The boats bumped against the lake edge, and the students cautiously got out of them. Samantha and Samuel pushed Chelsea aside as she was getting out of the boat, making them first out of it. Samuel offered Ginny a hand out of the boat, but as Chelsea was getting out, he snatched his hand away and kicked the boat, making it drift out, thus making Chelsea fall out, into the water. Nevertheless, it was shallow, so Ginny waded in to help her up.
Farther up the grounds, the Sams' were snickering and dusting imaginary lint off of their clothes. "Oh, did you get a bit wet?" they called. Ginny and Chelsea rolled their eyes. Ginny pulled out her wand, said, 'drymoira', and instantly Chelsea felt like she had just been toweled off after a bubble bath. She gave Ginny a smile and quickly ran with her up the hill, to where the giant man was bidding them to hurry.
When they had been herded into the castle by a stern looking witch (who had introduced herself to be Professor McGonagall), she placed a hat in front of the long line of eager (and nervous) first-years. As she began to call the names of students, they each came forward. When Professor McGonagall finally called out "Parkinson, Chelsea."
She hurried forward, not knowing what to expect, as she had been chatting with cousin Pansy (they were in between the Slytherin and Gryffindor tables), who she hadn't known was also a witch.
She sat down on a hard, wooden stool, while the Professor put the hat on her head. It smells like mothballs! she exclaimed as it sank down over her head. All of a sudden, she felt something tap into her thoughts. Hmm, what to expect with this one... she seems intellect enough... cheerful... yes...I know... "RAVENCLAW!!!!!!!!" the hat cried.
The table decked in black robes with blue and silver badges began to cheer loudly as Chelsea made her way over. She smiled as she watched a girl named Alexia, who she had briefly talked with on the train, get put into Slytherin.
"Geez, with a smile that bright, you gotta wear shades!" a boy remarked from the table next to them (Gryffindor). Chelsea giggled when she saw who it was- Ron!
"Err, yeah..." she trailed off as she saw a boy sitting across from him.
She realized that she must have been staring at the boy, because then he introduced himself to be Seamus Finnigan. He smiled at her, then she blushed red (she seemed to be doing it a lot lately) and turned her attention back to her plate, a smile playing across her lips.
"Hi! I'm Denise!" a friendly blonde next to her exclaimed.
"Pleased to meet you," Chelsea said in reply. Quickly gobbling up her food, she decided that she would rather talk than eat.
The two new Ravenclaws chatted the evening away, and then were herded up the stairs with the rest of the Ravenclaws to the common room. Chelsea caught Ginny's eye amidst the Gryffindor crowd, and waved goodnight to her before looking for Seamus. She didn't see him, and turned around dejectedly. Why do I feel this way about him? I mean, I barely know him... he's not in my house, and I'm sure that there are better looking guys, such as that adorable blonde boy from the train... or even Harry and/or Ron! They weren't bad looking... she thought as she turned a corner.
"Pixy wings," said a prefect to what appeared to be a solid stone wall. Chelsea watched in surprise as it opened up to be a passageway, and all of the Ravenclaws followed it a short way before ending up in a cozy room with blue overstuffed chairs. Denise poked Chelsea and giggled nervously. The prefect who had opened the door began to speak again. "I am Blanche Phellen. First year boys, your dorm is over there," she said, pointing to a door on her left. The boys disappeared through the door. Blanche continuted. "Girls, over there." She once again pointed, but this time to the right. The girls went in, hurriedly changed into their pajamas and did their nightly routine (brushing their hair, teeth, washing faces, ect.) and collapsed into bed, after a long day.
