- Author's Note:
- Ok, this is my first fic. Also, the title is also a title of a country song, but I don’t know the name of the singer. I’ll probably take a while to finish this, as I tend to hit blocks a lot. I’ll be looking forward to encouragement, but some constructive criticism would be much appreciated. This takes place during the Trio’s sixth year.
Prologue
Kodac, a teenager renown for his fencing and wizarding abilities, as well as his countless victories against evil, looked about, hand straying to his sword hilt. His keen eyes looked about; he felt something was queer in this place. Shadows chased each other. His ears heard nothing, save the slow drip-drip of the river overhead. Raising his torch, he squinted into the darkness.
"It’s quiet…..far too quiet," Kodac thought. Proceeding deeper into the cave, he ignored the bats that took wing above his head.
A small light shone in the darkness. He approached cautiously, as training and experience has taught him. The light grew steadily, until the torch was not needed.
The light darkened. Kodac could still see, but it dimmed as if under a shadow. Gripping his sword-hilt, he stepped forward. A shadow took form in front of him, wielding the shape of a blade of equal stature to his own. Kodac drew forth his Elfish, blue-shining, extra-potent-against-evil-creatures sword, which he had aptly named Alassor.
Minutes flew by, as the shadow fenced with Kodac. Once or twice, the shadow would nick his mythril coat, which he wore underneath his loose cotton shirt. As he parried and lunged, only to parry again, Kodac thought the light began to swirle in color. Not paying as much attention as he should, Kodac was sent flying back by a kick from the shadow.
Kodac landed painfully, but he found his sword was sheathed and he couldn’t move anything but his head. As he looked around, the swirl of colors turned black, and images raced by. One stopped and came into focus. Kodac felt him self plunged headlong into it and knew no more.
"Congratulations, Harry. Nice win," Hermione shouted over the noise of the crowd.
"Thanks, ‘Mione," Harry replied. Looking around the Gryffindor common room, occasionally listening to the Creevy brothers’ jokes (as they were as rambunctious as the Weasley brothers, and as good Beaters, as well) Harry thought that, all in all, the match went rather well. Better than usual, since Slytherin were unable to pull any tricks under Madam Hooch’s careful eyes.
"I dunno, ‘Mione. Something’s wrong, but I don’t know what," Harry whispered.
Sorry to cut this short, but I felt that this would be a good spot to stop and write the next chapter. Next Chapter: Kodac sees Hogwarts, Dumbledore meets him, and the students all go to their classes. Dumbledore even makes a joke. :P Kodac learns where he is, and wonders how he got there.
