Chapter 1

July 31st 2002

Hermione Granger Malfoy lay on her huge bed with two newly born babies on either side of her, looking pale and exhausted, but happy, nevertheless. Her husband, Draco Malfoy, stood behind her, grinning proudly. Cameras flashed as the reporters asked questions.

"What will be the boys named?" shouted one journalist.

"We haven't decided yet," said Draco.

"How do you feel now, Mr. Malfoy, after having sired two sons?"

"Proud and happy."

"How about you, Mrs. Malfoy?"

"Happy, but exhausted. It's a tough job."

"Does that mean that you will not have any more kids?"

"We may try for a daughter...later," added Draco hastily at 'the look' from his wife.

"Who will be the Godparents?"

"Ronald Weasley and Virginia Longbottom," said Hermione.

"Will you name one of them after your dead father, Mr. Malfoy?"

"No," Draco replied curtly.

"Had your parents been alive, Mr. Malfoy, would they have allowed you to marry a Muggle-born and have half-blood children?"

"No use thinking about that," said Draco calmly, but Hermione could see that he was angry. She took the matter into her own hands.

"Will you please leave now? I'm feeling rather tired and would like to rest. You may want to talk to Ginny Weasley; she was the Mediwitch who delivered our children," she said politely.

Quite a few of the reporters nodded understandingly. They left after congratulating the couple again.

"I'm glad they're gone," said Hermione. Draco nodded.

Hermione climbed out of the bed, careful not to disturb the sleeping babies. She put her arms around Draco and said softly, "Calm down, love."

Draco muttered something incoherent about reporters and their big noses. Hermione nodded sympathetically. They flopped down on the bed and gazed at the children.

"They're adorable," cooed Hermione.

"Yeah. I didn't know that the most powerful wizards on earth would be so cute."

"What do we name them?"

"I don't know, Herm. Something that sounds nice with Malfoy."

"We'll have to name him," she pointed at the sleeping baby Harry, "something that can be shortened to Harry...how about Heron?"

"Nice. And Crinon - Cory?"

"Perfect!"

"Welcome to the family, Heron Malfoy and Crinon Malfoy!"

"Harry and Cory!"

"Middle names?"

"Let's see...how's Crinon Alexander Malfoy?" Hermione suggested.

"Heron Ignatius Malfoy?"

"Done!"

Hermione smiled at Draco. He smiled back. They were so much in love. And of course, winning the Witch Weekly Most Attractive Couple Award was nice, too.

"I'd like a daughter, too, you know," he said softly.

"Later, Mr. Malfoy. We have two sons to look after right now. Let them grow up a bit first."

"We can look after three at a time..."

"Honestly, Draco, you're beginning to sound like a Weasley!"

Draco pouted.

"All right. Five years and no more," he said.

"We'll see."

Draco was prevented from retorting by Ron's arrival. Luna followed right behind him.

"How're the boys?" Ron asked, moving over to the bed to look at the babies.

"Aww...they're so cute!" exclaimed Luna.

Ron picked up Cory and stroked his cheek. The baby gurgled happily in his sleep. He put him down and did the same to Harry.

"What have you named them?" Luna asked.

"Heron and Crinon," said Draco.

"Harry and Cory," said Hermione at the same time.

Ron arched an eyebrow.

"Harry?" he croaked, his voice painful. Hermione nodded, tears in her eyes.

"He was our best friend, Ron," she said softly and shot him a warning glare when Luna wasn't looking.

"I think they have done well," said Luna, putting an arm around Ron's waist. Ron nodded.

"We'll see you, then," he said, "I just came to see the Malfoy heirs."

"You're their Godfather, Ron. Ginny's Godmother, ok?"

Ron flushed with pleasure.

"Sure thing, mate!"

"How's Sylvia doing, by the way?" Hermione asked Luna. Sylvia Weasley was the daughter of Ron and Luna, born exactly nine months after their marriage. She was a rather pretty child, with the traditional Weasley red hair and Luna's protuberant eyes.

The departure of Ron and Luna Weasley was followed by the arrival of Neville and Ginny Longbottom. Ginny held nine month old Douglas Longbottom in her arms.

"Hey Ginny! Hey Neville! Hey Doug!" called out Hermione as soon as she saw them.

"Hi," said Neville shyly, while Ginny merely rushed to the babies. She put down Doug next to the sleeping boys. Doug promptly fell asleep.

"They'll all go to Hogwarts together someday," said Ginny dreamily.

"Congratulations, Hermione. You too, Malfoy," said Neville. He had grown up a lot, and was no longer the frightened boy they knew at Hogwarts. He was still a bit on the corpulent side, though, and Ginny, being as talented a cook as her mother, didn't help things much. Neville had taken up the Herbology post at Hogwarts after Professor Sprout's demise three years ago.

"Thanks, Longbottom," said Draco. They were friendly enough to each other, but they had never really become friends like their wives.

"What have you named them?" Neville asked.

"Heron and Crinon," said Hermione, while Draco said, "Harry and Cory," simultaneously. They both started laughing.

"Good choice," said Neville. Ginny nodded brightly.

"Gin, you and Ron are Godparents," said Draco.

"Cool," was all Ginny could say. She could see why it was to be so. After all they four were the only ones who knew what this was all about other then Dumbledore, Snape and McGonagall, and those three could not be made Godparents, could they?
