Chapter 7: Broken

Ginevra had stayed in her apartment ever since she had run away from Draco, one week ago. She had placed anti-apparation wards all over her apartment so he couldn't go in, had ignored his calls, ignored the owls that came with flowers - Lilies, her favorite ones - and cards, and never opened her door before checking to see who it was.

She couldn't see him anymore. She wouldn't be able to without wondering if he would hurt her again.

She couldn't forget what he had done to her twelve years ago. No matter how hard she could try, she wouldn't be able to. Ginevra could always Obliviate herself to forget, but when she remembered later, the pain would be just as fierce as it had been back then when it had actually happen.

"I know you are home, Ginevra!" a males voice rang outside her door. "I know you are! Please, open the door. Just let me talk to you! That's all I want!"

Ginevra sighed. Draco was back. She should've known. He had been coming everyday, knocking on her door every hour on the hour. But for some reason, she had expected him to just finally give it up and go away. Maybe it was just her wanting him to.

The phone rang. She stood up and walked over to the phone and checked the number since she had placed a charm to show whom ever was calling. It wasn't Caller ID that muggles had now days. It was much simpler. It showed who called from whatever phone number, even from pay phones so that she would know exactly who it was.

She felt silly for even having to check. She knew it was him. He was always calling, even in the middle late hours of the night.

But she had to admit that his persistence was admirable. He wouldn't give up no matter what. Now even though she wanted him to go away, she felt special that he would go through all this trouble just for her.

Suddenly the knocking stopped. She jumped since she had been so used to it, and walked over to the door, checking to see who it was through the hole. Ginevra had expected to see Draco standing there, and she did, but with somebody else.

The landlord.

She sighed and opened the door wide enough for them to enter. The landlord was holding Draco by the collar who was yelling at him to release him at once or he would sue for manhandling.

"Ginevra," the landlord said, ignoring Draco completely. "I will not take this anymore. It has been going on for seven days straight and the other residences are getting angry. They are threatening to leave and if they do I will be angry meaning your boyfriend here will be getting sued -."

"I'LL SUE YOU IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR BLOODY HANDS OFF OF ME THIS INSTANT!" Draco yelled at him and the landlord let go of him. Draco straightened his clothes and glared at the man and muttering hateful words before finally looking up at Ginevra.

"I know you haven't had many boyfriends in the past, Ginevra, but this behavior will not be going on here. I do not want or need to here a lover's spat every day. So please, just talk to the boy quietly and I will not take legal action."

"I'm sorry Mr. Giovarldi," Ginevra said, trying her best to ignore Draco's hard gaze on her. "I promise it won't go on like this anymore. Please, tell my neighbors that I am very sorry about all of this and that I will take care of it."

"Thank you, Ginevra," Mr. Giovarldi said. Then he walked closer to her and whispered in her ear, "And if I am not being too bold as to say that you should keep this one when you have him. If you don't, please Ginevra, just send him up to me."

She blushed and smiled. It was a well-known fact that Mr. Giovarldi was gay but it didn't matter because everybody in the building loved him. He smiled mischievously and then left after checking Draco out from behind.

After the door closed there was silence between the two. Ginevra was looking at the floor, not daring to look into Draco's hardened eyes.

Finally, she looked up after having enough of it. It felt like he was burning holes through her.

"Why are here?" she asked stupidly. She knew damn well what he was doing.

"You never returned my calls," he said menacingly. "Or my letters."

"Malfoy, I -."

"No, don't, Ginny. Do not go back to calling me 'Malfoy' or 'ferret!' My name is Draco and until last week that was what you were calling me, and even kissing me. You know you had me fooled that you loved me like I do."

"I -."

"No. Let me talk. I need to get this off of my chest. Ever since I saw you a few weeks ago I haven't been the same. I haven't been to any bars, I haven't looked at another woman the way I used to, I haven't had any alcohol, and I just haven't been myself. All I can think about is you, and Donna, and us, and how I want us to be a family. Until a week ago I thought we would finally be together. When you ran away, my whole world crashed. I felt like a child again and I was angry at everything. Especially you. But only because I knew I wouldn't be able to tell you that I loved you. So I went to a bar, and I'll admit that I got pissed, but all that did was hurt me more because even then I couldn't stop thinking about you, wondering why you would run away from me. Why, Ginny? Why did you run?"

"I ran...I ran because I didn't want to admit to myself that I...that I fell in love with you as well," she whispered as soft as she could.

Before Ginevra knew it, Draco was only a centimeter away from her and then they were held captive in a passionate kiss, both without a care in the world.

The days past and Donna hadn't spoken to Justin at all. She had seen him, and he had seen her, but neither of them said a word. When they past each other, their eyes would lock, and time seemed to stop. They didn't hear any of the other students crowding them, they didn't see anyone other then the other, but then it all ended. The sounds and people would come back and they'd walk past each other, getting caught up with their friend.

Have you told him yet, Lily asked through a note she past Donna in Potions.

No. I haven't. I've seen him plenty of times, but I've never been able to actually talk to him, Donna wrote back.

Are you sure you don't want me to talk to him for you?

No, its okay. Thanks anyway. But I can handle it.

Well, if you're sure.

I am.

Are you ready to tell him?

I think I am...I just don't know how to say it. I mean, how do you tell a boy that you might be in love with him without it being very awkward?

