Author's Note:
I am such a good mood. I am writing this and listening to The Nutcracker Suite, which is pretty damn good if you ask me. Make me happier by reviewing. Go on, you know you want to.

Chapter 3

Saturday 1995

Cho has gone mad. Seriously, she started screaming and shouting at me, crying her eyes out. I simply asked her if she loved Cedric, my answer, again, was no. I'll admit that it was silly of me to ask her, when I know the answer. I thought maybe she would have missed him, and find that she really did love him. If she had said yes, I would have told her what happened between Cedric and me. But she said no, and I yelled a lot of abuse to her. I judged her too quickly, but that was a way to end our friendship, but not the best way.

Alyce was up earlier than the other girls in the dorm. She had a dream, about Cedric. It was another memory of their happiness:

It was the end of theYule Ball. She had already said goodnight to her date, Andrew Wiseman, and was walking towards to the staircase.

She saw Cho far ahead of her, so she stopped. She didn't want to talk to her tonight.

"Hey Alyce," came a familiar voice from behind her.

It was Cedric.

"Hi Cedric," she said camly.

What Cho didn't know, was that Alyce and Cedric were secretly together, meeting only in private, and empty classrooms.

"How long do you think this can go on, before Cho finds out?" Alyce asked him.

"I don't know, but I love you, nothing can change that," he said lovingly.

"I love you as well, Cedric. More than I can say."

He looked at her, seducingly.

Cedric took her hand in his, and led her to a classroom.

"What are doi..."

Cedric slammed his lips against hers, and kissed her passionatly.

She let his tongue explore her mouth. To Alyce, it felt so good.

Her fingers went through his hair, and Cedric's hands went up and down her hips.

Cedric loved her and she loved him back. This was how it was supposed to be.

He knew that Cho didn't love him, Alyce told him that. He knew he could trust Alyce, and that she loved him.

He drew back from the kiss, and whispered into her ear: "Do you love me?"

"Yes. I will love you forever....."

Alyce woke up. She realizied she wasn't in Cedric's arms, she was alone in her bed, the only sound was her room-mates snoring slightly.

It had felt so real, his tongue in her mouth, her hands weaving through Cedric's brown hair. She never wanted it to end. But now, Cedric was gone. Dreaming was her only way to contact him.

Lying in her bed, Alyce shed her first tear. She wasn't crying hard, just one little tear fell from her eye. But that tear had so much in it, love, passion, anger, fear.

She felt sad, that this was the way she expressed her emotions, all the bad things in her life, whether with family, friends or Cedric, had only one tear between them.

Cho had cried, lots. Alyce couldn't count how many Cho had cried. Alyce's mind woke up 'What do you think you're saying? Thinking of her, she hates you now, and you hate her.'

"Mmph," Alyce muttered, rolling over in her bed. Sometimes, she wish she didn't have a conscience.

***

When she got up, Alyce felt like hell. She felt like she was drunk the day before.

Her golden watch that her mother bought her told Alyce that it was quarter past 6 in the morning. 'Good', thought Alyce, 'The other girls won't be up for ages.'

Alyce wished she had her own room, like Cedric. She liked her privacy. She got changed, and brushed her hair.

She silently went through the door, and down the steps. The common room was empty (obviously) but the fire was crackling merrily.

She sat on the closest chair to the fireplace. It was strange. She felt cold. Alyce never felt cold. It didn't seem right.

She ran her fingers through her black hair. It wasn't like Cedric's, his was more thick, and rough.

'Don't think about him,' her mind coaxed. Alyce's eyes felt sore. Not watery, sore. She wasn't going to cry. It didn't seem right.

She soon heard a ra-ta-ta-ta on the window. She looked over. She recognised the knocking. Alyce saw there was a barn owl at the window. She recognized the owl as well. It was her brother's owl, and she had a favourite way of tapping at things.

Alyce opened the window, and the owl immediantly flew in, with a large package in her mouth.

"Thanks Blondie," she said stroking the owl's soft neck. Blondie (her brother had a sick mind) rubbed her beak against Alyce fingers, after Alyce removed the package from Blondie's mouth.

Then the owl flew out the window, her wings spreading out proudly as she flew through the dawn.

Alyce looked at the package. It had a letter attached to it. Putting the parcel down without her eyes leaving the letter, opened it up.

On a piece of parchment, her brother had wrote something down in his usual italic writing:

Hiya Alyce!

Ever since I was put in Slytherin, we haven't had much of a chance to talk. I'd like us to meet outside the Forbidden Forest, tonight, 11pm. Come alone. Use what I have included in the package. Not the photo album, however.

See you there,

from your darling youngest sibling,

Malcolm

P.S Mum got you a new Krup

P.P.S You're not supposed to know

P.P.P.S I'm only writing this because I can't rub out the ink

Alyce sighed. 'Younger brothers' she thought.

In the package, was a big black photo album, a book about mystical crystals, and a small box that looked like it had some sort of jewelery in it.

She put down the album and the book, and opened the small box.

Inside, there was some sort of amethyst on a silver chain. Suddenly, the book on crystals started shaking, and it burst open.

Alyce looked at the book, cautiously. It had stopped at a page about strange looking amethysts.

"Lavanist amethysts have been used throughout the centuries as shadow gems, used to cloak the wearer, and to make them like a shadow, unseen, and unheard. Not many people have seen a lavinist amethyst, and many people believe then not to exist anymore," Alyce read out loud.

'Why would he want to speak to me?' thought Alyce. She shrugged, her brother was always the strange one in the family.

She opened the black photo album and looked through the pictures. 'Mum must have sent Malcolm these,' thought Alyce.

Alyce had put away the things her brother had given her, but she wore her lavanist amethyst over her robes. The book had said that if Alyce squeezed it, she would vanish! She would not be heard, and anything that touched her would go right through her, as if she were a ghost. By squeezing it once more, she would be visible, heard and thankfully, solid.

She went down to breakfast, her amethyst shining in the light of the sun. It was another bird singing, pigeon cooing day, but Alyce didn't mind. Her necklace made her feel better, maybe even stronger.

Alyce opened the doors to the Great Hall very slightly. She wasn't sure where to sit. Cho would have got the other girls to gang-up on her.

No one had seen her. Alyce checked the corridor quickly, then squeezed her lavanist amethyst. She disappered instantly.

Going into the Great Hall, she walked towards the Ravenclaw table, occasionally walking into people who got in her way.

She was soon standing right behind Cho. When nobody was looking, she got a big bowl of porridge from the table, and tipped it over Cho's head!

The porridge had given Cho such a suprise, she jumped up, and began screaming her head off, running up and down the Great Hall, waving her arms like a helpless penguin.

Alyce began laughing hysterically, and she was soon on the floor, banging her fists like a mad person, and was glad that not one soul could see her

Everyone at breakfast were soon in fits of laughter. When she calmed down a bit, , Alyce peered about the Hall, seeing that only Harry Potter wasn't laughing out loud. He had gone as red as Cho, nibbling his lip, laughing nervously

Alyce enjoyed watching the scene for a few more minutes, then strided out the Great Hall, smiling at the fact that she had humiliated Cho in front of hundreds of people!

She squeezed her amethyst again, and went outside. She needed to take a walk to calm herself down more.

Everyone was at breakfast. Nobody would come out for at least half an hour.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and it made Alyce feel like singing.

She went to the edge of the Forbidden Forest. It seemed so calm in the morning.

'What could be so wrong in talking a stroll during the day?' thought Alyce.

She walked into the forest, without a care in the world. After all, it was the morning, and it was bright. Nothing could go wrong.
