Several days later, as Harry was returning to his room after breakfast, he found a note tacked to the door of his room. It said,

Harry,

We need to talk, please join us in Dad's study.

Ron, Fred, George, Charlie and Bill

It wasn't until well after dark that he was able to make it back to his room.

Dear Ginny,

In case you didn't notice, I wasn't able to join you for a walk today. I also wasn't able to get in any quidditch practice, or lunch, or dinner for that matter. Just for the record, I didn't stand you up, and I wasn't kidnapped by Voldemort's forces, though I suspect I might have had an easier time with them then what I had to go through today. It seems, that your ever loving brothers have discovered the nature of our walks and the fact that in between slapping me silly for my feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing that you've been snogging me senseless. Needless to say, your brothers were not quite as liberated to the idea of their sister dating as we had thought. Never mind the furtive look your brother gave me on the train last June.

It would appear, they would rather that their sister didn't date at all. And if she must, that she date someone who she will never come into any physical contact with whatsoever. You know, someone living on the other side of the planet, or preferably, living on another planet altogether. They didn't want to hear anything at all about the fact that there isn't any life on other planets and that it was unlikely you'd meet someone from the other side of the planet. It seems they're totally undaunted by the laws of physics when it comes to protecting you.

For the record, Bill is in the middle of an inventory of empty Egyptian vaults to stick me in, Charlie is looking into the permits needed to import a dragon from Romania, Fred and George mentioned making me their new test subject and Ron, well I'm not sure what Ron was rambling about. I could only make out snitch, scissors, honey and ants.

How hard do you think it would be to brink that Basilisk back to life? I think it might come in handy right about now. And don't give me any of that nonsense about them being your brothers and you being able to handle them young missy. You vixen. There's five of them, and they seemed quite content to intimidate me through sheer numbers.

Before you start scolding me for being so scared, I had every reason to be. Facing your brothers can be incredibly intimidating in case you've never done it before. Did you know Bill has a new wand? Oak, ten and a half inches, veela hair. I think those English lessons he's giving Fleur are paying off, in the wrong bloody direction.

Charlie showed me his new pair of boots, dragon hide, which he made HIMSELF.

Fred and George, well you know what they can be like. They were going on and on and on describing to your brothers the new Cockroach Creams they've made. Yes, just like the Canary Creams except the victim has a tendency to go splat if people don't watch where they're walking.

At least Ron didn't mention writing to Moody to find out how to turn me into a ferret. I might be able to outrun him if he starts to look at me funny. I hope.

They also mentioned your cousin who's an accountant. Please Ginny, for the love of whatever it is your perverted little mind holds dear, and make no mistake, what you did with your hands last night is perverted, get me out of this mess.

I think I might actually love you, but not enough to become an accountant. That's not something I would wish on anyone, not even that fat bloated warthog, well maybe her.

Is this why you dragged me out my shell Ginny? So your brothers could lynch me? Cause that's what they seem to have in mind, at least that's the impression I got from the insane looks they were giving me.

Please tell me I'm overreacting to all this Ginny, because quite frankly, I don't think I seriously doubt I can take much more of this. I mean, I suppose big brothers are supposed to be protective and all, but it's taking all my effort to keep my hand from shaking as I write this to you, and I'm quite tired of the feeling.

Like I said, I think I might have feelings for you Ginny and I'd really like to find out if that's true, but if that's the gauntlet I have to run, I might have

Look, I think we need to take a step back here until they calm down to all this. I mean, I know that's not what you want to here and you're probably going to be sending several hexes my way, but after everything that's happened, facing all of your brothers like that is not something I have the emotional strength to go through right now.

Even with everything you've done for me and everything I'm feeling for you right now, it's all still very raw for me and I really don't think it's fair I have to face all your brothers lining up against me like that.

I realize Bill and Charlie don't know me all that well, but after all this time haven't I earned at least a small measure of trust from Ron and the twins? Or does everything we've been through count for nothing?

