Author's Note:
I dedicate this chapter to that Mohawk kid. And the 5th floor girls.

Day 1:

'Bye Mom!' Ginny and Hermione yelled at the same time. Their parents wouldn't leave. For some reason, Ginny's and Hermione's parents had a hard time leaving their daughters for a week. It was only two hours away from home, too!

Before we go any further into this story, many of the Hogwarts students are at UW-Madison College in Wisconsin for band camp (No, not that kind. Get your mind out of the gutter!). Camp is a week long, and you get sorted into bands, orchestras, or choirs based on your ability and if you play a band instrument, string instrument, or sing.

Back to the story.

The girls' parents finally left, and the two girls jumped around and screeched one of those girly screeches. Just as they were happy, someone jumped out of Hermione's closet.

'BOO!' yelled Melissa, Hermione's little sister. Then she ran to catch up with the parents.

'That was odd...' Ginny trailed off.

'Well we should unpack,' Hermione suggested. (Hermione has been to camp before, and this is Ginny's first year.)

The girls put their sodas and waters in the mini-fridge, the chips on the desks, hung their dresses (for final performances) and towels in the closets, put their extra pillows and blankets on their beds, and stashed their suitcases on the closet floor. I almost forgot! Ginny put a few sodas in the small section of the fridge that is supposed to be a freezer (That is very important).

There was a floor meeting at 4:30, so the girls headed for the lounge. Once everyone was seated on the assorted couches and chairs, the meeting began.

'In case you haven't seen our name tags, we are your counselors Carrie, Amanda, and Alyssa. We aren't explaining the rules this year because there is an all-camp meeting at the concert hall in ten minutes. Before we leave, we're going to teach you a song to sing at the meeting.'

The song went as such:

'We sing

We play Mahler with the best of them

Bach with the worst of them

Brahms with the rest of them

We like great big

*clap*

Hairy chesty men

We are the fifth floor girls'

All of the campers and their counselors headed down the stairs, outside, across the street, up more stairs, over the bridge, inside another building, down some stairs, through the double doors and into the concert hall.

'Before we start, the fifth floor girls have a song to sing,' announced counselor Alyssa.

So the girls sang:

'We sing

We play Mahler with the best of them

Bach with the worst of them

Brahms the with the rest of them

We like great big

*clap*

Hairy chesty men

FIFTH FLOOR'S FULL OF PREPS!'

'Ginny, Hermione, and Hermione's friend Cassie all screamed the last line. The whole auditorium burst out laughing. A guy behind them screamed, 'Preps and retards! Yeah!'

There were two counselors on the stage. One was Dan and the other was Sarah. They were there to explain the rules. Dan started.

'The most important rule is something I'll have to explain in a language you'll understand. Let's pretend that the girls' tower is the red tower, and the boys' tower is the blue tower. THERE WILL BE NO PURPLE TOWER!'

The whole place shook with laughter. Hermione yelled, 'What is this? Barney or band camp?'

'After that nice bit of comedy...There are other rules we must go over. Everyone will get a card later tonight from their counselors. This allows you to go to State Street. At 4:30 and 5:15, there is a group that goes to State Street. You walk there with some counselors. When you get to the clock tower, give your card to one of the counselors. You can go back to the clock tower at 5:30 or 6 to go back to campus. Get your card back from the counselor with the card box before you come back. Your card can get taken away so you can't go the next day. This can happen if you do anything you're not supposed to in stores, or if you go off State Street. You can go up to Noodle's. That's all about that. Dan?' Sarah ranted.

The two counselors basically just explained other simple rules...Nothing we need to go over here because only the purple thing and the State Street thing are important. Very important.

Everyone went back to their floors. Ginny wanted Hermione to show her around. Hermione did so. They walked around the campus. There were so many preppy people.

The girls decided to go to supper, so they headed for the cafeteria. Instead of getting in line, Hermione ran to someone.

'Seamus!' she screamed.

'Kimmy!' he screamed back.

Ginny joined them. 'Kimmy?' she asked with a confused look on her face.

