simply smiled.

"My like of you and amazement by you increase every day TK. Very few people know of Dragon Script, for it is an old language, one that could only be said by those with either dragon blood within them, or those that were blessed by the dragons.

"This blessing can be carried in bloodlines, and usually is passed on by someone with an ancestor who was a Draconian. What is very important is this." And with that he went to open the boy. It was very large, about 4 feet across and 3 feet high.

"How did you know what that was?"

"I read about it."

"I know, so did I. The problem is, no one can recognize Dragon Script unless they have dragon's blood in them or have the Gift. Otherwise it looks like meaningless writing, no matter how much you read about it," Hermione finished.

Takeda shrugged his shoulders and looked to the Minister.

"This case contains a soft silver material. If you reach into it, it will draw out the weapon that most suits you, and it will be endowed with your magic power and potential. These weapons can act as dual purpose wands, and can and will more than likely save your lives if used properly. I advise each of you to find out all you can about using these weapons seriously and correctly.

"Now very few people know of the fact that the Draconians, and even more so the ancient dragons, were great craftsmen. They used their fire to it's full affect while creating the weapons. You see, the fire of ancient dragons is magical. Anything it creates can not be destroyed except by the fire itself, or something else created from the same fire.

"It was believed that there were two great swords made by the dragons. One was the sword of Gryffindor," He looked pointedly at Harry, "And the other The Queen Dragon's Sword. It was believed to be so powerful that the Draconians hid it here with the rest of their creations to be withdrawn by hands worthy enough to possess it. Harry, you needn't do this, the Sword of Gryffindor will do nicely for you. Now you will all go."

And with that he opened the box and revealed what he had been speaking about. The silver in the box was absolute, with nothing to hint that it was not a solid object. Light was repelled and given off by it, and they all looked a bit edgy to stick their hand in it. This worrying was not for no reason, as they would soon find...

*****************************************************************

First to step up was Ron, determined to prove his courage. He sunk his hand into the murky depths of the silver liquid, and as he did, he pulled it out, and as the silver slid down his hand, it seemed to form a nice long staff. The staff had a wicked blade on one end and it seemed made of a dark, almost black wood. He looked at it, and after close inspection smiled.

That smile vanished as he tapped the blade, and a cut opened in his finger. However it returned stronger than ever when he saw how sharp the blade was.

Next up was Ginny. She looked a bit nervous but sunk her hand into the depths as well. As soon as her hand was out, everyone looked on in marvel. In her hand was a beautiful golden bow with a quiver made of dark red leather full of arrows.

There was Latin on the back of the quiver which read, "let your aim be true, and may you never run out of arrows." Hermione pulled an arrow out of one of the neat lines they were all in, and another came magically to fill its place. "Wicked" was all Ginny said as she walked away captivated by her weapon.

Harry sat watching this, holding Gryffindor's sword in his hand. He looked down at it and then smiled lightly as Hermione stepped up next. She sunk her hand in and as she pulled it out, a set of Samurai swords formed in her hands. They were beautiful in craft, and sleek in design. She looked pleased, and immediately walked from the room to Dumbledore's adjacent library to look for books on them.

Next and last was Takeda. He walked over to the silver concoction and stuck his hand in. However, as soon as he did, it glowed a gold that matched his eye color wonderfully. Suddenly his arm fell deeper in and he looked in pain. His eyes shown in a bright light and they were all momentarily blinded by it. When they recovered, they saw an odd sight...

******************************************************************

Takeda lay against the wall, dazed and confused. His eyes were barely open, but the light from his eyes still shown a bit. The box had slammed shut and the Dragon Script around it was glowing a golden color. Takeda was resting, his arm out and undamaged, and clutched in his hand was a long sword.

Actually, it was a Japanese kitana, or a ninja sword to be precise, and it was beautiful to say the least. The blade was thin but surely sharp and it had a gold tint to it and is reflected the color when the light hit it right. The handle was black and looked to be made of diamond by the glint.

It was carved into the shape of a dragon's body spiraling around the handle, with its mouth open at the end and a golden ball in it. Swirling in the ball was a medley of gold and black. Also in Takeda's hand was a scabbard which was hard and made of scales.

"Dragon scales," Takeda said. "And the handle is made from the horn of, if I'm not mistaken, the last Dragon Queen in all of England. The golden thing is her, her..."

