- Ah, a note-passing fic! The original version was posted on fanfiction.net. However, I have edited it and now I'm reposting it! I really hope you like it, it was my first fanfic ever... Heehee! Thanks!
James Potter, a seventeen year old boy with unexplainably messy black hair and glasses over his mischievous hazel eyes, sat in his History of Magic class. He was obviously bored. He began the class by tuning out the Professor, who happened to be a dull ghost by the name of Binns. James stared at the back of Lily Evans' head for the longest time, too. She was the object of his affections. James had lost track of the number of times she had rejected him, but he kept at it. Only recently did she begin to talk in a civilized manner with him. This pleased James beyond reason. His friends called him obsessed. He agreed.
Then, James took out some parchment and made a paper airplane. He bewitched in so that it would fly around Professor Binns' head without him noticing. Every few moments, someone would giggle and point to the paper airplane, and James beamed at the attention he was getting because of it.
After the paper airplane had lost its entertainment factor, James took out another piece of parchment, and began passing notes to his friends- Sirius Black, an incredibly rebellious jokester, and Remus Lupin. His other friend, Peter, was missing.
James: Hey.
Remus: Bonjour.
Sirius: Ay-low-hah. I mean, Aloha.
Remus: Haha... where's Wormtail today? He's not in his usual seat.
James: Hospital wing.
Remus: Right.
Sirius: What's up?
James: The sky.
Sirius: Hehe, nice.
Remus: Binns is sooooo boring.
James: No kidding!
Just as James tried to flick the note back over Lily's head to Sirius, she snatched it out of the air. James' heart skipped a beat.
Lily: Hey guys, whatcha writing about?
James: Lily! What a surprise!
Sirius: Ah, love is in the air. *hint hint*
Remus: I agree with Sirius.
James: Shut it.
Lily: So... What's up?
James: The sky.
Sirius: Hehe, nice.
Remus: Uh, am I listening to a recording or something? I have a feeling we've had this conversation before....
Lily: Um? Okay? I'm lost.
James: Er, sorry, Lily... Don't ask.
Lily: I won't.
Sirius: Lalalaaaaaaa. I'm sooo dreadfully bored.
James: Aren't you always? Well, me too.
Remus: Me three. More so than usual. This notepassing is making me anxious.
Lily: Um... Guys?
Sirius: What? Spit it out, Evans.
James: Don't be mean to Lily!
Remus: What is it, Lily?
Lily: Well, I think it's time to go to lunch.
James: The bell rang?
Lily: About ten minutes ago.
Sirius: Oh right. Well it's been absolutely LOVELY chatting with you and all, but... bye!
Sirius threw the parchment on Remus and ran down the hall at light speed. His cry of, "FOOOOOOOD!" could be heard throughout Hogwarts castle.
Remus: That's why it was so quiet...
James: How could we have failed to miss the bell?
Lily was standing, hand on hip, watching the two boys. She shook her head in amazement. "Why, in the name of Merlin, are you still passing notes?"
James blinked.
"Good question," Remus said thoughtfully. He pocketed the notes and the three students exited the classroom.
