You Are My Everything

By: Liz R.

Abbott Robbins was a fairly handsome boy of seventeen. He had short brown hair that was highlighted with artful strings of blonde. His thin, tanned face was smooth, and the home of his deep blue eyes. His smile showed white even teeth, and was truly enchanting.

At the moment where our story begins, however, the last thing on earth the young Ravenclaw wanted to do was smile. His day had been the worst of his life so far. He'd lost twelve points for Ravenclaw, two from McGonegall for being out of uniform (his top button hadn't been buttoned), and ten from Snape for overflowing his cauldron. He'd missed lunch because of cleaning up the dungeon and learned that he was failing Defense Against the Dark Arts. The worst of it though was when Katie had taken her leave.

I remember you

Do you remember me too?

Born on the fourteenth of July

The smell of roses made her cry

"I just can't stand this, Abbott. I'm sorry." Her eyes had looked red and swollen.

"Why, what's wrong?"

She turned away as a solitary tear fell down her cheek. "I can't see you anymore. I'm being called a traitor by people in my class." She looked up at him. "You know, because you're on the team for Ravenclaw."

"What! Why do you care, Katie? I'm not putting you out of action! I'm not stealing your team's secrets! Hell, I'm not even the bloody captain!"

"I know," she choked through sobs. "But..." she paused to think as she dabbed at her streaming eyes. "I can't do this; I love you..." she trailed off,

"So don't!" Abbott begged.

"I have to." She kissed Abbott on the cheek and walked out of his life.

Though you're going far from home

Rest assured you're not alone

So Abbott sat blankly on his bed in the Ravenclaw seventh year boy's dormitory. He couldn't stop thinking about what she said. 'I can't do this; I love you.' Did she?

"Hey," Abbott turned see his best friends Miles Holden and Erich Kramer. 'What's wrong?"

Abbott turned to his friends. "Katie."

Erich's face contorted. "You broke up with your girlfriend? Over what?"

"Quidditch."

"Oh," stuttered Miles delicately. "She can't date you anymore because people will think you're using her."

Abbott buried his face in his hands.

Cause I would give everything I own

I'll give you my heart and the skin on these bones

The sun, the moon, the earth, the sky

Never even stop to wonder why

I would do anything

I would give everything

To be your everything

Erich patted Abbott apologetically on the shoulder. "It's alright." He crouched down in front of Abbott's four-poster and gazed deep into his friend's dejected eyes. "She'll come around, Abbott. Don't obsess over this. Remember, she loves you."

Miles chipped in, "We can always tell she loves you."

Abbott gave an unenthusiastic gesture of projecting his arms out and crumbling melodramatically onto the bed.

Hours later, Abbott was strewn across his four-poster face down. His eyes were pinched shut as every memory he had of dating Katherine Mary Bell pulsed through his sore head.

Seems like such a long, long time

Since your body crossed my mind

But I think that you should know

It wasn't I who had to go

Abbott eventually cried himself to sleep. Not a manly thing to do in the slightest.

Abbott had a horrific headache when he awoke the next morning. He kneaded his stinging forehead with his knuckles. 'Be a man, Abbott. Be a man.'

He sunk down between Erich and his fourteen-year-old younger brother Khristien.

"What's the matter with you?" Khristien inquired.

"His girlfriend dumped him!" Khristien's twin, Alejandre, snickered. Alejandre was seated across from Abbott.

"Would you shut up, Alej?" Abbott snapped. He rounded on Erich. "What's first period?"

"We have Transfiguration,"

Abbott choked on his kipper. They had Transfiguration with the Gryffindors.

Cause I would give everything I own

I give you my love and this heart made of stone

The sun, the moon, the earth, the sky

Motorcycle that I like to ride

I would do anything

I would give everything

To be your everything

Abbott entered Professor McGonnegall's classroom to find all the pupil's standing around its perimeter.

"Due to the constant and never ceasing amount of chit-chatting that goes on in this classroom, today I will be assigning you seats." She snapped up a sheet of parchment from the top of her cluttered desk, flung it open and began to belt out names like bullets. She moved swiftly along the premier row. "Firestone, Sonja; Culligan, Shayna; Robbins, Abbott..."

He was next to Shayna Culligan. Did it get much more just-shoot-me-now morbid?

"Bell, Katherine..." Apparently it did. "And Pherem, Kai." She moved on to the second row. "Holden, Miles; Ingesi, Marcellino; Spinnet, Alicia; Ingesi, Mauricia; Kramer, Erich." Third row. "Weasley, George; Eichel, Raven; Johnson, Angelina; DuBois, Marquis, Weasley, Fredric. Jordan, you sit up here with me." Her nostrils flared.

Abbott avoided Katie's eyes as he hunkered down into his seat and shuffled his books around. Every so often he would glance over at her out of the corner of his eye. Their eyes met.

Katie just gawked at him, her mouth slightly ajar. Abbott didn't know what to do. He never wanted to look away, but woes betide him if he wasn't going to be strong about this. So he dispensed her tiny, polite smile and she looked away.

Abbott sighed despairingly. No one said this would be cinchy.

"Abbott!" He was exiting the Transfiguration room when the shriek reached his ears. He whirled around. There stood Katie. She looked positively capsized. "Uh, Abbott...um...I...can talk to you?" she spat out.

Abbott shrugged in a falsely unconcerned manner and followed her into a vacated classroom. He watched her wring her hands, she looked so nervous.

She opened and shut her mouth as though unsure of how to tell him something. Shut did this continually until she blurted out, "Abbott, I can't live this!"

"Like what?" He tried to sound cold, but his compassionate, loving voice broke through somehow.

"Without you," she croaked out softly.

But if ever you should stray

Just sing along and will play

He let his fingers slide delicately down her tear-stain face. He brought her chin up so that she was looking him dead in the face and said, "Whether we get back together is entirely up to you, Katie." His hands left her cheeks and he stepped back.

Look into your hands

I'm slipping through them like a tiny grain of sand

I remember you

Do you remember me too?

Seems like such a long, long time

Since I held you near and called you mine

Katie thought a moment, apparently puzzled by his reaction. But just as Abbott turned to miserably head back to his dormitory, he felt her arms curl around his waist from behind. "I love you, Abbott."

"Not more than I love you." He paused. "What about your teammates?"

"They just have to get over themselves won't they?"

Abbott smirked into Katie's hair. "That's my girl."

Cause I would give everything I own

I'll give you my heart and the skin on these bones

The sun, the moon the Earth the sky

Brand new car that you and I could drive

I would do anything

I would give everything

To be your everything
