- I hope you like this chapter. Chapter four will be up in a little while. I still have to go through it and make sure of everything. Again, thanks to Alicia my beta reader, Ellie my best friend, and the staff at Fiction Alley.
Chapter Three
As they got settled in Professor Dumbledore's office Liz started talking.
"As you know, my mother's family is old, rich, and respected. One of those reasons for the latter is that long ago, when the family was not as old, my twenty-three times great-grandmother saved Eilenas' family from annihilation, as you know leprechauns have a separate world that they go to when they die." Everyone nodded. "This group was going to fix it so that these leprechauns spirits would be enslaved for all eternity, having to do their bidding. Grandmother Victoria thought this was evil manifested in these people. So she took her two daughters out with just their wands, three swords, and a bow and a quiver, and killed every one of those people. All three hundred and thirty-six of 'em. When they freed the Sleane Clan, the leprechauns who were to be enslaved, which was pretty much all of them, vowed to serve them. Victoria accepted their vow, but said if they chose to not serve any one of her descendants then they didn't have to serve them, or could serve a different person. Eilena is the one who chose to watch over me. What is interesting about their vow is that when you die, they will guard your grave until they die, since leprechauns live much longer than humans, so occasionally you'll come across a tomb with a leprechaun standing outside of it, looking fearsome. When they die, they're buried at your feet, so that they guard you in death, too." She finished, sighed and slumped into her chair.
Ron, Hermione, Draco, Pansy, Ernie, Hannah, Anthony, and Padma looked shocked and horrified, but at the same time fascinated.
"But..." said Anthony, a Ravenclaw. "But, why did your family save them and not any others?I don't understand." He finished and looked half embarrassed, half wondering.
"Well," Liz said. "Because all the other families were a part of that travesty. Victoria thought it wise not to inform them where she was going and what she was doing. Grandmother Vicky was more of a firecracker than a talker. When she put her mind to it she kicked some serious ass, though."
Draco looked at her and felt that he would never understand all of her mysteries. Liz coughed suggestively and looked at Eilena, who grumbled and handed her a flask.
"Now milady," she said firmly. "Don't you be drinkin' that whole flask. You'll be gettin' yourself tanked n' if you do, remember, Gavin did that every night, milady, and look where he is now."
"Excuse me," Professor Dumbledore asked. Everyone, including Liz, who was chugging the bottle, looked at him. "But may I inquire what is in the flask?" Looking at the flask, Draco decided that it must hold a quart of fluid.
"Firewhiskey, Your Headmastership, sir. On'y with a wee dram of a clear substance in it. When milady feels faint or such she has to take a dose of it," as the leprechaun said this, Draco realized that it was a way for Eilena to explain what was in it, and keep her mistress out of trouble.
The headmaster noticed that the leprechaun was being purposely eluseful on the subject of what the 'clear substance' was. Clearly she wasn't going to tell him what if he didn't ask outright.
"What is this 'clear substance'? Not water I expect." Eilena squirmed in her position next to the Liz was in.
"Vodka or Gin, Your Headmastership, sir. But on'y to dilute the Firewhiskey." All the Prefect's eyebrows went up so high they went into their hairlines.
"You stupid ignorant little creature!" Draco yelled, face-turning maroon. "You don't put Gin into Firewhiskey, you put Vodka, elsewise the person drinking the substance will be the opposite of stone cold sober!" Once again, the Prefects (except, of course, Pansy) were absolutely shocked, especially Hermione.
Suddenly Liz stood up and fished an oval, plate-sized mirror out of her bag and hung it in mid-air. It was humming. The humming sounded like Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy'.
"Hello, this is Liz. And, if this is Gavin then you can just go to hell!"
"Elizabeth?!" said a voice. "This is Mother, Liz, darling. Is Eilena there? Her mother said she was, but I wasn't sure." Liz rolled her eyes.
Margeret Montgomery had never been sure if leprechaun magic worked or not.
"Mum, she's here. But if you remember I specifically told her to stay at my tower." Liz informed her mother.
"Oh, I know, dear, but she's supposed to stay with you. After all that's her purpose for living."
"Bloody racist," Liz muttered.
"What's that love? Did mummy hear you right? Are you swearing again? I thought if we got you away from that dreadful Gavin you'd stop all this bad behavior, though I see you haven't. Your Grandparents would be thoroughly ashamed of you," the Duchess told her.
"Look, Mum, can we have a family conference when I'm not surrounded by some people I would like to like me? Can't we ever have people like me and not you? But nooooo, we mustn't have that! Well, then, GOODBYE! Leave me alone from now on, OK?!" Liz said to her mother. She waved her hand over the screen of the mirror, obviously hanging up. Then she sank into her chair saying: "I just seceded from my family. The horde will be upon us very soon." With that she drank the rest of her flask, threw it to Eilena and walked out of the office. They could hear her snapping "Open up!" to the door on her way out. *Oh. My. God. * Draco thought *This is not going to be good. *
Author notes: Hey you made it! I'm still shocked that people like this story. Madame A.S.: I'm aorry for no explaination, don't worry it WILL come.
Chapter Four: Liz talks aobut her family's history, and gets slightly sloshed.
