Harry Potter and the Green Skull

1. Junk Mail

It had been exactly 12 days since Harry had left Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And ever since then, Harry had been worrying about almost everything. It had been a year of absolute hell for him and his friends. Cedric Diggory, a fellow student had been murdered by Lord Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard known to live, who Harry had supposedly killed when he was one years old, had returned, and most importantly, Harry had no idea what was going on in the wizarding world.
Harry sat up in bed, and looked at himself. He was almost fifteen, and during the last two weeks, his voice had finally broken, he’d started working out – giving himself a bigger torso and bigger muscles. But the problems in his world were too big for this right now. Harry looked at his watch. It was only three in the morning. He decided to write to someone. The only problem was, he had to many people he could write to, and only one owl. He could ask Ron if anything at the Ministry of Magic had happened, as Ron's Dad worked there. He could write to Hermione, and ask if she'd seen anything in The Daily Prophet, a wizard newspaper. Or, he could write to Sirius, his god-father, who was currently on the run from the Ministry for a murder he never committed. Harry had last seen him at Hogwarts, shortly after the Triwizard Tournament, in which Harry had competed in and one, at a hefty price. Professor Dumbledore had sent Sirius to round up some people, known as the 'old crowd'. Harry assumed they were either some old friends of Sirius and possibly his dad, or they were a group of spies who worked for Dumbledore. Harry wondered if they would believe Sirius. But, if he'd been caught, Ron or Hermione would know, and they would have told Harry by now. Sirius would probably be at Lupin's, another old friend of Sirius and his father, as that was where Dumbledore told him to lie low. Harry would be surprised Sirius hadn't been hiding there already. Harry made up his mind, and picked up a piece of parchment and a quill, and started to write.

Dear Sirius,
I'm not entirely sure why I'm writing this, as I haven't got much
to say, but I was wondering what Dumbledore had sent you off to do. I know it has something to do with Lupin, and some people called the 'old crowd', but apart from that, I have no idea. If Lupin's there, say Hi from me, okay?

Harry

Harry re-read the letter. It sounded stupid, but what else could he write. He had nobody else to write to, and Sirius was as good as anybody, if not better. Sirius was like family, and his only link to his parents. He was also the only adult who cared for Harry, as if he was his own. Except, Harry paused, that wasn’t entirely true. Mrs Weasley spent a lot of time fussing over Harry. When everyone thought Sirius was going to kill Harry, Harry overheard Mr and Mrs Weasley were arguing about the fact that nobody had told Harry about this. Then they started arguing about the Dementors, and Mr Weasley said he'd never liked them, but if they saved Harry, he'd never speak against them again. Then, last year, just before the Third task in the Triwizard Tournament, when the champion's families were supposed to come to the school to talk to them before the big event, Mrs Weasley and Bill, Ron's oldest brother, had been there. Mrs Weasley had also hugged him after the events that followed the Triwizard Tournament. In a way, Harry thought, the Weasleys were like a kind of family. Which reminded him, why had Dumbledore said he had to return to the Dursleys in the summer? Then it hit him. There was obviously some sort of curse or spell protecting him here. Whereas, at the Weasley's, Voldemort and his Death-Eaters could strike him down easily.
Harry went over to Hedwig's cage, and prodded her. She leapt up, looking extremely annoyed, but looked a little more pleased, when she saw Harry had a note for her. "Take it to Sirius, Hedwig." Harry went to open the window, and just as Hedwig was about to take off, when a small owl came flying around the room. It was Ron’s owl, Pig. “Shh!” Harry hissed at it, and it perched itself in Hedwig’s cage. Harry took the note from it, and opened it. Out fell a note, and a chocolate bar wrapper. Harry stared at it, and was about to touch it, when he realised what it was. “A Portkey.” Harry whispered. Harry then picked up the note, and read it.

Harry,
DON’T TOUCH THE WRAPPER! It’s a Portkey that’ll teleport you from your Aunt and Uncle’s to our house. It took ages for mum to persuade Dumbledore to let you come over, and he only finally agreed to stay if we come and pick you up. But, Dad’s really busy at work, so they were just going to pick you up at the weekend. But, Fred and George suggested that you travel by Portkey, so they made one. How, without using magic, I’ll never guess, but I guess that’s that. Come over tomorrow some time, okay?

See you tomorrow!

Ron

PS- There’s something I need to tell you...

Harry stared at the note, then at the wrapper. Harry got up, and slid the note under the wrapper. Then, he placed the note carefully on the desk. Harry decided, that in the morning, he’d ask the Dursleys. Though, Harry wondered whether they’d let him go this time. Last time, the Weasley twins, Fred and George, had dropped a special sweet that they’d been making, and Harry’s cousin, Dudley, ate it. Then Dudley’s tongue grew too about four feet long before Mr Weasley had been able to stop it. The Dursley's had now been even colder towards Harry since he’d returned. Not that Harry had cared up until now. Harry’s mind had been on other things. Still, he’d ask them in the morning, and if they said no, he’d go anyway. He also took the letter for Sirius, and added at the bottom,

PS - If you need to contact me, I’ll be at Ron’s house.

Harry then attached to Hedwig, who flew off, alongside with Pig. Harry then got back into bed, and tried to think of a way to make the Dursleys say he could go. Even if he’d said he’d go anyway, it didn’t mean that he’d want to.
