Chapter one

Love is the greatest Sacrifice.

She screamed again, it was a loud shrill of pain that sliced through his body like a cold knife, it sent chills coursing up a down his spine. Every time it stopped there was a deathly silence, it was even worse than the screaming itself. Each time he had to face that she was leaving him, and truth drove him insane. He wasn't going to let it happen, not again. He burst through the doors and the screams were amplified in the enormous room. He was terrified at what he saw. She was being tortured, how could anyone want to do that to her? To his Ginny, to his wife? He was almost blinded by the tears in his eyes. They had her in the air where they were certain she could not escape without their knowledge, she was surrounded by a bright, jagged light that he guessed was the reason for her pain as when she screamed the light got brighter and sharpened itself through her skin. Below her was a man that he assumed could only be Rayon. Another scream pierced the room and through his mind, he couldn't take it anymore.

"Rayon let her go." The troll-like man turned to face him with a burned look in his eyes.

Then there was a sharp pain in his head and he suddenly realized he was on the ground, his head throbbing painfully. When he turned to see what the source of it was, he saw a well-dressed boy standing over him and smiling malevolently, he looked no older than seventeen. He fixed the cloak on his robes that draped to the ground elegantly, the silver clasp shone to echo his opulence. Draco remembered a time when he would have looked down in that same manner, but that was a very long time ago, and he had changed since then.

His sandy hair fell over his face when he looked down once more so the only thing Draco could see was the light that reflected off of his eyes. Except there was no light, if anything they shone in an eerie mode so that only the absence of the light in him was shown as if he was made there, as if it was his nature. All Draco could see was the hatred and hunger both in his eyes and in the way he stood. He recognized it, from his uncle about two years ago when his hate and hunger for revenge destroyed him. Paethozar - or Aztarophe, whichever you chose to call him - had wanted something so badly that he was willing to kill all of mankind for it, and so was Rayon.

"That was stupid of you." Draco blinked at his voice; it sounded nothing at all like he would have thought. He sounded like a man, like an innocent. But Draco knew better than that, Rayon was far from innocent. "How could you possibly think that he looks like me? Never mind, either way you do not speak to him - me in that way." He walked over him towards 'the uglier version' and they began to talk in some language that he did not understand. Draco took the opportunity to look up at Ginny. But she was already watching him, somehow after everything she was able to open her eyes and find him just like that day at the lake so long ago, when he had been too foolish to understand anything to do with love. She smiled and he wished he could just take her out of there, but he knew that wasn't possible. He knew that she would be dead by the time he reached her, it was just how Rayon was. He smiled back. He didn't even notice when the troll-faced man that passed him on his way out.

Rayon turned to face Draco but he was looking at the girl, the looks on their faces only led to one possible conclusion. For Merlin's sake they're in love? That's all that I need. Their looks were turning his stomach. Well, there was only one-way to remedy that. Caught off guard, although it wouldn't have done much anyway Ginny screamed even louder than before. It was obvious that Rayon had had more experience in this field than the other man, if that was what he really was.

"No!" Tears threatened his eyes once again.

"Tell me how to use it!" The darkness in his eyes grew with every pulsation of the hot white bolts that flew from his fingertips.

"I don't know." It was all she could say, she was so tired.

"TELL ME!" he roared. Once again the pulsations grew.

"I don't know!" It came out as a shrill. When he stopped she broke down into a sob, "I don't know I s-swear."

By then Draco was fuming. "She doesn't know anything just let her be." Rayon turned and watched Draco in a strange manner.

"And why on this God forsaken Earth would I do that?" He sounded playful; he must have been enjoying it. Ginny was crying, he could tell as small drops of water hit the ground with a splash. They splattered into smaller drops from falling from so high.

"She really doesn't know how to use it."

"She is the Virginia Molly Weasley, the Goddess Maleyna reincarnate is she not?" he asked slowly.

Draco sighed; her past would never stop haunting her, even if she didn't know how to control it. "Yes b-."

"Very well then, I shall not rest until I get my answer, or rather she shall not rest." He chuckled and once again Ginny screamed. Draco could only imagine what this torture was doing to her, but soon he would know. Maybe it could buy her enough time.

"- But she doesn't know anything, although I do." There he had done it. Both Rayon and Ginny watched him. His look was hungrier than before thinking that he had finally gotten what he was looking for. Her eyes were just saying 'No.' they opened wide before she shut them and turned on the platform of light. It was then that he knew she was crying but did not want him to see. This was not what she had wanted; she did not want him to suffer for her past. The only person that task fell to was Ginny. He walked up to Rayon and did exactly what she knew he'd do, because she knew that he loved her. In a way she knew a lot of things that he never even knew about himself. "Take me instead."

