Chapter 5- The Return of Wormtail

Harry took a step back in fright as Peter Pettigrew stepped in the house. He had an evil grin on his face as he looked from Harry to Mrs. Figg and back to Harry. "Hello, Harry."

Dudley had been holding the door open, a frown on his face. "Who are you?" he asked Pettigrew.

Pettigrew turned to face him Dudley. "I'm the man who has come to kill the great Harry Potter."

Dudley scoffed at Pettigrew's statement. "What's so great about him? All he is a little orphan runt."

"Yes, but he is the orphan runt who has twice thwarted my master." He turned to face Harry. "And he won't thwart him again." He raised his wand and pointed it at Harry. "Goodbye Potter. Say hello to your parents. AVAD..."

"STUPEFY!" yelled Mrs. Figg, bringing her wand out and pointing it at Pettigrew.

Pettigrew fell to the ground, his body frozen. Mrs. Figg stomped over to him angrily to make sure he was incapacitated. "Harry, go into the kitchen and fetch the jar in the cupboard above the stove. Dudley, help me drag him into the living room," she said.

Dudley, who had been standing by the door watching in horror and fright, moved to help drag the body into the living room. Harry rushed into the kitchen to fetch the jar. Once both tasks were completed, Mrs. Figg said: "Let's go. We need to get out of here before he awakens."

Harry frowned. "I thought he couldn't move until you said so."

"Lord Voldemort is very powerful, Harry. And he rewards his servants for the service to him." She gestured to Pettigrew, whose finger could be seen twitching. "He gives them stronger power. Already the spell is wearing off. We must hurry."

"Wait. What's going on?" asked Dudley, still very confused. "Who is that and who is Lord Voldie..."

"I'll explain on the way to your house. Come we must go." She tried to push them towards the door, but Dudley stopped her.

"My house? Dad's not going to like that," said Dudley.

"Your father doesn't have a choice," Mrs. Figg said as she ushered them out the door. They headed for 4 Privet Drive.

* * *

Fifteen minutes later they arrived at 4 Privet Drive breathless. "MOM! We're home," yelled Dudley as he rushed into the house. "GUESS WHAT? Mrs. Figg is a witch," he said, hurrying towards the kitchen.

Aunt Petunia walked out of the kitchen with a puzzled look on her face. "Dudley?" she asked simply.

"It's true, Mom. She's a witch. She tried to magic on me."

Aunt Petunia turned to look at Harry and Mrs. Figg still standing in the doorway. "Arabella?"

"Petunia, he's found him," she said simply.

Aunt Petunia's eyes widened in horror and she went very pale. "I thought.... you said..... he was gone..."

"He was... but last year he came back." A puzzled look was on her face as she turned to Harry. "Did you not tell them that he had risen again?"

Aunt Petunia found her voice. "Um.... we do not discuss Harry's.... abnormality. My husband doesn't allow it to be mentioned."

Mrs. Figg turned red with anger. "Abnormality? ABNORMALITY? BEING A WIZARD IS NOT AN ABNORMALITY!" she yelled. Aunt Petunia jumped back and Dudley whimpered as he plastered himself to the wall, covering his behind with his hands.

Mrs. Figg calmed down after a few minutes. "We need to get Harry somewhere safe," she said. She stomped into the living room and pulled out her wand. Everyone followed after her. She pointed the wand at the electric fireplace. She muttered something and then a great explosion took place.

Dudley screamed, Aunt Petunia was knocked down and Harry covered his eyes from the flying soot. The electric fireplace was replaced with a real fireplace with a hearty fire burning within it. "Not again," exclaimed Aunt Petunia. Mr. Weasley had blown up the fireplace last year when he had come to pick up Harry, via Floo powder.

"Harry, give me the jar," said Mrs. Figg. Harry rushed forward to place the jar into her hands. She opened it up and took a pinch of powder and through it into the fire. "ALBUS!" she yelled.

Moments later, Harry saw the head of Albus Dumbledore floating in the flames of the fire. Dumbledore was perhaps the greatest wizard of the age and the only one whom Lord Voldemort feared. He was also the headmaster at Hogwarts. "Yes Arabella?" he said, his eyes twinkling as he saw Harry.

Aunt Petunia whimpered and fell to the floor. The sight of a head floating in her living room fireplace was simply too much for her to handle. Dudley had rushed out of the room when Mrs. Figg blew up the fireplace. "Albus, he's found us."

Dumbledore's normally kind and gentle face twisted into anger. "How? When? Who?" he asked.

"Peter Pettigrew just attacked us at my house. I was able to stupefy him but it was not going to hold him for long," Mrs. Figg said.

Harry saw Dumbledore contemplate all this for a moment. "We must get him out of here, Albus. It's not safe anymore," Mrs. Figg said.

Dumbledore twisted his head to look at Harry. "Harry, go and collect your things and bring them down here."

"Yes, sir," said Harry. He went upstairs to quickly pack up all his belongings. Once he returned downstairs, he saw that Aunt Petunia had awoken but Dudley was still nowhere to be seen. Mrs. Figg and Dumbledore turned to look at him as he entered the room. "We've decided to bring you here, Harry," said Dumbledore.

"We are going to travel by Floo. Dumbledore will perform the necessary spell to allow us to get to Hogwarts. You'll be safe there," said Mrs. Figg. She turned to Dumbledore. "We'll be along shortly, Albus." Dumbledore's head disappeared from the fire with a loud pop.

"We must give him time to prepare," said Mrs. Figg. She rushed over to help Aunt Petunia to her feet. "I'm very sorry, Petunia. We need to get Harry to safety. Lord Voldemort won't attack you if he knows he is gone. I'm sure Pettigrew will inform him that he is gone."

Suddenly, Dudley rushed into the living room. "Heee's backkkkk!" he yelled.

"Hurry, Harry." She held out the jar and Harry reached inside to grab some powder. He threw into the fire and yelled: "Hogwarts!" He jumped into the fire and disappeared from sight.
