Chapter Seven: Journal Entry #3

"Dear Diary, today I saw this boy..."

Dear Journal,

I know this is only my third entry, but Hogwarts has been keeping me busy. Today after lunch we are having a snow fight with the Gryffindors. I say we, as in some Ravenclaws that are joining me. They are really cool, even though I've only met them once. As a Hufflepuff, I hardly talk to anyone outside my house, but my lab partner from Ravenclaw, Velma, asked if I could help. She's really nice, most of the time. Her hair is really short, and she can get really crabby, especially if you don't understand things right away. She introduced me to some of her friends at breakfast, and pointed out the Gryffindors right after. First it was Sophie, she's really nice, if a bit obsessed. She's got this fascination with Oliver Wood, the new Gryffindor Keeper. Bit funny if you ask me. Then she introduced me to Mandy. She's really tall, and she's got a big mole on her forehead, but that's ok! From what I hear she's a good student. After that I met Trinity. She's a cute kid. By kid I mean that she's really short and tiny. I'm so jealous of her weight! From what I hear she's in love with Muggle Studies, a pure bred wizard in love with Muggle Studies. Not unheard of, but... Anyways, from what I've seen, Trinity and Mandy continuously debate about stuff... go figure!

After meeting the most of the "team" I was on- Oh wait! I forgot! There is this guy on our team, though I didn't see him there. I guess his name is Legolas, and from what Velma's told me, he's supposedly unattached. She sounded so surprised, like 'How does such a nice guy NOT have a girlfriend?' Hmm. Well anyways, she didn't say what house he was in, but I guess he is this 'Velia's' brother. To continue, after meeting the team I was on, Velma turned me around to see the 'Enemy'. They seemed like a happy bunch, three guys and three girls. One girl was really tall; she had white blonde hair... that was Velia. She seemed to take lead, which I guess was ok. When she turned around I saw she had this really pointy nose...look at this. Mum would kill me if she saw what a style guru I am being... well anyways... Velma tells me that Velia is an ok student. Ok, as in average. Then there was the second girl. She had tons of freckles and dark brown hair. That, I guess, was Molly. She's supposed to be a sympathetic activist, making sure everyone is being fair. I can believe that, I saw it in her eyes. The last girl can only be Luella. She's a tall brunette, has really pretty hair, but Velma says over the past few months she's had a bit of a zit problem in one area: her chin. Her nose is really round, almost cherub-like. Now for the guys. One of the guys, Dan, is really tall and really cute. His voice is truly deep, I heard him laughing and talking as I was walking back to the Hufflepuff table. His face is really clean, and his eyes are kinda squinty, but compliment his face perfectly. I would lust after him, but from what I hear, he's taken by Velia. Owen, another guy-oops, I must go, or I'll be late for Transfiguration!

As Oliver left Potions that morning, he did a little dance. Behind him the red-haired Weasley twins, Fred and George, snickered.

"Luella finally say yes to you asking her out?" George raised an eyebrow.

"We'll send her an engagement gift... how about a bludger?" Fred laughed.

"That's not it at all you guys. I'm just happy that it's a free Friday afternoon, and I'll be able to spend it-"

"Lemme guess... snogging?" Fred smirked. "I'm sure I would love that too! Maybe Angelina..."

"Fred!" A black girl behind them squealed. "Snog you? Ew!"

"Aw, com' on Angel!" Fred pouted, and began chasing after the running girl. George just sighed and continued walking towards the stairs to the seventh floor.

"Kids these days..."

Oliver laughed. Quidditch, friends, magic... life couldn't possibly get any better than this. Suddenly, someone bumped into him from behind.

"Oomph! Oh, I'm sorry Oliver! Here, let me help you!" It was Percy. His books had spilled all over the floor, his scarlet ink drenching his books.

"No, no Percy, its quite all right! Here, let me help you!"

"I was rushing to get to...er, hello Velma!" Oliver looked up. Standing above them was Velma, the Ravenclaw he had met on the train first year. Looking between Percy and her, Oliver almost laughed aloud. Percy was extremely red in the face, and a smudge of ink had wound up on his nose. His blazing red hair was chaotic, and his eyes were scared. Velma, on the other hand, was as calm as Keeper who was on the opposite side of the field of the Quaffle. Her dark skin complemented her bright green eyes. Her mouth was tugged up into a smirk, and her short hair was combed and shining.

"Here, let me help."

"No, I got it-"

"I can help you-Ouch!" the two had clunked heads, and were now staring at each other. Oliver found his moment to slip away. It wasn't that he didn't like Percy; its just he never bonded with his fellow fourth year, there was a wall between them; a wall that wouldn't soon come down.

Oliver began climbing the stairs to the seventh floor, towards Gryffindor Tower. On the way he passed George Weasley and Lee Jordan, who were chatting something about white ferrets. Shaking his head, Lee began in quiet whispers.

"That... George... wands!" Oliver caught. Continuing up, the Keeper saw Katie Bell and Alicia Spinnet, also second years, discussing the last Quidditch match, Hufflepuff versus Slytherin. In an amazing feat, Hufflepuff had slaughtered Slytherin 190 to 10.

Finally the Fat Lady came into view. A portrait of an obese woman in a pink silk gown, also the portal into Gryffindor's common room, suddenly moved and spoke.

"Password?" She muttered, pulling back a strand of hair out of her face.

"Tiger Bar-." Oliver began to say the password when the portrait door swung open, hitting him in the nose. "Oi!" He cried, dropping his books and grabbing his nose in pain.

"Oh, Oliver! Curses, I'm so, so sorry! How many times has that been mate?" Owen walked out of Gryffindor's common room, wincing.

"Um, I don't think I could count on my fingers!" Oliver moaned.

Aha! A step further in developing the characters! In case you didn't know, Kari is "Anders, Kari" from earlier in the story. The next chapter- Ice, Ice and more Ice! Beautiful snow wars between the two houses! (Three, if you count Hufflepuff!) More about 'him', finally! A little romance between Percy and Velma? Hmmm. Thanks for the reviews!
