Undiscovered: A Lifetime of Lies(Year One)

Chapter Two

Okay, okay, I guess I can't technically hate this question because it is probably the first time I have ever heard it. But, my point is I do hate this question now.

Why do I hate this question you ask? Well the answer is simple really. I have no idea what the origin of my family is. The part that's not simple is the explaining that has to go into it for you and everyone to understand.

You see I used to have parents. I had parents right up until I was two years old. Then for some reason, the day after my second birthday, Mrs. Willows opened the door to see little two year old me sitting on the porch. Of coarse she ran an orphanage and took me right in.

She became my mother. All the adoptive parents never wanted me, they all said I was odd. Okay, I have bright purple eyes, but other than the fact that I'm a witch I'm perfectly normal. Well, on my tenth birthday I finally got up the courage to ask her how she found me. And so she told me....

She woke up on a bright and early morning to start to cry. Her daughter had died just two weeks ago from a heart attack. Her daughter had loved the early morning sunshine and wonderful flower fragrance in the air. When she finally got herself together enough to go face twelve screaming orphans she heard one of the workers open the door and screech.

It took her a total of five seconds to get down the stairs. When she got to the door

the worker who had screeched was standing at the door way with a very surprised expression on her face. "What...?" Mrs. Willows began to ask when the worker simply pointed out the door onto the porch where I lay asleep. Mrs. Willows quickly went out to scoop me up. She took me inside and set me in a crib where I started to wake with dreary little eyes and stare around curiously. At that point Mrs. Willows found that some parchment was attached to my pant legs.

At this part of her telling me how she found me she kind of sniffled, gathered herself back together, and shuffled over to her desk and opened her drawer. When she came back she handed me a piece of parchment and said in a small voice, "This was the letter...."

I took the parchment gingerly. This was it! I was going to find out about my parents! Find out Where I came from!

I was quite disappointed. It was somewhat short and simple and told little about who I was and am today. It read,

Dear Caretaker,

This is our daughter. I am afraid I will have to leave her in your care anonymously.

Her name is Leona M. I cannot tell you her middle or whole last name. I also cannot tell you my name for you might return her to us. She is simply a disgrace and poison to our whole family. She has not the characteristics of my family. She is too good hearted and most likely will not follow our ways.

I am sincerely sorry that I cannot explain more thoroughly. You would not understand in any case.

Thank you for taking her for us. And for further reference her birthday was yesterday, May sixth. She just turned two. Her first word was: "Love."

When I was finished I found my self crying. I couldn't help it. I hated to cry, I really did. If I could hold it in I did. So me sitting there crying my eyes out was something very big to both me and Mrs. Willows.

A year later Mrs Willows died. My magic started kicking in and I was shunted even more by the other kids. Miss Naomi called me into Mrs. Willows old office. The office was different, all her pictures of me and her real daughter growing up were gone, all the lovely paintings she had painted with me, even the lovely smell of cinnamon was gone. It was all packed away in a little box by the door.

"Mrs. Willows has stated in her will that she would like you to have everything in this office. I have packed it all in that box there for you to take to your room. She also said that she wanted you to have this...." said Miss Naomi and pulled out a gold box and handed it to me then sent me to my room with the box of office stuff and the little gold box.

When I got to my room there was also a new big trunk with my initials on it. I noticed a little note was sitting on the trunk. I went over and read it with numb fingers.

Leona,

This trunk was also left in your possession by Wilma Willows. It contains the rest of the things from the office that would not fit into the box I gave you.

Naomi

I silently unloaded the trunk and box with all Mrs. Willows office stuff in them and decorated my room with all of it. When I was done all that was left was the little gold box that was sitting on my bed. I went over to it and opened it.

It contained five items. The first was yet another folded note I half expected to be from Miss Naomi ,but then I noticed the neat curly letters that were Mrs. Willows'. I picked it up and read it.

Dear Leona,

This is my special trinket box. I used to keep all my memories of my daughter in it and now you will use to keep all your memories of me, yourself, my family, your family, and future things your life will bring to you.

I hope you don't mind but I have left a few things in the box that I hope you will leave in there for me? These things were both dear to me and now I hope to you as well.

I know you have gone through a lot in your life but you must always remember, as long as the people you love are with you, you will be fine. Though I may be gone, you will find and make many friends in your future. I am sure of it.

Now I will leave you here. Remember to never linger over my death, I loved you and you loved me, I have died...don't waste your life mourning death when you can be living life.

With the most love in the world,

Mrs. Wilma Willows

Your most loving Mother

P.S. Remember that your first word was love. Love with all of your heart and you will be loved back just as much.

I blinked. Inside of me a great happiness welled inside of me. I moved over to the bed still smiling like nuts and picked the box back up.

The second item in the box was the piece of parchment that was with me when I was found on the doorstep. My wild happiness was diminished slightly. I stared at it with daggers in my eyes for about five whole minutes. I finally sighed and put it on the bed, on top of the letter from Mrs. Willows.

The next two things were photographs. The first one was of Elizabeth and George, Mrs. Willows' daughter and husband. They were hugging and smiling brightly. The second photo was of Mrs. Willows and me. We were hugging. I remembered the day the picture was taken. It was from Christmas. We had it taken in a store with one of those guys that dress up like Santa Clause and you get to sit on his lap. The fake Santa was sitting there with the fake smile he had on for all the pictures he had to take with wacky people. Wilma and I were standing on either side of him smiling and leaning over him to hug each other.

The fifth and last item in the box was a locket. It was gold and silver intertwined together to make a gorgeous heart. On the inside was a quote that I today call "Wilma's last words."

She was on one side of the locket and I on the other. When I opened it, it expanded like an accordion. On the accordion part of the locket were the words, "Love with all of your heart and you will be loved back just as much."

Dumbledore came four months later to tell me I was a witch and deliver my school things.

So when I looked up at Seamus to give an explanation I said, "I had a great mother that was a muggle!" While I stated this I clung onto that locket with a smile and a lot of love in my heart.
