The Final Reckoning

Harry, Ron and Hermione are heading for their final year at Hogwarts. As Ron struggles to come to terms with his new abilities and he and Hermione try to help Harry come up with a way to defeat Voldemort, Harry gets a second chance at happiness. But the girl in Harry’s life makes the perfect target for Voldemort, and she may be special in more ways than one.

Harry broods over his ex-girlfriend, annoys his relatives, and gets a visit from a friend who has good news, and bad news.

Ron and Ginny have a heart to heart, Percy goes to work, and Mrs. Weasley and the twins all come bearing important news.

In this chapter Harry leaves Privet Drive for the Burrow, but not before enjoying some humour at his relatives' expense.

Ron has another nasty dream and tells Harry his secret, Bill makes a happy announcement, Mrs. Weasley is called in by the Order for a special assignment, and a very unexpected guest arrives, with some very bad news.

Ron, Harry and Ginny reassure Hermione, and then the Quartet discuss sleeping arrangements, and Harry and Ginny agree to give Ron and Hermione some alone time. Note that this chapter contains some sexual references.

Harry comforts Ginny and notices things about her for the first time; Mrs. Weasley gets back to the Burrow earlier than expected, and the results are very nearly disastrous.

Hermione gets some good news, the Trio finds out they're going to be doing Apparition training together, and Harry is having some...interesting thoughts about Ginny.

Hermione and Ron have a romantic afternoon, which is interrupted by something disturbing; the Trio plus Ginny come up with an idea to find out more about Voldemort's latest plans; Harry goes to witness preparation, and Ron learns something new about his girlfriend.

Harry goes to witness preparation, discusses his past with Ron, Hermione and Ginny, experiences more pain in his scar, and bonds with Ginny over tea.

Harry and Company go to Malfoy's trial, only to discover that something has gone very, very wrong, and things only get worse from there.

The Trio and Ginny are back at Grimmauld Place and not at all happy with their new houseguest. Things take a particularly nasty turn when Harry and Ron learn that Draco is interested in Ginny, but his interest is related to something unexpected.

Ron has an unusual dream about a stranger who looks oddly familiar, and the Trio and Malfoy start Apparition training.

Hermione has a mishap in Apparition training; Harry learns of Ginny's unusual powers; Hogwarts letters arrive, with a surprise for both Hermione and Ron.

Hermione helps Ron come to terms with his new responsibilities, but they can't seem to find any time to be alone; the Trio boards the Hogwarts' Express for their last start-of-term journey, and a few Slytherins make a peace offering.

Harry gets a date but decides girls really are confusing; there is a mysterious new DADA teacher; Dumbledore makes a surprising announcement; Harry gets a taste of Ginny's power.

Ron and Hermione settle into their Head Boy and Girl duties, so to speak. Ginny arranges a training session; Dumbledore wants a meeting; and the Trio has their first lesson with the mysterious new DADA teacher, Professor Hopkirk, who has some very unorthodox ideas.

Harry and his friends have their meeting with Dumbledore, and Harry is given a key that unlocks something very important...

Hermione offers a theory about Professor Hopkirk, and Ginny and Harry have a heart-to-heart about many things...

The Trio make plans to re-enter the Chamber of Secrets; Ron has his first training session with Firenze, has some disturbing visions, and learns he must give up a few things for a while.

Harry holds Quidditch try-outs; the Trio and Ginny go down into the Chamber of Secrets.

Harry gets the safe open with his friends' help; Harry and Daphne go on a date, and witnesses an incident involving Malfoy; the pressure of Ron's training gets to him, and he and Hermione row.

Ron and Hermione make up; Hermione vows to help Ron get through his tough two weeks; Ron has a startling but wonderful vision; Professor Hopkirk's teaching gets more unsettling.

Ron has a frightening vision, and learns something about Dumbledore; the Trio, Ginny and the Gryffindors celebrate Hermione's 17th birthday, with humorous results.

Harry reads more letters from his parents and learns something interesting about Neville; the students attend their first D.A. meeting of the year with Hopkirk, and discover something shocking, and the sparks fly between Hopkirk and Hermione.

Hopkirk gives increasingly scary but necessary lessons; Hermione finally cracks the mysterious coded letters written by Harry's mother; the mystery surrounding Hopkirk deepens.

Harry's date with Parvati is a disaster and he confides in Ron about it; Mrs. Tonks asks Ginny to take part in an unpleasant task.

Harry and Ginny's relationship takes a turn at the Halloween Ball; Harry learns a painful truth about Dumbledore.

Harry and Ginny tell Ron about their new relationship; Gryffindor faces Slytherin in Quidditch; the Quartet says farewell to someone special.

The aftermath of Dumbledore's death spurs The Quartet to talk to Professor Hopkirk, who reveals some important information.

Ron has a frightening vision; Theodore Nott acts suspicious; the Weasleys have a new employee; and Voldemort figures something out.

The Quartet make plans for Christmas and discuss an important potion; Harry witnesses an argument between Draco and Pansy that reveals something upsetting.

Harry and Ginny have it out about Draco's obsession; the Quartet leave Hogwarts for the holidays; Ron spends his first night in a Muggle household, with a few predictable results.

Harry spends Christmas with the Weasleys, and learns something new about Bill and Fleur; Ron and Hermione share a quiet Christmas with the Grangers, but danger strikes...
