Flood of Secrets

Chapter 1

What are those Muggles doing? Harry wondered, and quickly pulled on his invisibility cloak, and made his way out the door.

Once he was out in the garden, he followed the man.

Jack was trying to keep up with Marilyn, but that was hard, because she was pretty fast, even in high heels.

Robert, the chubby guy with bleached blonde hair, was sitting in the driver's seat in the van, with Rose's Floral Service on its side.

Meanwhile, Danielle Hathaway was inside her house, gathering the money to pay for the lilies. Soon, she had the fifteen pounds, and was making her way to the front door, when she was knocked over the head, and was unconscious.

"Ah, too bad. The poor Muggle's out cold... now, where's that money?" Rose cackled, and then started rummaging through Danielle's handbag.

Robert came through the open door.

"Rose?" he called, but was soon shushed.

She gestured for him to come over.

"Make sure she doesn't go anywhere. I've got to get back to that idiot husband of hers... didn't even recognize a trap, and not a very clever one, I might add!" she whispered furiously, and then grabbed Danielle's handbag, and went to the back of the house.

Minutes later, Marilyn checked to see if any of the neighbors might be watching, but she took her chance, and crept into the house.

It was silent, except for the faint sound of clicking heels, which were her shoes hitting the tiled floor.

Jack was behind her, and he silently went through the door, making sure Rose didn't see Marilyn.

But then they ran into Robert.

He turned around, and a strangled noise escaped his throat.

Then, he spoke in a business tone, "What are you doing here?" but he couldn't keep the fright out of his voice.

Marilyn looked fearlessly into his eyes.

"We want to see Rose. We, um, ordered some flowers from her yesterday, and we have the money now. Where is she?"

Robert was startled.

"Uh, she's just out back...."

Marilyn smiled her beautiful smile that Jack was so used to seeing, and thanked him.

Robert stared after her as she made her way to the back.

Jack, on the other hand, was quietly creeping upstairs by now, searching the first room he came upon for clues, which just happened to be a bathroom.

Meanwhile, Harry was just entering the house, in his invisibility cloak. He tried not to bump into anything, but it was hard, because there were tables and chairs decorating the hallway. Plus, the chubby man with bleached blonde hair he had seen earlier out with the van was standing over a young woman, with golden blonde hair.

Harry carefully slid past Robert and Danielle, and made his way to the back of the house. He had been eavesdropping, and heard Rose say that she had kidnapped Danielle's husband.

And she had called them Muggles. That meant they were definitely a witch and wizard, or else they were crazy.

He arrived at the sliding glass door that lead to the back yard, but found it locked.

"Now what am I supposed to do?" he whispered frantically, because, as you know, witches and wizards under 17 aren't allowed to use magic on summer holiday.

Harry couldn't really understand why... but he felt as though he could open it, without magic.

He tried it. Concentrating his mind on a vision of the door magically unlocking, he moved his hand towards the grip, and said as quietly and powerfully as possible, "Alohomora!"

The lock slid out from the grip and fell to the floor. Harry couldn't believe his eyes. He had just done magic out of school, without a wand!

But there was no time to waste. He pulled open the door, and stepped outside. Harry looked around, and saw what he was looking for.

Mr. Hathaway was lying on the ground unconscious, with Rose next to him.
