Broken Ever Afters

Prologue

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Ginny. More than anything she wanted to meet Harry Potter. He was her hero. She decided that when she grew up she was going to marry him and they would have five children. Ginny grew up a little and her older brother Ron left for school. He made friends with Harry Potter. Ron said that Harry hadn't known until then that he was a wizard. But that year Harry saved the world from Voldemort again, with help from Ron and their friend Hermione. That summer Ginny couldn't wait for Harry to come stay with her family. But when he did, she was so nervous that she wouldn't talk to him and she ran every time he came near her. That year Harry Potter saved Ginny from Voldemort. After that she wasn't as nervous around him. Then in her 4^th year she got a boyfriend and she decided that maybe she wouldn't marry Harry Potter after all. But one day in her 6^th year, he told her that he liked her back! They started dating and they fell in love. Harry saved the world from Voldemort and Harry and Ginny got married. And then they lived happily ever after. The End.

"That's a good story Mum, but tomorrow night, I want to hear about the year Britain won the World Cup. Lily always gets to pick."

"Ha! You and Lily always get to pick!"

"You're too old for bedtime stories, Sirius."

"Shut up, Ced. Nobody's ever to old for Mum's bedtime stories."

The tall red haired woman patted her third son on the head, "Thank you for your confidence, Remus."

"I am to old to be patted on the head."

"No kidding, you're what? 13, now?"

"James, leave your brother alone."

"You know, I am trying to study here!"

"That's all you ever do anymore, James."

"Lily, there's these tests- you may have heard of them- called the NEWTs."

"Shut up James. I've heard of the newts."

"NEWTs!"

"Newts!"

"NEWTs!"

"Newts!"

"Newts!"

"James! Lily! That's enough!"

"Sorry, Mum."

"James started it."

"I don't care who started it. I just want to know who's going to let it go!"

"Hey, Mum? Do you think Cass could come over for the day on Saturday?"

"I don't see why not, Sirius. I'll owl her mum."

"I see why not. They'll spend all day snogging."

"Shut up, Ced."

"Remus, Cedric, Lily, its past your bedtime."

"Mum, I'm 13! Why can't I stay up like Sirius and James?"

"Because Sirius and James are 16 and 17."

"I hate going to bed with the babies."

"I'm not a baby! I'm 10! I'm going to Hogwarts next year!"

"Wow, Lily! 10! That's really old."

"Sirius, leave Lily alone. Remus, you know the rules. When you turn 15 you can stay up."

"Night, Mum. I'm going to go study somewhere quiet."

"Goodnight, James."

"Night all."

"Oh, Sirius, your father wants to talk to you in his study."

"Now what?"

"Something about a letter from Aunt Hermione. Are you getting in trouble at Hogwarts?"

"Uh oh."

"Why did she write, anyway? We'll see her on Sunday at Gran and Granddad's."

"I know, but Hermione likes to try to keep her work life and her family life separate."

"Jeez, Sirius. At this rate you'll never get to be Head Boy next year."

"Like I care, James. You're the good boy."

"Not likely."

"Good point, ickle Ced'll be Head Boy some day."

"Talk about goody-goodies."

"James! Sirius! Leave Ced alone."

"I'm getting out of here."

"Ugh. I should go talk to Dad."

"Mum? Can we have another story?"

"It's late, Cedric, darling."

"Ooh, does ickle Cedric want another bedtime story?"

"Is he scared of monsters?"

"James, Sirius, go."

"Right, Mum."

"Ginny!"

"Harry?"

"Get the kids to the Burrow. Quick!"

"Harry, what is going on?"

"It's not safe. I just got a message. Minister Macmillan is dead and Cho Chang and Padma Patil are critical."

"But what's going on?"

"Nott, Macnair, Mulciber, Dolohov, the Lestrange brothers and Narcissa Malfoy broke out of Azkaban while being brought for trial."

"Oh, hell!"

"Uh, Mum? Did you just swear?"

"Remus. Not now."

"Harry, I'll stay with you. I've got the training."

"No, Gin. You need to get the kids to safety."

"Harry."

"Now, Gin!"

Boom!

"Ginny, Go!"

"Oh my god. They're here."

"Of course they're here. I'm the bloody Boy-Who-Lived!"

"Damn it, Harry!"

"Gin, not now!"

"I love you."

"I'll be along in a few minutes. Don't worry. Now go!"

"Sirius, help Ced. Remus and Lily, follow James."

"The Burrow!"

"I love you, Gin. Go!"

"Harry."

"Go!"

"The Burrow!"

Boom!

"Harry Potter! Come out and play!"

"Oh, I'm coming, Lady Malfoy."

"Ginny, darling. Thank Merlin, you're here"

"Mum, they're at the house!"

"Ginny, darling. Harry can take care of himself. The Order is on its way. Now let's get these children something to drink and bed."

"Ron!"

"It's nothing, Mum, just a scrape. Is Ginny here? I need to talk to her."

"I should look at that, Ron. It's bleeding."

"Mum! Not now. I need to talk to Ginny!"

"Ron!"

"Oh, god, 'Mione!"

"Ron, you're hurt!"

"'Mione, not now. I need to talk to Ginny."

"What is it Ron?"

"Ginny, I'm sorry. We weren't ready. Mulciber and Macnair and Dolohov attacked from behind, while Narcissa Malfoy, Nott and Rodolphus and Rastaban Lestrange distracted us."

"Ron. Where's Harry?"

"I'm sorry, Ginny. Narcissa hit him from behind. He didn't stand a chance."

"Ron. Where's Harry?"

"Ginny, he's dead."
