Author's Note:
As you should know or will soon realize, this is a play. I recommend that you read the first two chapters before this one. To make this chapter more interesting than it already is, read this while listening to "Fix You" by coldplay.

Chapter 3

Narrator: The closet was a rather large closet (thank God). Hermione was in the back, crying.

Ron: What's wrong?

Hermione turns around, startled.

Hermione: Ron...I...ah...nothing's wrong. What...what gave you that idea?

Ron: Ah...number one, there are tears in your eyes and number two, you're in a broom closet.

Hermione: (speaking softly) Right.

She collapses on a wooden chair that is next to her.

Hermione: If you want to know what the problem is, you're wasting your time because I'm not going to tell you.

Ron: Why?

Hermione: I can't answer that question, either. Why are you concerned?

Ron: Because I can't stand-

Hermione: (shouts angrily) -Me! I know that much!

Ron: No! Let me finish.

They pause.

Hermione: Sorry.

Ron: What I was going to say was...I can't stand to see you cry.

Narrator: Hermione was shocked. His words touched her heart.

Hermione: Oh...I'm sorry I-

Ron: No. I only want to know what you are crying for. Are you hurt?

Hermione: Only in a way that you can't fix me.

Ron: I can try.

Hermione: Okay...well...Ginny sprayed me with Veela Spray before the dance.

Ron: And let me guess, she sprayed too much?

Hermione: How did you know?

Ron: Well, let's see. I wake up in the middle of the hallway with a bunch of other guys and...let's just say I actually read the label.

Hermione smiles. Ron is pleased.

Hermione: Then things got out of hand and...things didn't go as planed.

Ron: What were you warring Veela Spray for?

Hermione: Well, there was someone I wanted to notice me.

Narrator: Ron's heart sank. Hermione has found someone and it's not him.

Ron: Who?

Hermione: I won't name names. I'll just describe him. Okay, he's a boy.

Ron: Hermione, I think we have already established that you're straight.

Hermione: He's tall.

Ron: (sarcastically) Oh, that really narrows it down.

Hermione: He's in Gryffindor and I see him everyday.

Ron: Do I know him?

Hermione: You know him better than he knows himself.

Ron: Oh no. It's not Harry, is it?!

Hermione: No! No, it's not Harry!

Ron: (thinking) Good, because I would have snapped my best mate in half!

Hermione: And...and...he has...red hair.

Hermione closed her eyes. She didn't want to see Ron's reaction.

Ron: Bloody Hell....You like....GEORGE!

Hermione: George?! George?! No, you idiot! YOU!

She starts crying again.

Ron: What did you say?

Hermione: I like you, okay! A lot! A lot, a lot!

Ron smiles.

Hermione: I knew it! Now you'll laugh at me for the rest of my life! I'm leaving!

Hermione runs to the door.

Ron: Wait! Stop!

Ron grabs her arm to stop her from leaving. Hermione struggles to escape his grip.

Hermione: I'm aware that you don't like me so just let me go!

Ron: Will you listen to me for second!

Hermione stops struggling to listen to him.

Ron: I'm going to tell you the absolute truth. I've...I've liked you ever since our second year. I liked you a lot...and ...and ...I still do.

Hermione and Ron lean in.

Narrator: Hermione was positively stunned. She was so stunned in fact that she didn't realize that Ron was leaning in for (what else) a kiss.

They kiss.

Narrator: A kiss so passionate that it was hard to determine how long it was. Whether it was two seconds or an hour, neither Hermione nor Ron knew. (But I'm pretty sure it was an hour.)

The lights go out on the set.

Narrator: Stay tuned for next chapter.
