Chapter 11

The scent of daises met Lily's nose when she woke up the next morning. As she opened her eyes, she saw that there were daises all over her room. There must be at least five dozen daises in here, she thought. Who would be sending me flowers, she wondered? She looked through all the flowers for a card, but there was none to be found. Oh well, I could use a secret admirer right now, she thought as she got dressed.

As she was tying a ribbon in her hair, there was a knock at her door. When she opened it, James was standing there.

"Who sent you all these flowers?" he asked picking one up and smelling it.

"I have no idea. There was no card with them. They were here when I woke up."

"You have a secret admirer! They couldn't have picked a better time to express their love."

"Please, James, I don't want to talk or think about yesterday."

"Ok, that's fine. Whatever makes you happy," he replied

As they started out of her room, Lily felt James' arm encircle her waist. Why do I get a tingling feeling all over whenever he touches me? He's just a friend, she told herself. She allowed him to walk her to the Great Hall.

***************

Severus kept playing last night's events back in his mind. He had told Lucius this morning, and to his surprise, he pulled up his robe sleeve to reveal a matching tattoo.

"Congratulations!" Lucius had told him, but he didn't feel like this was something to celebrate.

While they were talking outside the Great Hall, Severus saw Lily walk by with James, who had his arm around her waist. That guy wastes no time, but I'll get him. He started towards Lily, but she walked past him without even glancing his way. She must really be mad at me. I guess I really messed things up.

Breakfast passed slowly for Severus. He didn't pay attention to those around him, because he was too busy coming up with a way to get back at Potter. Then it came to him. We're practicing blocking curses in Defense Against Dark Arts tomorrow, and Potter and I are partners. He'll be sorry he ever talked to Lily about me.

Severus spent every free minutes that day looking up curses in How to Get Revenge. That night, along with preparing The Pure Potion, Severus practiced the curses he's found until they were perfect. Potter's going down tomorrow!

**************

That night, James and Lily were sitting in the common room in front of the fire doing their Divination homework. I wonder if the stars have love in my future, James wondered. His thoughts were interrupted by Lily's soft voice.

"Look, James! On the fourteenth of February, you're going to divulge your biggest secret. Are you going to tell someone that you love them?" she inquired with a playful tone.

Finally, the skies have something important to say. I was thinking about telling Lily the truth on Valentine's Day, and I guess this is a sign.

"You'll just have to wait until February to find out!" he replied with a hint of mystery in his voice.

"James has a crush on someone!" Lily announced to the others in the common room.

A few turned around to see what the commotion was about. James could feel his cheeks turning red. If she only knew who it was.

"Lily, shut up and sit down!" James commanded with a grin.

He pulled her down and she toppled on top of him. They both fell over laughing. Their fellow Gryffindors just laughed and went back to their work. Falling in love is the greatest thing in the world, James thought to himself as he and Lily collected themselves and their belongings.