Rayon just shrugged, "Okay." He let his hand fall and Ginny fell with it. Draco only just caught her. She was unconscious but the tear stains still marked her cheeks. He looked up angrily at Rayon. "Are you trying to kill her?"

"Well that was the original plan if I did not get what I wanted. Now that responsibility lies with you, will you tell me or not because I can still kill her if I wanted to."

"I'll tell you what you need to know, but wake her up first."

"Why?" Rayon asked him confused. What a strange question.

"I want to make sure that she's safe before I tell you anything, otherwise what would be in it for me?"

He looked at Draco trying to figure him out. "What is your name boy?" Boy? Who was he trying to kid? He looks younger than Sebastian.

"Malfoy, and why don't you learn some manners before you speak to your elders that way."

The boy's smirk challenged even his own. His eyes narrowed a little as if trying to see him better and he came closer. "Look at me closely; I know you have seen what dwells in my eyes. The absence of light and omnipresence of darkness. Can you honestly tell me - Mr. Malfoy - that you cannot see my beginning? I have seen worlds you would never dream to see, I have seen Earths that have been lived on for millennia, each destroyed by their very inhabitants and still, they do not see sense. I have lived for so many years you would still be guessing until your end, and you would still be wrong. You are not my elder Mr. Malfoy, I have a lot of years on you." By now he was inches from Draco's face and the emptiness in his eyes was drawn out by the tone of his voice, hollow. He smiled a bone-chilling smile. "You are boring me Mr. Malfoy." His arm flicked chalantly toward him and he found himself pinned to the wall. "Tell me what I want to know or else she dies."

"Wake her first." But there was no need she was already awake. When she turned she saw Draco pinned to a wall and Rayon walking toward her.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"You're boyfriend just swapped places with you isn't that sweet?" he said callously.

"W-what?" She looked at Draco; he had that look in his eyes. "You can't do this." She pleaded.

"Why- oh you were talking to him..." He walked off.

She walked over to Draco weakly; he wished more than anything he could help her. "You can't do this Draco I know how the stone works you don't, he'll kill you." She touched his face, catching one of his tears.

"He'll kill you if you don't tell him either." She sighed.

"I'll have to live with that, or die with it as the case may be. But I will not be able to live with myself if you died because of me."

"I wouldn't be able to live if you died. Period." She smiled.

"I know, but you cannot be selfish at a time like this, I came here to free you and I did, the point was for you to go home where it's safe not to come back inside, this is my fight not yours."

Rayon had been listening, so she did know how to use it. "Enough of this, which one of you knows how the stone functions?" He stared at Ginny, already knowing the answer.

Before Draco could speak, Ginny beat him to it. "I do."

"Ginny no-." He struggled to get free.

"Very well." He raised his arm and Ginny was sent back to her place where the energy from the light kept her ready for his outbursts. "How?" he asked impatiently.

"Not until he's gone." She looked at Draco. He looked back; it was all he could do to ask her why? 'Take good care of him for me,' she mouthed.

"Goodbye Mr. Malfoy. It was a pleasure meeting you," he said as Draco was sent flying through the room out onto the passage outside once again. Where her screams penetrated the door.

"Draco leave!" she yelled and all of a sudden he was outside.

"W-what the... oh no, Ginny don't!" He was on the path that led to the castle's entrance. A strident scream echoed throughout the whole castle and every window broke, smashing on the rocks that lay below. He didn't move, even when the shards flew in his direction he didn't move. Not one of them hit him, not one. But a rock did.

He sat up in his bed the beads of sweat falling on his face streaming like the tears in his dream, or for lack of a better name, his nightmare. By instinct he rose out of bed and made his way out to the corridor opening the first on his left. The bed was empty which meant Sebastian was still not home. He looked at his watch, one a.m. Well he was at age, twenty-two was old enough to stay out this late. Heaven knows he stayed out later than that.

He closed the door with a smile. Shaking his head he continued down the corridor, he opened another door and looked at the figure in bed. He smiled again and closed the door preparing to turn back to his bedroom.

He stopped. Something wasn't right. He narrowed his eyes and turned back into the bedroom, this time actually standing next to the bed. He looked at the hair on the pillow. It was darker than usual. He grabbed hold of the duvet and pulled it back angrily knowing what he would see.

Sebastian was asleep and curled up in bed.

He shook him awake. Sebastian groaned sleepily and turned over. "Dad? What do you want?" he yawned.

Draco frowned at him. "Where's your brother?" he said, dropping the duvet on the floor.
