Chapter Three

First Day of Classes:

Ginny took one look at the common room and immediately felt at ease. This is where she belonged. It was the first day of classes; she had Arithmacy first with the Ravenclaws. It was an all right way to start the day; at least she didn't have a class with the Slytherins. Ginny could never quite get over her dislike of everything Slytherin, especially when Malfoy teased her brother and his friends consistently. Alexa was different though; she thought that not all of the Slytherins were really that bad. This was probably because she had the world's biggest crush on Blaise Zabini. Who could blame her? He was definitely one of the best looking boys in the school, with his shaggy dirty blonde hair and tall, well-built body. Until last year Ginny would have argued that Harry was the best looking boy in school, but she had promised herself that she would not waste any more time on a boy that would never look at her as anything but Ron's little sister.

"Ginny, come on, let's go, it's time for breakfast," Julianna, one of Ginny's friends called.

With one last glance around the common room, Ginny headed down to breakfast.

"Alexa, what did you do to your hair, it looks fantastic!" Ginny exclaimed.

"Thanks Gin, I cut it, the length was really starting to bother me, plus I love this short bob cut," Alexa replied.

"Well, it looks amazing...what are you looking at?" Ginny asked

"On my goodness, that has to be the best sight ever," Alexa squealed.

Ginny turned around just in time to see Blaise and Draco heading to the Slytherin table.

"Honestly Alexa, I have no idea what you see in those guys, they're mean, sarcastic, and just plain rude."

"Ginny, have you looked at them lately? They are gorgeous, and I don't think they're really all that bad. Besides, have you ever really talked to them? I bet once you get to know them, they may surprise you. I would kill to get Blaise to notice me, I'll have to think of some excuse to talk to him."

"Alexa, you know that you have no problem getting guys to notice you, I'm sure he'll come around."

"I hope your right, Ginny, because I'd die to be his date for the Yule Ball this year."

"Well, I'd better get going. I left my book in the common room and I don't particularly feel like getting a detention my first day back," Ginny said as she quickly left the table.

Walking up the stairs and into her dorm Ginny quickly found her Arithmacy book. While heading down to her classroom, she stops abruptly overhearing a conversation of some interest.

"Blaise what are you thinking? She's a Gryffindor for goodness sakes! Slytherins do not mix with bloody Gryffindors!" Draco exclaimed.

"Come on now, that's not fair. You don't even know her. She's different- she has spunk. I know that if you got to know her, you would like her," Blaise replied.

"Alright who is she then, if she is so terrific?" Draco questioned.

"Her name is Alexa and she's beautiful. She's in fifth year and I really like her," Blaise finished.

"You mean the tall girl that hangs out with Ginny?" Draco cried.

"Yeah, I happen to find her very attractive and if you tell anyone I will personally kick your ass!" Blasie threatened.

"Ohhhh, I'm really scared, Blaise. But don't worry I won't tell anyone" Draco reassured

Oh my goodness I did not hear what I think I heard. Alexa is going to absolutely flip when she hears. It's too bad I don't see her until Potions. Its weird Draco seemed fairly nice. I didn't even think he had any friends. Shoot I have to get going I only have five minutes before class starts.

Potions Class

"Alexa you will never guess what I overheard in the corridors just after breakfast," Ginny squealed.

"What please tell me it's something good cause I've been having a really crappy day," Alexa said.

"Ohh trust me you'll love this," Ginny replied.

*****************************************

"Ahhhh! He did not say that!" Alexa screamed

"Would I lie? Of course he said that. He has the hots for you!"

"Ginny thank you soo much for telling me. I've just had an awful morning but my mood has suddenly improved."

"All in a day's work," Ginny replied.

***********

You may ask yourself why I, Draco Malfoy, the best looking guy in school, of pure blood descent, powerful, clever and the list goes on has no real friends. The answer to that is something I do not know. It really sucks being alone. Sorry for lack of eloquence but I'm not in the mood right now. Today was the first day back and it was to say the very least unfulfilling. Crabbe and Goyle are as dense as ever and Granger is as obnoxious as ever. Potter and Weasley though were a very nice distraction. I just loved the way Potter looked after I threatened him. That's the way it should be, Potter has no right to hold power of me! Someone needs to teach him a lesson, and that someone may just have to be me. I have to go, Blaise just walked in and it looks like he wants to talk. He's not so bad, maybe I'll tolerate him this year, the girls seem to love him, he may be good for my image.
