Chapter three- a week later, a week till the Ball and A Hogsmeade weekend.
It was now getting into the early hours of the Friday morning as Draco was writing the long letter for Laura and in it he was asking her to the ball. It turned out that he had so much to say and ended up making a three-page letter and at the end, asked her to meet him at the ball. He sealed it and was getting ready to attach the letter to majesty, his owl, when a head in his fireplace stopped him. Laura's face was sitting in the fire with a sleepy look on her face. Draco quickly hid the letter behind his back and kneeled in front of the fire.
"Laura what are you doing?"
"I was about to ask you the same thing," Laura smiled. "What are you still doing up?"
"Homework, Why are you in my fireplace?" Draco asked. Laura laughed and said she wanted him to help her find a dress for the ball at Hogsmeade that weekend. He nodded and said he'd only go if he could take her out to lunch in celebration. Laura smiled and said that was fine, then said good night and popped out of the fireplace. Draco let out a huge breath of relief as the flames returned to their normal state. He looked down at the letter in his hand and held it to his heart and wished himself good luck as he sent it out the window with Majesty.
During breakfast Draco watched in amusement the way that Laura and Jessica were looking at the letter. It was so girly and romantic at the same time that Draco couldn't help but smile. He never would've thought that good things like this would melt his heart. Within the next few minutes, Jessica had been pulled to the side by Dean to ask her to the Dance. Draco watched her smile and nod, then give him a tiny hug. Laura looked back at her friend who now sat down blushing. They began giggling again and Jessica took the letter out of her hands to read it through once more. Draco laughed inwardly and went to leave. In the hallways he ended up walking behind Laura and Jessica, they didn't notice right away though. Draco used this as the perfect time to eavesdrop.
"Are you going to meet him at the ball then?" Jessica asked.
"I think so, but how will I know its him?" Laura wondered.
"Well it says that he'll be at the top of the stairs, leaning against the banister with a flower in his hand." Jessica giggled. Laura laughed too as they began to talk about what he'd be like and tried guessing who it was.
"I hope he's handsome, you know like a fairytale prince or something," Laura sighed.
"Well I hope it's me you're talking about!" Draco smirked and threw his arms around Jessica and Laura. They both went red and got quiet really fast.
"Hi Draco," Laura smiled. "We were just talking about my admirer."
"I noticed, are we still on for tomorrow, in Hogsmeade?"
"Of course, I need a man's opinion anyways on my dress." Laura joked and playfully poked him in the ribs. Jessica snickered as they ran off to Arithmancy class, leaving Draco to head off to Advanced Charms. He was so nervous about the upcoming events that he couldn't properly cast a book to fly anywhere but to his feet. Draco had written so much in that letter as in why he liked her and still couldn't believe how many pages he'd actually used. He had liked his best friend for so long and waited until now to say something about it. Draco hoped that her reaction to having him as her secret admirer was good. He really hoped she didn't flip out and ignore him for the rest of her life.
