To Emily.

Author's notes: I dedicate this chapter to my twin sister Emily. You dreamed weird dreams and I turned them into this story.

Disclaimer: Not mine... yet! I plan to marry JK's son (who inconveniently has not been born yet) and inherit the ownership.

Summary: James notices something about Sirius. And it isn't that he likes his Milo cold with a pink umbrella and a pinch of sea salt.

Introduction: Okay. So, James has decided to take Sirius, Lily and Remus on a vacation to London during the summer holidays before they would start their seventh year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Completely forgetting that Lily and Sirius already lived there, and Remus and he didn't live far away. Lily knows the most about the muggle world and decides to take charge. Sirius and James know nothing about muggle England and escaped Lily and Remus' grasps to go for a walk....

***********************

James Potter had seen some very strange things in his day. He had seen people walk on all fours, glue sniffers, children eating mud, people who stole teeth, robbers who made it really obvious who they were, kites in the shape of a rock and many other weird and wacky occurrences - being a wizard, this was common enough. But none could compare to what he was seeing before him on one sunny Sunday morning.

Sirius Black, James' best friend since he was born, was sitting cross-legged on the foot path with his head neatly resting on his fist. Sirius had his gaze firmly planted on a speed bump, located on a quiet street in London.

"Hello, Sirius?" James asked, waving his hand up and down in front of his good mate, hoping that he could be distracted from his odd trance.

No such luck; James sat down beside him on the foot path and proceeded in asking a few questions.

"Have you done anything...odd lately? Apart from the usual, I mean," he asked Sirius gently, receiving no response.

"Is there anything you need to tell me?" he asked, hoping for an answer this time.

"Did you hit your head making a cubby house again?" James asked, thinking about the 'third time lucky' rule.

Sirius just sat very still with a look of utter confusion on his face. James realised he wouldn't be able to find an answer from the lifeless human. He racked his brains for anything unusual that had happened lately...

FLASHBACK

It was around lunchtime they day before they would leave for their holiday and the Marauders, excluding Peter who was off on some cruise with his family, were sitting around in James' large backyard. They were in the middle of a deadly and awkward silence when Sirius came up with one of his mischievous ideas.

"I have an idea!" he yelled, jumping up from his seat.

Remus and James gave him uninterested looks and stared off into the clouds that were looming in the distance. Naturally, that didn't stop Sirius and he was up and about collecting long sticks from the lawn.

"What are you going to do Sirius? Make a cubby house and christen it "The House of All that is Marauder"?" said James sarcastically.

Sirius stopped dead in his tracks. That was exactly what he was going to do. He gave them a serious nod, turned over a stone to see if anything was hiding under it, and continued to haul large pieces of rock and bark over to a nearby elm tree.

"Well, I don't think we saw that coming," Remus said quietly to James.

He was about to say something smart, witty, and anything stupid that he felt was necessary, when they herd a faint "clunk" coming from where Sirius was working. Remus and James turned quickly to see the clown of the group fall to the ground in a spread-eagle pose. They ran over to see if Sirius was alright - well, unharmed. Sirius had never been alright in the first place.

"Dude!" exclaimed a nearby mushroom.

"What the...?"

END OF FLASHBACK

No, thought James bitterly, that probably isn't the reason. James soon gave up on thinking of a sensible reason and stood up and went to go find the two people who would figure out what was happening. Lily "Soon to be Potter" Evans and Remus Lupin.
