Chapter Four- A Day in Hogsmeade

Draco rolled over in his bed wishing that time would turn back so he could get some more sleep. Lately, sleep was a problem and Draco just now seemed to care. It was Saturday and he could've easily gone back to bed but he was going to Hogsmeade with Laura and Jessica. The two kept bugging him after dinner last night to come with although he'd already said yes. He was looking forward to it, but he didn't really want to see Laura's dress yet. Since he was her surprise, Draco wanted her dress to be a surprise. Grumbling quietly, Draco sat up and located his robe then headed off for a shower. The water instantly woke him up as he washed quickly in order not to be late.

Even before he reached the Great Hall for breakfast, Jessica ran straight to him as if she needed something.

"Draco! Draco! I need your help!" Jessica panted as she reached him.

"What do you need my help for?" Draco wondered with a slight yawn. Jessica went into an explanation of how Dean asked her to the ball and then Orlando asked her in the library previous to dinner.

"So what's the problem?"

"I told Dean I'd go, but I also told Orlando I'd go."

"So what am I supposed to do about it?" Draco raised an eyebrow.

"Go stop the fight around the corner, Orlando is cursing Dean pretty bad."

"Why?"

"Well I told Dean this morning I was going with Orlando and that I was sorry, and you know that Orlando really doesn't like Dean at all so he decided to rub it in his face and well..." Jessica sighed.

"Wow Jessica you're such a desirable woman!" Draco joked as she hit him on the shoulder.

"Listen here young man...Shut up."

"Yeah ok mom," Draco laughed harder as he proceeded around the corner and found that Wonder Boy and Granger had already stopped the fight. Draco scowled at Potter before turning back to Jessica.

"So I was really needed huh?" he smirked.

"Sorry, I didn't think Harry would've been down here by now." Jessica said quietly. "So we are still going to Hogsmeade together today?"

"I thought I made it clear to you and Laura that I was yesterday!" Draco threw his hands up in the air.

"I know, I'm just messing with you! Chill out man!" Jessica laughed. "Laura said we're meeting at the top of the stairs, see you there!"

Draco waved and walked off to his house table wondering how he was going to get away from dress shopping. As much fun as that might've sounded if he was gay, he had more important things to do. He wasn't insulting Laura or Jessica but he really didn't like sitting in a chair while the two of them went through every rack and tried on every dress in their size.

Throwing down his fork Draco looked up to find Laura and Jessica heading to the doors of the Great Hall. Abandoning his eggs, he followed and met up with them at the top of the stairs.

"Ready?" Laura smiled at him as he nodded. The three walked down the stairs, out the doors and into the snow towards Hogsmeade. Along the way Jessica tried tirelessly to explain the muggle game of Baseball (Since she was from America, like Laura). Draco was so confused he felt like his brain was about to explode. As soon as they reached the village, immediately Laura and Jessica grabbed Draco's hands and pulled him into the dress shop.

"Actually I need to go take care of some stuff, I'll meet you guys back here for lunch." Draco smiled and walked out the door before the girls could protest. He walked down the street and walked into the flower shop. A witch with wispy gray hair and a smile to big for her tiny face greeted him as he entered. He wandered around for quite sometime, not realizing that there were so many flowers to choose from.

"Excuse me sir, but you look confused. May I be of any assistance?" the witch asked. Draco told her about why he needed a flower and if there was a certain kind he should get. Then the witch asked him for the story on why he was doing this, in order to help him. Draco told her the story hesitantly and asked how it would help him find a single flower.

"Ah you see my dear, there is more to flowers than you think."

"What exactly do you mean?" Draco asked in utter confusion.

"Every flower has a meaning, and for you we need a flower of grace, beauty and love."

Draco had gotten lost in what this woman was saying, how did he not know that flowers had meanings? He never learned that in Herbology class. The witch was pursing her lips hard together as she began to think of what Draco would need.

"Oh I know!" she laughed and beckoned for Draco to follow her. Draco kept close on her heels as she bustled towards the back of her shop. She carefully picked up a rose, a single red rose. Draco took it out of her hand and examined it.

"Is this it?"

"Is that it? Oh my dear boy, you have much to learn about flowers." The witch laughed. "This is an enchanted rose, it will live for as long as you love this girl."

"I'll take it." Draco said and followed her to the cash register. As soon as he paid for the flower, he immediately went to the post office to owl it back to his dormitory. He could take no chances getting caught now.

The wind had picked up when Draco stepped outside. The sun had come out from behind the clouds and it seemed even more students were swarming in the village. Draco walked down to the dress shop to find Laura and Jessica because he was sure they'd still be there. Sure enough as soon as he walked in, Jessica was leaning against the wall next to the dressing rooms. Draco laughed as she began tapping her foot and growing impatient.

"She's still in there huh?" Draco laughed.

"Yes, she can't figure out which one of the fifty she's tried on looks best," Jessica said as she rolled her eyes. Draco shook his head and leaned on the wall next to her.

"Draco is that you?" Laura called from beyond the door.

"Yes, you haven't found one yet?"

"Well actually can you help me pick one?"

"Let me see the one you have on first," Draco said through the door. The knob turned on the door and the occupant hesitantly stepped out of the dressing room. Draco felt his jaw drop as he saw Laura standing there. She had on a strapless scarlet dress that flowed gracefully down to the floor, the satin hugged every one of her curves perfectly and a small train was attached to the back. Draco had to blink a few times to realize that this wasn't a dream.

"Ok, dress number 51 looks great too, can we go now?" Jessica said loudly as she started towards the door.

"Is this one ok?" Laura asked Draco quietly.

"It's gorgeous, I don't think anyone else would look better in it." Draco smiled and waited as Laura smiled and went back into the dressing room to change. Soon she came out and paid for the dress. Jessica was sitting outside the shop half awake, clutching her bag that contained her own outfit for the ball.

"Finally woman! Can we go eat now? I'm starving!" Jessica stood as they finally exited.

"Yea, let's go," Laura laughed and walked with Draco and Jessica in search of food.
