Harry Potter and the Defeat of the Dark Lord

Prologue:

The Boy Who Lived is Born

With not only James, her loyal husband, but also the three other co-producers of the Marauder's Map by her side, Lily Evans, was for the first time, with a lot difficulty at that since she refused any kind magical help alleviate the pain related to the process, accomplishing G-d's ultimate mission.

After just a few pushes and screams of excruciating pain that accompanied them, it was declared that a boy, Harry James Potter, was born. He was named Harry in memory of Lily's father, Harrison, who had recently left this bizarre world for a better place and James was, appropriately enough, his middle name because he was an exact spitting image of his father, except for his mother's emerald green eyes.

Lily, with tears in her eyes and slightly dizzy from this painful, yet unforgettable, experience, could not believe it; she could not come to terms with the fact that she had become a mother such a short time after graduating, at the top of her class, from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Most unbelievable of all was the fact that neither she nor James was yet legally allowed to drink alcohol in Great Britain.

Among the other guests of honor and V.I.P's that attended this special event (Lily and James, for the last two months or so, had been arguing almost incessantly about who should be invited) were Professors Minerva McGonagall, Filius Flitwick and Horace Slughorn, James and Lily's Transfiguration, Charms and Potions teachers at Hogwarts, respectively. Severus Snape and Bill Weasley, the former being a schoolmate of the parents-to-be as well as Lily's ex-boyfriend and the latter being a current Chaser for the Gryfffindor House Quiddich team were also invited. Also attending were Professor Dumbledore, current Headmaster of Hogwarts; Lily's mother, Mary, as well as Elizabeth Stonewind, Lily's best friend from Muggle elementary school, second cousin as well as neighbor.

Oddly enough, Elizabeth, or Betsy, as friends and family sometimes called her, was also expecting a child of her own sometime by the end of August or early September 1980, and rumor had it that it was a girl.

Now that Harry was born, all Lily wanted to do was move out of her parents' house, fly with her own wings and realize her ambition of 6 years, that of becoming an Auror in order to uphold Hogwats's reputation of being the safest place on earth ( except for maybe Gringotts , the Wizarding Bank ) as well as protect the wizarding world from both internal and external threats. James, on the other hand, wanted to just move his new family to Godric's Hollow, a mansion that both he and his best friend had inherited when James's parents passed away and do for a living what he knew best (and always wanted), play either Seeker or Chaser on a professional Quidditch team.

Little did the lovebirds Lily and James suspect that fate would have something completely different in store for them as well as their son. On this hot and humid evening of 31st of July 1980, Cardiff General Hospital had just witnessed, without realizing it just yet, the birth of a wizard who would one beautiful day, almost 18 years later, revolutionize wizardry, as well as wizarding history, forever.

If anyone had told her that she would be dead in a little less than a year and a half she wouldn't have believed it; she would have referred such a person straight to St. mungo's, the wizarding mental hospital. She also wouldn't have believed it if she was told that t her death would be the final reason for Horace Slughorn to retire. Nor did she know that Severus Snape, would take up his post and torment her son when he would go to Hogwarts.

As she remembered sitting in Slughorn's office, being part of the Slug Club, she wasn't aware that Voldemort, who was slowly gaining more and more power, would slowly take away everyone who was important to her: Benjy, Dorcas, Elizabeth (her Muggle friends); he would take them all away, and in the end, he would take James and then Lily herself.
