The Daughter of the Snake Pt. II
Ash and Smoke
They reappeared in a large, not to mention lavishly decorated, room.
"Hello, Lucius," said a woman, walking towards him and Serephine, eying the wings on Serephine's back. "I take it this is her."
"Narcissa, you are astoundingly observational," said Lucius, taking off his mask and throwing back his hood over a chair.
He had peroxide blonde hair and his face came to a point, making him look even more arrogant.
"You looked better with the mask on," quipped Serephine.
Lucius merely looked at her, and then turned back to Narcissa. "Where is Draco?"
"In his room," replied the woman.
"Come on, Mistress," he said to Serephine, somewhat sarcastically.
"Do I detect a hint of sarcasm, Luce?" said Serephine, grinning, as she followed him through his manor.
"Would I do such a thing, Mistress?" asked Lucius. "And please refrain from calling me 'Luce',"
"I have the legal right to call you that for the rest of the day, seeing as you called me 'child' all the time. And yes, you would," said Serephine, grinning as they stopped outside a door.
Lucius, without knocking, barged into the room.
"Mistress, please sit down," said Lucius, indicating a chair by an unlit fireplace. Serephine shrugged and sat down in it. "Draco, a word outside. Now."
"Yes, father," said Draco, almost mechanically, following him out of the room, not even glancing at Serephine.
Serephine looked around the room while she waited for them to come back in. To her, it looked like the room of a spoiled little brat, but hey, who was she to judge?
After about a quarter of an hour Draco came back in without his father.
"So, you're the Dark Lord's daughter," he sneered, eying the wings on Serephine's back.
"The Dark Lord?" asked Serephine, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, the Dark Lord," said Draco, looking at her as though she were mad. "Don't you know who he is?"
"Hey, up until a couple of hours ago, I thought I was your average girl. Now I'm a witch, a half-human and daughter of a Dark Lord. Bloody brilliant. I always get stuck with the resident psychopath," said Serephine, glowering at Draco.
"You're only half human?" asked Draco. "Never mind that, I don't want anything to do with you or your father. So go and tell my father and your father that so they can kill me."
"You have a death wish?" asked Serephine, frowning. "Why?"
"Because I'm sick of pretending to be this way. Of being the Slytherin Prince, of being second best to Potter, Granger and Weasly. I don't want any of it," said Draco, struggling not to shout.
"Well that makes two of us," said Serephine, viciously. "I want to go back to my home and stay there for the rest of my days, ok? So don't blow up at me and blame me for my father's actions!"
"You really want nothing to do with him?" asked Draco, in disbelief.
"Swear to God," said Serephine. "So what are you going to do?"
"Me?" asked Draco. "I'm probably going to follow in my father's footsteps unwillingly and get killed during the war by Potter,"
"Who is this Potter guy anyway?" asked Serephine, yawning.
"Harry Potter is the boy that stopped the Dark Lord during his first reign. The Dark Lord went to his house and killed his father and mother but was disembodied when he tried to kill Potter. He stayed that way, being thwarted by Potter in his first and second year of Hogwarts until his forth year where he came back. In Potter's fifth year he tried to get some prophecy and failed, although Potter lost his godfather, Sirius Black."
"My, my, isn't my father the social bomb," said Serephine sarcastically.
"Isn't he just," said Draco. "Come on, we'd better go to Diagon Alley before my father kills me."
"I hope that's a figurative 'kills me,' and not a 'he really will kill me," said Serephine, as they started to walk through the manor.
"Worried about me already?" asked Draco, smirking.
"No, just don't want the only decent person I've met to kick the bucket," said Serephine, smiling at him. "So how're we getting there?"
"By floo," said Draco, leading he to a room filled with desks and cabinets. Draco went over to a desk covered in papers and went to a drawer, taking out some coins. Well, some being an understatement. He piled them into his pockets.
"Try and keep your mouth shut," he said smirking, looking at Serephine's face.
"Meh!" said Serephine.
"Meh?" repeated Draco, raising an eyebrow.
"Meh," said Serephine, nodding.
"Right then," said Draco. "Back to my room, so we can use floo powder."
"What is floo powder anyway?" asked Serephine as they walked.
"A powder you use when you want to travel somewhere. You throw some into the fire, then step into it and say where you're going," said Draco, grabbing a jar off the top of his fireplace. "You go first."
"You realize how much I hate you, don't you?" asked Serephine, growling at him as she took a handful of glittering powder. She threw it into the fire, and when the flames turned green she stepped into them yelling "Diagon Alley!"
She disappeared in a whirl of green flame and smoke.