"Heartstone," Hermione said. Every looked to her for an explanation, and she began. "The Heartstone is only in dragon queens. It is the most powerful magical object, and few can stand the power. It can only be used for good, and only by someone descendant of the queen."

"If that's true, why did they put it there? He can't be a dragon, can he?"

"Its possible he could be, but more than likely its there for its protection. It has its own magic to protect who is serves." Hermione finished. Upon the looks, she explained. "I read about it after I left."

"You read all of that in maybe a minute?"

"What are you talking about. I left over and hour ago. I came back in here to show you what I found when I saw Takeda and the gold glow."

Everyone in the room albeit one looked to the clock, and sure enough, it had been an hour. However, Takeda wasn't looking at the clock as words etched themselves along the blade. Words not in English, but in Dragon Script. Words that were glowing black. Words that hadn't been there seconds before. Oh no, none of those were why he was staring so intently. You see, he was staring because,

He could read each word perfectly.

*****************************************************************

After they all got their weapons, they sat for Dumbledore to go over their mission with them.

"This is how it will go. We are not sure where the object needed for the curse is, but we have leads. You will journey out to look up on these leads, and your first stop will be London. There you will find a scroll which we have entrusted in the hands of one of your old classmates.

From there, you will travel to California to investigate Death Eater sightings, and from there, China, Egypt, Wales, and then wherever you feel compelled to go after." Everyone looked fine, all but Takeda.

"Sir, I, I, I can't go back. I can't go back there. They are looking for me, and if they were to find me, they'd kill them. And besides, I, um, her..." Takeda stumbled through.

"Its okay if you feel threatened, but you can do it. I believe in you, and I think that they," motioned toward the other 4 people, "Will do their best to ensure your safety," Dumbledore said calmly.

Takeda nodded at this answer and then they all stood. As they began to leave, they all walked over to him and formed kind of a barrier around him so no one saw him, almost as if to protect him from danger. He smiled and they left the office and they all went to Harry , Ron and Hermione's flat via Floo powder.

******************************************************************

As soon as they got there, Takeda sat his sword down and placed it in a place near him where, if anything went wrong, in one motion he could have the sword in his hand. Then the questioning began.

"Why don't you wanna go back?"

"Where don't you want to go back to?"

"What happened to you?"

"Are you okay?"

Takeda looked to them all and then sighed. "Lets get this all out of the way. I realized all too late that I don't know any of your names. Look. My name is Takeda Lee, but you all can call me TK, its shorter."

There was a quick round of introductions, with titles of jobs and other things before TK continued. Harry thought it strange that TK hadn't known who he was at first sight. And Harry could have sworn he gave Harry a look of pity and happiness at the same time.

"I used to live in California, I won't tell you where, but I was born here. You know the story behind that.

I don't want to go back because this gang of wizards, similar to Death Eaters, is after me. They almost killed me before I got here, but I got away to a place I would have rather not been. A place worse. I escaped from there, and I ended up here. And Ginny, to answer your question, I'm okay I guess.

As okay as a guy can be finding out he has a year to save the world with 4 people he doesn't know, and in the end he will have to fight the person he hates the most in the world." They all nodded to him, thinking he hated Voldemort so much because of his father. But they knew not the half of it. But they would soon find out why...

*******************************************************************

TK looked over to the Television, a gift Harry had gotten Ron from his night job.

TK waved his hand passes it and the remote flew from the top of the TV and into his hand. He then used it to operate the TV expertly finding a movie to watch very quickly. However, no one was watching the movie. Instead they were playing the scene of his wandless magic over in their head.

"How did you do that. And where's your wand?" Hermione blurted out.

He turned and looked at them and then spoke. "The people that did that to my family were in that gang I told you about. They used my wand to write that word in my mom's blood, and I refuse to touch it. I left it there and I ran out and right into Dumbledore. He took me back to England and then to the castle. He was aware of the decision and we tried to go to Ollivander's for a new one, but none of them worked. Since then I have been doing 'wandless magic.

It takes some focus initially, and it is tiring, but I got used to it. They gave me a fake wand so I wouldn't attract any attention at school." He then stood up after changing the channel and the countdown clock to the new year was nearing the two hour mark.

"And besides, I have this now," he said as he lifted his sword and then slid on his leather jacket, which had been taken off as soon as they got into the house. He walked over and placed the remote back on the TV.

"Lets head into London. The faster we get that done, the sooner we can head on."

