The next morning Snape woke earlier than the day before, probably because he had barely slept any during the previous night. He put a spell on his robes to make them much bigger, then put a spell on his big belly. The little ones were now moving inside their daddy as he climbed the stairs to the Great Hall. As there was no cure for morning sickness, Pomfrey had advised Snape to eat near a bathroom for the first three weeks or so, but he wouldn't hear of it.
As he jovially entered the Great Hall, he noticed the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Seinfield, eyeing him closely. Severus waved, which he was surprised at, as he never usually waved to someone. Seinfield's gaze seemed to harden, so Severus didn't look at him throughout the rest of the meal.
In his first class of the year, Snape put the ingredients on the blackboard for the 5th years and scowled; he had to remain as close to his old self as possible, so no one would be suspicious.
He tried to remain calm after he accidentally knocked over Colin Creevey's cauldron with his stomach, which had somehow burst free of the robes. Trying his best to hide it as he fixed the busted buttons on the cloth, he was secretly blaming himself harshly for the spill of the cauldron's contents. Now the Draught of Silence had been ruined! Colin would have to redo it... but, with the old Snape taking back the reigns, it would be fun to take away house points....
As he was fighting a losing battle on the inside, on the outside it was much worse: he had excused himself from his own class, and went to the nearest lavatory, sat on the seat, pouring his eyes out. This was a very strange sight. After finally regaining his calm, he returned to the class.

At dinner, he saw Madam Pomfrey beckoning him over. Now, this was also a strange sight; she almost never left the hospital wing unless her patient was unable to come to her, and you never saw her at dinner unless it was a feast, which it wasn't.
"Professor!" she called, swiftly moving her hands as to sweep him over.
"Yes?" he asked, wondering what she was doing on the ground floor.
"I have just remembered to tell you: in one month, you are going to come live up in the private quarters of the hospital wing," she paused, "so I can keep an eye on you."
He was outraged. Stepping forward and about to argue, a hand abruptly came to rest gently on his shoulder.
"Poppy and I thought it to be best," Dumbledore said calmly as he unwrapped a Fizzing Whizbee and walked away humming a Muggle tune.
"But--"
"It'll feel right at home for you and your children."
She then placed a warm hand on his swelling stomach, and went up the stairs to the 5th floor.

Three weeks had passed. Snape's overgrown belly was now hard to miss, even with the many charms he did every morning. His robes were now so small that with the slightest movement from the twins, they came unfastened and would show the man who got knocked up. Rumors were already flying by the 3rd week he had been in this condition, and quite frankly, he was getting tired of it.
He was now visiting the hospital wing twice a day, one after he woke and one late at night, when they were sure hardly anyone would be roaming the corridors. One evening near the end of September, and only a few days till he would move to the hospital wing for the rest of the four and a half month-period, he arrived for his second checkup, and then began to complain about some throbbing in his lower part of his chest. Pomfrey laughed when she heard.
"Nothing to worry about, Professor! Just the babies kicking is all."
So that's what was the intense, almost constant pain... babies. He laughed along with her as she hooked him up to the mirror machine used before.
Now looking into the almost-developed faces of his children, he saw the girl had dark hair and green eyes, with Lily's cute "button" nose, but the boy had a big nose, with just a bit lighter hair and green eyes. Neither one had his eyes, only Lily's... and Severus was grateful. He'd always hated his eyes.
