Chapter Two: Daydreaming

It had been four days since the 'incident' as he called it. It was only four days ago that he realized that there was something in his life that was lacking. It was something he was aching for. He sat in Potions class thinking about all of this. Thinking about the last four days.

If it weren't for his stupidity he would have never run into her. Thinking about it brought warmth to his cheeks. He flushed for no reason and he knew that was why his friends had all been giving him weird looks. It felt as though he was someone else, somewhere else. That was exactly who and where he wanted to be. Looking towards the front of the room he couldn't stop himself from thinking about her.

"She has these captivating brown eyes." He thought. Or at least he thought he was thinking it to himself, but as he said it, about twenty pairs of eyes turned around and looked at him. He didn't notice though. He was somewhere else, where he couldn't be touched. Professor Snape even stopped lecturing about his potion and eyed Draco suspiciously, Draco continued, nonetheless. "Like, chocolate. Warm - melting - chocolate."

Draco's eyes drooped and he laid his chin on his hands. A smile crept along his thin lips. Laughter began to fill the classroom as everyone looked at Draco. He didn't know what they were laughing at. Thinking that it was someone behind him, he shot out of his trance and turned around. No one was there. He shot everyone glares and questioning looks. Then he looked up to Professor Snape.

"What's so funny?" Draco asked. Professor Snape rolled his eyes while Draco looked around at everyone who was giggling at him. The worst part was the fact that this room was full of Gryffindors. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were among them. They too, were laughing slightly. Draco looked back to Professor Snape waiting for an explanation.

"Daydreaming out loud, Mr. Malfoy." Suddenly Draco could feel his cheeks reddening, as they got hotter and hotter. He felt himself sink into his chair as everyone started quietly laughing again. Draco then set his head on the desk face down and mumbled something incoherent to the others. "Please, if it's a girl you wish to talk about, save it for after my class."

Draco nodded, his head still down on the table. He was more embarrassed then he had ever felt in the last five years at school. It was even more embarrassing than the whole Bouncing Ferret episode, which he still hasn't lived down. He heard everyone slowly begin to quiet down and return his or her attention back to Professor Snape. Professor Snape then started his lecture about his potion over and Draco was forced to take notes.

After class was over, he got up from his chair quickly and hurried out of the dungeon. He heard Crabbe and Goyle just behind him, trying as fast as they could to catch up. They didn't and Draco walked down the corridor alone. Frankly, he didn't care. There was then a small sniggering from just behind him and the pitter-patter of three pairs of feet. Turning around slowly, he saw to whom they belonged. This brought a scowl to his face.

"What are you laughing at?" he asked them as he came to a halt. They stopped too, right in front of him and stopped their laughing.

"Don't worry, Malfoy, we all know about your ickle fancy,"

"Shut it, Potter," Draco sneered, but that didn't get them to stop.

"Oh, is Draky scared we might tell the whole school?"

"Eat dung, Weasel," They laughed a little more and then shook their heads. Did they really know? Draco wondered. He glared at them. Then the Mudblood spoke. He hated her the most of all of them. She was a ridiculous know-it-all, who showed him up in everything and frankly, that rubbed him the wrong way. "Got something to add to this pathetic quarrel, Mudblood?"

A thin evil grin curled along Draco's lips as he watched with angry eyes as Hermione gasp loudly. He watched as Ron stepped out in front of her and pulled out his wand. He saw too, when Harry pulled out his own wand and began a spell. Draco, knowing no way out of this situation pulled out his own wand and yawned.

They all pointed their wands at the opposing side. Whereas, there were two wands pointed at Draco and he couldn't decide who to point his at. Then, he didn't have to decide because Ron quickly threw his wand aside and lunged at Draco with flaring arms. He knocked Draco in the left cheek with his fist and Draco was sent hurtling backward. He landed on the hard cobblestone floor as Ron landed on top of him, securing him with more and more blows to the face.

Draco lifted his own arms and punched back in defense and he managed to slug Ron right across the nose. There was a quite moment when a splinter of blood fell and landed on Draco's cheek. Ron sent another fist heading towards Draco's face. Draco closed his eyes tightly, waiting for the blow, but it never came. Opening his eyes, he looked up to where Hermione and Harry were holding Ron back. Draco propped himself on his elbows and tried to get away from Ron's weight. It was hopeless.

He could taste his own blood from the huge cut on his lip. His eye felt like a bee had just stung him. He knew that it would probably be a shiner in the morning. There was this sickening yelp, which he heard coming out of his own mouth as Ron directed a kick into his ribs, before Harry and Hermione pulled him off completely. Draco looked up as the figures began to blur. His eyes drooped to a close and a slight, murmuring of "Oh no," was the last thing he heard.