'Oh, it's just the nickname Seamus gave me when we met two years ago,' explained Hermione.

A girl sitting at their table eyed Hermione's many rubber bracelets.

'Seamus, this is Ginny,' Hermione said.

'If you're Kimmy's friend, you must be cool,' joked Seamus.

Ginny, Seamus, Hermione, the girl who looked at Hermione's bracelets, and her twin all got up and went into the main building. Ginny and Hermione headed to their room.

'It's time to see what band we're in,' announced Ginny.

Before I explain the process of finding out which band these two girls are in, I must explain how they determine this. Ginny plays the flute, and she had an audition earlier that day. Hermione thought it went well, but Ginny thought otherwise. Hermione plays the trumpet (and flute, piano, alto saxophone, and recorder), and she had an audition earlier that day. Ginny thought it went well, but Hermione thought otherwise. After everyone has auditioned, the 'evaluators' sit and put the best people in the 'Honors Band.' The rest are divided evenly into two other bands.

Hermione dropped Ginny off at the main lounge on her way to the cafeteria basement. She went down the stairs and into the room.

'What's your name?' asked some 'evaluator' dude at the front of the room.

'Fred Weasley,' replied Hermione jokingly.

'Clever,' retorted the dude.

Hermione sat down. Every few moments, some kids filed through the doors and say down. After a while, Seamus walked in. He sat down next to Hermione. Then a kid with a Mohawk sat in front of him.

'Dude, I love your Mohawk,' Hermione stated.

'Uh...Thanks,' replied the Mohawk dude questionably.

'Can I touch it?' asked Seamus.

'Sure,' said the dude, sounding annoyed.

Seamus felt the top of the Mohawk.

'Sweet,' said Seamus.

The 'evaluator' dude stood up.

'If you're in here and you don't play the trumpet, you're not supposed to be in here.'

Apparently, trumpet players are smart because no one was in the wrong room.

'We'll start with the Indiana Band, which is the Honors Band.'

The 'evaluator' guy read off a list of names. Neither Seamus nor Hermione was on the list.

'Next is the Wisconsin Band. The first two are Hermione Granger and Seamus Frye.'

'That was so close!' exclaimed Hermione.

Hermione's stand partner was some short, preppy dude.

'You take the music. I'll probably forget it,' Hermione explained.

'Okay,' replied Seamus Frye.

Hermione said goodbye to Seamus Finnigan and headed off to get Ginny.

Ginny wasn't in the lounge, so Hermione went up to the room. Ginny was there.

'What band are you in?' Ginny anxiously asked.

'Wisconsin,' replied Hermione.

'Me too! I'm the second first flute,' said Ginny.

'No way! I'm the second first trumpet!' answered Hermione. (Second first means they play first part, but are second on the list.)

Ginny looked through her music folder.

'Oh, we're playing Chorale and Cannon!' Ginny said.

'Are you serious? Sweet!' replied Hermione (Chorale and Cannon was a song that Ginny and Hermione played at their school. Hermione loves that song.).

'Are we going to go anywhere else tonight?' asked Hermione.

'Probably not,' answered Ginny.

'I'll sign us in,' said Hermione.

'Okay. Cool,' replied Ginny.

Hermione went out of the room, down the hall, past the bathrooms and stopped at the elevators. There was a sign-in/sign-out sheet there. Hermione initialed 'GW' and 'HG' in the Sunday slot in the room 561 slot. She went back to the room to get some stuff to take a shower. She lucked out and got the good shower with the spot that doesn't get wet. No soaked pajamas!

After her shower, Hermione went back to the room. Ginny was already lying in bed and reading a book. Ginny reads a lot. Hermione got into her bed just as a counselor knocked at the door. Ginny answered it. The counselors were checking if everyone was in their rooms, and then telling them when to go to sleep. It was 10:00. Hermione got up to turn off their lights as Ginny put her book on her desk. Hermione turned off the lights and tried to maker her way to her bed. She tripped over the garbage can. Hermione made it to her bed, put on her CD player with Linkin Park's 'Meteora' and fell asleep.
