- Author's Note:
- This is set in the interlude between MWPP leaving Hogwarts and the incident at Godric’s Hollow *sob* - Just a bit of pointless, mundane fluff with Sirius and Remus going shoe shopping.
Sirius looked cute when he pouted. Hell Sirius looked cute all the time, but Remus decided he especially liked it when he pouted, all dark and mysterious and utterly childish.
"Remus! You've already tried on that pair three times!" Sirius practically wailed. Remus sighed. His partner, though he adored him, could never understand why one had to be thorough about such things. It simply wouldn't do to buy a pair and have to take them back three days later because they were the wrong size. The man was too, for want of a better word, hasty. Remus smiled and slipped his feet into the shoes. They really were very comfortable. Almost like gloves for his feet.
"Remus!" Sirius was getting very irate now, Remus could sense the 23 year old man just wanted to stomp his feet and throw a hissy fit. He smiled at him and got to his feet.
"I have to make sure they fit," he admonished. Secretly this had become less about getting shoes that fitted him, and more about seeing just how far he could push Sirius. He wondered when that had happened, but pushed that thought out of his mind. He really did have to make sure the shoes fitted...
Pacing up and down the shop he paused at one of the shelves, noticing a lovely lace-up pair. Calling over the assistant he asked quietly if he could try on a pair of those as well. The look on Sirius' face said it all. He looked like he was about to strangle Remus with his own bootlaces. Remus knew Sirius would never hurt him, but all the same it made him a little uneasy.
"If you're so bored, you may as well try on some shoes for yourself. You can't keep wearing those horrible things." Remus pointed to the awful walking boots that Sirius had worn ever since he'd bought them just after leaving Hogwarts. They were falling apart at the seams, but Remus had never quite been able to convince him to wear any other shoes. It wasn't as if he never bought any other shoes, he just didn't wear them; that was all.
"I can, and I will." Sirius pouted. Remus loved it when he was in one of these moods - it meant playful teasing now would lead to other sorts of playing later. He closed his eyes, anticipating what was to come. When he opened them Sirius had gone over to the other side of the shop and was looking at a pair of high-heeled red stilettos.
"What do ya think, Moony? Would they suit me?" Remus blushed and ducked his head, lest anyone should think he was with this weirdo.
"Mooony!"
He bent closer to his shoes to inspect the lining - it had nothing to do with wanting to hide inside them. "Well if you won't tell me I'll have to try them on and see. Excuse me miss, can I try these on in an eight and a half?" The girl looked startled, but had obviously been trained well as she didn't bat an eyelid as she went out to the stockroom.
"What do you think you're doing?" Remus hissed when Sirius came over.
"Just speeding things up, Moony old boy." He gave him a rakish grin "You won't want to stay long in here now, will you?" And with a wink he sauntered off to the other side of the room. Remus heard a guffaw of laughter from the stockroom and the sales assistant arrived from the back room, still grinning. He wanted the earth to just open up and swallow him whole.
"Why thank you, love." Sirius gave the girl a wink and she blushed.
Remus bent his head to the task at hand. Trying on his fifth pair of shoes that day he began to walk up the shop, but his concentration was spoiled by a rather loud "Excuse me!" from behind him. He turned to see a very much taller Sirius Black standing behind him tapping his daintily clad foot. "I would quite like to get to the mirror if you wouldn't mind." Remus thought his blush must have started at his feet. He could feel all the blood in his body draining to his face. (Well that and other places, those shoes did look surprisingly good...) Sirius stood in front of the mirror, turning his feet this way and that.
"Hmm... I'm not sure I like them. The strap's rather uncomfortable, and I'm not sure... What do you think?" He turned to look Remus in the eye, "Do they make my ankles look fat?" Remus stepped up to him and put his arm around the man's waist.
"God you're strange, but I love you for it." He placed a tender kiss on his partner's lips and pulled him even closer.
"Who are you, and what have you done with Remus? You do realise we're in the middle of a shoe shop, don't you?" chuckled Sirius. Looking deep into Sirius' dancing eyes Remus felt a change in the mood. Everything became suddenly more serious
"I know, but I just can't help myself Sirius Black. I would do anything to make your eyes look like that one more time. I would do anything for you. You affect me that way. That, and you look really hot in those shoes," Remus whispered. "Let's get out of here." Sirius grinned. Taking off his shoes he turned to the gaping sales assistant.
"We'll take these."
"And these," added Remus, handing over a pair of black loafers.
"Remus!" Sirius admonished. "Those are the first pair of shoes you tried on!" Remus had the grace to look sheepish.
"C'mon let's get you home. You might finally be able to get me out of these boots," he winked, and Remus was not exactly opposed to the idea.
