Heroes

    Have you ever met a hero? No? Well I have. I knew loads of them. My best friend was a hero. My parents were heroes. My godfather was a hero. My girlfriend was a hero, and that's only a start.

    Have you ever seen death? Maybe? Well I have. I first saw death when I was one year old. I've seen so much death throughout my life, It's becoming unbearable. So many died, I only wish I'd gone in their place.

    There are to many names I recognize in this graveyard. To many graves, to few memories. Notes, letters, and maybe a photo are all I have left of so many people, too many people.

    Have you ever met Hermione Granger? Doubt it? Well I have. She was a brilliant witch, often referred to as the brightest of her age. She was an amazing friend and a great listener. Hermione was a hero.

    Have you ever met James and Lily Potter? You don't think so? Well I have. Lily was a kind and gentle witch, James was a trouble maker but very loving. James and Lily were heroes.

    Have you ever met Sirius Black? You never wanted to? Well I have. He spent twelve years in Azkaban for something he didn't do and escaped only to die less than three years later. He was kind, loving and like a father to me. Sirius was a hero.

    Have you ever met Ginny Weasley? Possibly? Well I have. I loved her with all my heart. She was so strong-willed and determined, so passionate and caring, all I could do was love her. Ginny was a hero.

    Have you ever met Draco Malfoy? Unfortunately? Well I have. He was a jerk. He was foul, he was mean, he was an asshole. But he was on our side, and he fought until the end. Draco was a hero.

    Have you ever met me? You wish? Well you shouldn't. I can never be a hero. I can never be enough to meet any standards. I'm a Gryffindor. My friends were heroes, and that's good enough for me.

    My name is Harry Potter. Hermione was my best friend. James and Lily were my parents. Sirius was my godfather. Ginny was my girlfriend. Draco was my best enemy. They died for me. They died for each other. They died for the world. They were heroes.

    So why is it people call me a hero? So I can tell them tales of war? So I can tell them about the people who died for me while I finished the war unscathed? Yes? To bad. The real heroes lie six feet under. I am not a hero.