What? You love him?

I was sure you would've known this, Lil.

Oh, yes, of course. Sorry, I'm not thinking straight today.

Is something wrong?

No, everything is just fine.

You sure?

Yeah. I'm fine.

Okay.

I think Snape is starting to get suspicious. Better get rid of the note, DJ.

Please don't call me that.

Why not? It's adorable.

Its just that Justin used to call me that.

Oh. Sorry.

It's okay. Get rid of the note. Snape's coming.

Lily put the note on her lap and muttered a charm that burned the note with a cold fire that wouldn't burn her and didn't leave ashes.

"What is going on back here," Professor Snape asked when he walked back to where Donna and Lily were sitting next to each other?

"Nothing, Professor," Lily said sweetly. "What are you talking about?"

"Five points for lying, Miss Potans," Snape growled. "Would you care to tell me what really happened Miss Weasley?"

"Lily is right, sir," she said, blocking her mind because everybody knew he could read minds. Her mother had made sure she was always safe so nobody could invade her like she had been invaded at Hogwarts. "Nothing is going on."

She hid her smile when she saw him frown at her. There was no way he would be able to tell if it was a lie or not.

"Very well," he hissed before walking back up to the front of the class. Donna looked over at Lily and behind Snape's back, the grinned at each other and silently slapped hands.

Donna was going to tell him, she figured out. She had to. She had to tell Justin exactly how she felt before she went crazy. It was torture not being with Justin everyday now. She knew she had to tell him.

She was walking down to the Room of Requirement where she went to think. She would go there to come up with what to say to Justin before going to find him. But things don't go as planned, she soon realized.

Donna was about two halls away from the room when she heard giggles. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she walked to where the giggling came from and to her utter shock, there stood a pretty blonde girl pressing a boy up against the wall. But she couldn't seem to see who he was; her hair was in the way.

Then she flipped her hair and Donna almost fell. It was like she couldn't breathe. All the air had been knocked out of her and her chest felt tight.

"Justin?" she whispered. The girl and Justin both looked up at her. She was backing away from the two with her hand above her chest.

"DJ!" Justin yelled, pushing the blonde girl off of him. But it was too late; Donna was already running away. "DJ!!!"

Donna ran to the Gryffindor common room crying. Everybody was staring at her as she ran past him or her. She could hear Justin calling after her and chasing her, but she couldn't look at him right now. Her heart was broken.

How could he? How could he be with another girl when she loved him?

But he didn't love her. That was obvious. He had every right to be with other girls. It wasn't like they were dating or anything. He had every right. Just because Donna was in love with him didn't mean that he had to stay single just for her.

She ran into the common room after saying the password to the Fat lady and ran up to her room, throwing the curtains closed and jumping on the bed, crying into her pillow. Donna heard the curtains opening but she didn't stop.

"Donna," a girl asked? "What happened?" The bed dipped as the girl sat down next to her. "Please, Donna. It's me. It's Lily. Please just talk to me."

"He was with another girl," she moaned. "Justin was with another girl, Lily."

"Oh, Donna," Lily whispered, putting her hand on Donna's back and rubbing in it circles. "I am so sorry. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Could you get me some Aspirin and water," Donna asked. "I'm not really in the mood to use magic. Besides, the pills always work better and longer for me."

"Okay. Is there anything else?" Donna felt her standing up.

"No that's it."

"Are you okay?"

"Just as okay as any girl would be to find the man she loved with another girl."

"I'm sorry."

Then she was gone, leaving Donna alone in her bed, sobbing her eyes out in her pillow.

Donna was still crying when Lily came back in with three Aspirin's and a glass of cold water. She said goodnight before leaving and going back downstairs to the common room.

There was a banging on the door as soon as she got down there. Thinking it was a Gryffindor that had forgotten the password, Lily got up and opened it.

There stood Justin, sweating and gasping for breath.

"What are you doing here?" Lily hissed at her cousin.

Justin barged in past Lily and looked around the common room for Donna. "Where is she," he demanded. "WHERE IS DONNA?"

"She's in her dorm," Lily said and when he went up to the stairs she grabbed his forearm and stopped him. "You can't go up there."

"I NEED TO TALK TO HER, LILLIAN!!! LET GO OF ME!"

"I don't think she wants to talk to you, though. How could you do this, Justin? How could you be with another girl when it is so obvious that you're in love Donna? And you KNOW that she loves you too. How could you do this?"

"It isn't what it looked like, Lily! She was the one on me and she thought that if she kissed me that I would take her out to Hogsmeade this Saturday. I didn't want to because of Donna." He sighed. "I...I love her. I want to be with her but it's just...it's just she's so much younger tha-."

"Oh, please!" Lily laughed. "Like age matters at all! You have no idea how many times I've heard you both saying that and you know what? I am bloody sick of it. You love her and she loves you. You need to talk to her."

"Well than let go of me."

Lily let go and cocked her head to the stairs. "Room 115."

"How am I supposed to get in there? Aren't there layers upon layers of charms to keep guys out?"

"That's just a rumor the professors started to keep boys from getting in there. You have no idea how many times boys have been up ther-. Oops. You didn't just hear that."

He smirked at her than ran up the stairs, threw the door open and ran down the halls, looking for room 115.
