I thought I'd give this idea a try. I don't know it the plot lines over used or not, and quite frankly I don't care, cause this is MY story, regardless of whether a similar things been done before. Anyways, I'm using Stephanie Myers description of vampires for most of it, but my vampires can age and obviously I don't own anything you don't recognise and quite a bit more. Enjoy!!

I jogged through the forbidden forest, trying to keep up with the shadowy figure in front of me. For months I had been stalking him like this, and no one was the wiser. Of course, I had normally lost him by now, so tonight was something special indeed.

I peered through the darkness, the fog around me making it hard for me to see, but I didn't dare light my wand. I could no longer see him, so I abruptly stopped, listening for the crunch of the grass as he trod over it. I could hear no sound though. Shoot, I had lost him again.

Slowly I turned around and began the long trek back to Hogwarts, this time being careful to be quiet, so that I wasn't heard. The trees began to thin and soon I was once again standing in the fresh night air. I began to move towards the castle, my feet dragging with exhaustion when I heard the most primitive scream of pain I had ever heard; it didn't even sound human.

Without thinking, I stupidly turned around and ran back into the forest, following the sound of the screams. I got closer and closer, the screaming continually becoming weaker, making me run faster.

Suddenly I came into a clearing and through the fog I could see a figure bent over a centaur lying on the ground. I stepped on a twig and as it cracked the figure looked up at me, hunger in his black eyes, blood streaming from his mouth and down his chin. His blonde hair was practically luminescent and in that moment I feared for my life.

"Granger," he rasped, his hands shaking, "get out of here now."

I couldn't move though, my brain was still processing what had just happened. "You're a vampire?" I whispered, waiting for him to tell me that this was just some twisted joke, or that I had fallen over whilst tailing me and was now hallucinating.

He didn't tell me either of those though. Instead I watched as he shook his head, as if trying to get water out of his ears, his fingers ripping at his skin.

Suddenly he lunged at me, grabbing my wrists in on hand and pinning me against the tree. I shivered against his cold skin and, as if in a trance found myself staring into his eyes, no matter how hard I tried to break contact. Surely his eyes hadn't always been that dark.

I could see that he was still struggling against whatever it was that currently possessed him, and I stilled, hoping that he would suddenly forget that I was there.

Eventually something snapped inside him and I heard him snarl before pressing his ice cold lips to my neck and ripping into the milky white skin with his teeth and feasting on the blood that lay beneath.

Suddenly aware of what he was doing I lashed out him, kicking his shins and hitting his chest; it was no good though, hitting him was like hitting a brick wall.

Desperately I slapped him across the cheek and he seemed to come to, springing away from me like I was a disease, which, given his views on blood status, I probably was. His eyes were no longer black, but the lightest blue and I found myself staring at him again.

And then the pain began.

It started as a heat in my neck despite the cold that I was feeling; as if someone had held a light bulb against the spot where he had bitten me, whilst hitting every other part of my body with a Freezing Charm.

The burning sensation continued to increase, until it felt like someone had lit my neck on fire. In that moment I wanted to die with such a passion that I'm surprised I didn't somehow kill myself. If this pain didn't stop soon, I was sure that I would go completely crazy. I guess though, if I was crazy, I probably wouldn't feel the pain.

Shaking I slid down the tree, hugging my legs to myself. Beads of perspiration rolled off my forehead, and I struggled to stop the tears that hazed my vision from escaping my eyes. I tried to channel the pain into something constructive, but my attempts were futile and the pain kept getting worse and worse as I tried to fight it away. Eventually exhaustion overcame me and I slipped into grateful unawareness.
