Chapter Five
It had been weeks now, and Hermione was quite used to the idea of living in a room with nineteen other girls, only leaving the "dorm" a minute before she went to class because the classroom was right down the hall, and their "Great Hall" being barely large enough to fit Milicent Bulstrode. But she still wasn't used to the glares that the guys gave her, all because she had 'robbed them of their precious Rochelle'. As if it was her fault that Rochelle was too pretty to get over! Puh-lease!The girls, however, welcomed Hermione with open arms. It seemed as if Rochelle had a bad reputation as a snot with the girls and a slut with the guys, even though she was supposedly a virgin. But, it was still unnerving that the guys winced whenever they looked at the sight of her as if she were someone blocking a magnificent view of a beautiful sunset. Oh well. She still had Harry. Even if he was an ocean away, he would always care. She remembered the day he asked her out...
It was a warm summer day, not muggy, though. It was the perfect temperature. Harry and her were visiting The Burrow. Everyone had fallen asleep, but Hermione had slipped out to look at the bright stars against the clear night sky. She'd always had a thing for star-gazing. Hermione was about to sit on the bench in the garden that had the best view of the beautiful sky, when she realized someone was already sitting on it. Harry. They sat and pointed out the beautiful constellations for a while. Then Harry said those magical eight words.
"Do you want to go out with me?"
Just like that! Of course, Hermione said yes. She had had a crush on Harry since he left her to walk through the fire and battle Quirrel and Voldemort in their 1st year. Hermione had had that fling with Krum, but she just did that to make Harry jealous. She had visited Krum before coming to the Burrow and had told him that she couldn't go out with him anymore.
"But vy, Herm-own-ninny?" Krum had asked tragically.
Hermione told him that her heart was set on someone else, but that they could still be friends.
Harry leaned in and pressed his lips softly against hers. She gave herself up to the kiss she had been yearning for for so long as the stars twinkled above them. They would have done more, but who knowss how many Weasleys were watching?

It was November now. Most of the leaves on the magnificent trees had fallen and covered the vast Hogwarts grounds making the stretch of land yellow, orange, and red. Rochelle had been labeled as a snot with the girls. Oh well. She was used to that. It had been the same at her old school. Harry was still nice to her, and Ron was still reddening at the sight of her. (Get over it! I don't like you, Ron!) Draco was still being his cocky, superior self, and so on and so forth. Rochelle was now wincing as the days on her calendar quickly whisked forwards, getting closer and closer to the day after Christmas, when she would have to 'get it on' with Draco against her will...

"Hello Sirius, thank you for joining me on such short notice," said Professor Dumbledore, motioning for Sirius to take a seat in the red cushioned chair facing his desk.
"Thank you, Dumbledore. I came as soon as I could. What's wrong?" replied Sirius, sitting in the chair.
"What's wrong is that I have gotten word that Voldemort is planning a large-scale Muggle attack. The largest ever. I know from anonymous sources that it is to take place somewhere in the United States, but I am waiting for a reply that will tell me exactly where. He is planning on exterminating all the Muggles in that area, and then taking it over to use a his base." said Dumbledore solemnly.
"But, If Voldemort takes over a portion of the U.S we wouldn't stand a chance in stopping him!"
"Exactly," said Dumbledore patiently.
"Wait, you don't mean..." Faltered Sirius, eyes widening as he stared at Dumbledore.
"Yes, that is exactly what I mean." Said Albus, quietly.
"No, Dumbledore. I forbid it! I am Harry's godfather. I care very much for Ron, too! The other two I'm not so sure about, you know which one I am especially wary of... But I still wouldn't want them in that kind of trouble! Besides, do you really trust that Malfoy boy to be on our side?" Queried Sirius to Dumbledore.
"It is not your decision whether or not they will go. It is fate. Destiny. You cannot stop it. And as for the Malfoy boy, I believe that his loyalties actually lie with us, no matter how cruel and evil his father may be." Replied Dumbledore knowingly.
"Well, Dumbledore, I trust your instincts. But I still say we wait until we have word of where the attack is to take place. We'll cross that road when we get there, eh?"
"Alright, Sirius, we will wait for the news..."

Christmastime came in all its glory. Everyone was happy and excited, momentarily forgetting their worries about Voldemort to get caught up in the festivities. Most people who were going home for Christmas were leaving a few days before, and coming back Christmas afternoon, so that they could participate in the Christmas Ball, a party that was available for 5th years and up.
"So, Harry, who d'you reckon you'll be going to the ball with?" asked Ron one day as they sat in front of the fireplace in the common room.
Harry had just received word from Hermione that she wouldn't be coming to visit for Christmas, and he was pretty glum. It read:
Dear Harry,
How's school going? It's good here. Everyone is being so nice to me!
I'm really sorry, but I think it would be better if I didn't come down for the Christmas Ball. You see, they're having a ball here at North Dakota School of Magical Spells and Whatnot, too, and I feel this would be the perfect time for me to socialize and meet new people. I miss you so much, and I PROMISE I will come down for the Easter holidays. And don't worry about getting me jealous if you go to the ball with some girl. I know you're always faithful, and that you would just bring some girl for fun. Happy Christmas and lot's of love,
Your adoring girlfriend,
Hermione
"So, who are you bringing," repeated Ron.
"I don't know, maybe I'll just wait around for some girl to ask me," said Harry, rereading the note sorrowfully for the umpteenth time.
"Well, I know who I would ask, if I were brave enough," said Ron sheepishly.
"Hmmm... this girl wouldn't so happen to be the one I call Rocky, now would it?" said Harry, smiling and tearing his eyes away from the letter for the first time to grin at Ron.
"But she's way out of my league so I'll just have to find someone else," Ron sighed, "I'm tired, Harry. I'm just going to hit the sack, okay?"
Harry nodded, engrossed in Hermione's letter again, completely oblivious to the fact that he could ask any damn girl out and they would say yes.
Wish I were bloody gorgeous like him, thought Ron as he stared at Harry's handsome profile against the firelight from the staircase. He then stopped climbing and wondered why he had just thought that.
Author' note: Hmmm...what was that about? Thanks to all who reviewed, I'm doing my best! And thanks again to my betas.