Maybe I should just go back to the Dursleys for the rest of the summer. I know I'll be upsetting them by doing that, and I'm fairly sure it'll upset you. And believe me, it's not something I'm looking forward to, but maybe it will ease the tension around here just a little bit. The last thing I want to do is start tearing your family apart anymore because they don't trust me to have feelings for you.

I mean, look at how Percy reacted to Ron just being friends with me. I couldn't bear to be the reason another of your brothers chose to distance himself from you because of me.

You mean a lot to me Ginny, a lot more then I ever realized you did, a lot more then I ever realized you could. And if nothing else ever happens between us I'll always be grateful for what you've done for me over the last month with your letters and what you've written to me in this journal. Not to mention those kisses of yours. But I can't be with you if it's going to cost you your family.

And from the conversation I just had with your brothers, it might just come down to that, and that's a totally unfair question for anyone to have to answer, so I choose to not let them ask you.

With much love, respect, friendship and admiration,

Harry

With a heavy heart and melancholy sigh, Harry closed the journal and magically sealed it before putting it aside so he could pack his possessions back into his trunk. He reckoned he'd wait until everyone was asleep before leaving the journal at Ginny's doorstep and then catching the Knight Bus back to his aunt and uncle's house. He was so caught up in packing and thinking about everything that had happened and everything he was leaving behind, he didn't see his faithful owl swoop from her perch, take hold of the journal and fly out of the room.

Once he finished packing his chest, he closed it and turned to pick up the journal so he could take it downstairs to Ginny, he realized both the journal and Hedwig were missing.

As he frantically searched the room for the journal, he heard Ginny's voice call out in a voice so dangerous and full of anger that it made Harry's skin crawl. "Bill, Charlie, Fred, George and Ron Weasley, get yourselves downstairs right now or so help me none of you will ever wake up again!"

Realizing his plans for escaping the clutches of the Weasley brothers had been thwarted, Harry resigned himself to his fate and laid back on the bed until someone decided to call for him or he could find some other means of escaping his fate.

He listened quietly as he heard Ginny's voice echo up from the kitchen. From what Harry could make out, she seemed to be in a vile mood. Whether it was genuine or for show, Harry couldn't tell. He only knew he felt horrible that he was causing such enmity and anguish between Ginny and her brothers. This was the last thing he wanted to cause and realized that perhaps he shouldn't have written anything at all to her, despite his feelings for her.

Harry's ears soon picked up several new voices that he identified as Mr. and Mrs.Weasley. Apparently they had either been summoned or had picked up on the conversation in the kitchen as well. Their presence seemed only to intensify the nature of whatever was being discussed.

Harry debated whether or not he could sneak past them all under his invisibility cloak. He wouldn't need that much, just some of his books and a few pieces of parchment as well as a rucksack full of clothes.

He was sure whatever Ginny's parents thought of him, they'd be kind enough to forward his trunk to school come September first.

He quickly scrawled out a note asking the Weasleys asking them to look after his trunk as well as Hedwig and requesting they forward them to Hogwarts when Ron and Ginny returned there in a month's time.

Leaving the note in an obvious place in the middle of the bed, he threw his rucksack over his shoulder, draped his cloak over his entire body and slowly made his way out of the Burrow.

Harry was back in Little Whinging before the sun was up, hiding in his aunt's flowerbed until the household was awake so he could slink back into his room like the unwanted orphan he suddenly realized he was.

Throughout the night, Harry had planned on his ability to reclaim his room with the Dursleys. However, he did not count on witnessing, once the sun had risen, his aunt, uncle and cousin exiting the house with several pieces of luggage which they promptly deposited in his uncle's car.

It seemed that since they were rid of Harry for the summer, and for once without any sort of undesirable incident, they were going on vacation, to which Uncle Vernon promptly informed Harry, he was neither invited or welcome. If his freakish friends wanted to take him in, why not go back to where he came from?

After listening to his family drive off amidst their incredibly vocal howls of laughter, Harry slowly made his way to the local park where he tried to figure out what to do next with his miserable excuse for a life.

Feeling hopelessly sorry for himself, he didn't notice the small gaggle of redheads that were making their way towards him down the street.