*******************************************************************

The trip to London was a complete and utter disaster to say the least. 5 dead, 32 wounded, and hundreds scared senseless. In the center of all of this was the group of five. They had shown up to see the Seamus, who had held the scroll. As they walked up, someone crept behind him. It was an incredibly beautiful woman, and they seemed to know each other well.

Four of the five of them were prepared to walk over and greet him and who obviously had to be his new girlfriend, but TK gripped his sword and slipped it out. He held it in a death grip and walked forward to the group behind Ron, who well overshadowed and hid him.

"She's a vampire," were the three words he spoke that started Hell on Earth. The girl glanced up to them and lifted her head from Seamus' shoulder and opened her mouth. Sure enough she was of the undead.

She then sank her en-longed teeth into his neck. He howled in shock and pain and then sank to the ground. She wiped her mouth and smiled at the four of them. She still hadn't seen TK. Had she, she would have still been alive.

She leapt high into the air, intending to come down on Ron. As she came down from the height in the air, aiming for the redhead, he was pushed aside and TK jumped up a bit, driving his sword into the Vampire's breastbone. She screeched in pain and then fell back and withered away.

From there, Death Eaters sprang out everywhere. Few were killed, many were hurt, and in the end, all five of them had survived. Barely.

*********************************************************************

"We were fucking lucky back there! All of us could have died, and especially you three," he said to Ginny, Ron and Hermione. "You really too much on your magic and your wands to protect you. They don't have a spell that will stop a sword from going through your heart, and that's why we made it out of there alive.

"Harry you did well enough with the sword, but I think it's be good if we all had a bit of training in trusting ourselves more than our magic, and using the weapons. They are magical you know, so they are like long, sharp, deadly wands. Use them as such and don't rely so much on those thin wooden sticks that's couldn't hurt a fly. Come on people. Don't you see, we are fighting for the world right now! All the people you love, care for, miss, or even hate. We have to win."

And with that he sat down, the sword falling from his hands. It was coated in blood and had it not been covered by the dragon scale scabbard, it would have made a bad mess. He pulled off his black leather jacket, the scroll lodged in the pocket sprinkled in Seamus' blood.

He revealed a black t-shirt with a liquid look around the midsection. There was a rip there and he moaned and stood up, walking to the bathroom.

"Harry, you got an extra t-shirt I can wear?" he asked and Harry instructed him where to find it. "Any gauze and bandages?" Hermione spoke then,

"Why don't you just heal it with magic?"

"I like the scars. Scars are a testament to things you've done, to the world you've seen, an they make you different. Plus, chicks dig battle scars," he shouted, laughter in his voice. He walked out of Harry's room wearing a white t-shirt.

"Why did you need the bandages, I don't see anything?" Ron asked. TK pulled up the shirt from the bottom and revealed toilet paper wrapped around his stomach. Even through it, you could see the evidence of blood. "How?" Ron asked.

"No one get mad, but well ah, I was running from one of the Death Eaters and Hermione didn't see me, so she swung her sword back to strike and it hit me in the stomach," he said, looking apologetically at Hermione, as if he was the wrong one. She smiled weakly and the went and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.

Keyword tight. TK groaned in pain but went with it and then they all sat to watch the New Years celebration.

**********************************************************************

"What happened? How could you not have handled five runts? How could you have let them escape? I mean, you had a powerful succubae/vampire, and a horde of my servants, and you failed?

"We lost Mcnair, Anderson, Grey and Andrews. What do you have to say for yourself?" The Dark Lord was pacing in anger.

"He was one of them."

"Malfoy, who, pray tell, was one of them."

"Balance. And he had one of the Dragon's Sword. The Queen's Sword," came the answer.

"And Potter has the other."

Voldemort's eyes bugged and then a look of anger fell on him. He growled and then spoke finally.

"That power in that group is too much. We need one of them on our side as a spy and as bait to lure one of them into our final trap." And with that they all disappeared from the scene with light pops, and within a day they had their spy...

(A/N: Hi people. The action in this past chapter isn't anything compared to California. I know its cliché for the OC to be from America, but there is a reason and a meaning for it.

Also, remember the meeting from the first chapter between Voldie and TK? Well it gets really important, and as soon as they hit America, that girl he was willing to die for will become clearer. Also, wonder why Voldemort wants to recruit TK, and why he wouldn't kill him? Only time will tell!

Who is the spy? We know it isn't TK or Harry because they both hate Voldemort too much, but that leaves the other three. And how did he do it? Promise for Money, Love, Knowledge? Review please.)
