- Author's Note:
- Here's the 3rd chapter done. I beta-read it myself so I'm absolutely sure I did not screw up on anyones names. Especially Dumbledore's. Gawd, I mess up on his name right now even typing this. Here, read this chapter while I go bang that spelling into my head.
Lanae and Louis both creaked open the door to Dumbledore's office. They had seen it once before but that didn't stop Lanae from walking over to Fawkes perch and trying to pet him. It seemed that Dumbledore was elsewhere in the building because the office was bare of his presence and body.
"Hey Louis, did he say where he would be if we arrived early?" Lanae took a look at her brother who was checking out the sword in the case and the Sorting Hat which was muttering none too quietly to itself.
"Can't sing that-did it before...hmm..." Lanae suddenly grinned quite evilly as she walked to the hat, lifting it up to her eye level.
"I know. How about you sing this song. Here, I'll sing it first, then you can sing it whenever you sing today." Lanae took a breath, grinning madly at Louis before launching into song.
"Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw
Which of these houses is best for you, you ask
Stick me on your head and I'll easily tell you which one you belong in
Of course there's Gryffindor where dwell the very dense and confused
Hufflepuff, the loyal and hero type bull
Ravenclaw, the smart asses who can make you feel inferior without knowing
And Slytherin where the cunning, sneaky, and slightly evil ones dwell
Which will suit you best?
Try me on and let's have a look see
But don't make me think too hard,
I'm known to sing odd songs when confused
Considering the Wizard of Hogwarts didn't give me enough brains
Must call on the Wizard of Oz!"
Lanae set the hat down smirking at the song she had just made up on a whim. Louis struggled not to laugh as the hat gave a loud 'hmm' before shrieking 'YES!' and babbling thanks. It then mumbled the song over and over, memorizing it for the feast in a few hours.
"You're terrible Lanae! It's going to sing that in front of everyone and we'll going to get in trouble with the teachers and everyone." Louis threw a look at his sister who only grinned and sat down behind Dumbledore's desk, fiddling with the quills that sat there.
"We're only in trouble if we get caught. Besides, there is no evidence to prove that we taught it the song." Lanae grinned spinning one quill that had a golden tip around as it fell onto the floor under the desk.
"Hey! What's with the we? I didn't do anything to teach it! I didn't even hold it captive while you taught that insane song!" Louis bit his lip as he pet a slightly irritated Fawkes while he drifted into thought.
"Sheesh, what crawled up your ass and died Louis? It's always we because we are the pranksters extraordinary! Get into the spirit damn it! Don't know what happened to you but you were all for helping me prank this school before we went on the tour." Lanae ducked under the desk to pick up the quill, her fingers gripping it tightly as she looked about under the desk.
"Well...maybe I want to stay here...I don't exactly feel like going back over to Mom and Dad especially since the Dark Lord has been targeting muggle places." Louis crossed his arms letting Fawkes pick under its feathers and groom itself.
"God. Calm down. That guy isn't going to target us. We're just normal American wizards. Besides, he wants Harry Potter-ah! That's who that guy was!" Lanae suddenly snapped her head up right into the bottom of the desk causing the top to wobble slightly. She inched out rubbing her head as she jumped up and placed the quill back down.
"That's who which guy was? And why are checking out guys? That's my job." Louis narrowed his eyes at Lanae who paced about the office.
"The guy that was with Ginny and her prick brother! The one with that weird scar thing on his fore-head! God, I knew he was famous!" Lanae grinned as she suddenly dragged Louis on out of Dumbledore's office, back down the stairs, and into the hallway where she led him toward only she knew where.
"Where the hell are you dragging us Lanae? It's...1:15. Come on, let's just go on back to our rooms at Hog's head and-"
"No. We're going to do a bit of exploring while we still can." Lanae grinned, a glint in her eyes as she pulled out muggle fireworks that she had somehow been able to sneak into the school.
"Lanae! What in hell are you planning to do with those? You're insane!" Louis gripped his twin's arm, trying to steer her away from what looked to be a bathroom.
"Just going to cause a bit of a distraction so we can go on down into the Forest."
"No. No way Lanae! You do not have to do that just so we can go parade around a damn forest. All we have to do is walk on out and into the forest. Simple."
"No. Hagrid will stop us or grand-father will somehow. Besides, they'll just cause the seat to blow off. That's all. It's a harmless little fire cracker."
"What's this about a fire cracker and a toilet seat?" A sudden voice cut into Lanae and Louis's ears as they both froze in place, the fireworks being slipped into Lanae's robes with the swiftness of years as they both turned slowly to face whoever had heard them. Professor McGonagall stood there, her eyes peering over her spectacles at the two twins who still stood frozen. Suddenly Lanae stood up smoothly, her left hand pushing back the spiked hair from her eyes allowing it to fall over her eyes in a slightly seductive manner.
"Why, we were just talking about a novel that we read before where the main antagonists did that to a toilet at his school. We'll be on our way now to our grand-father's office Professor." Lanae tugged Louis who followed obediently behind her back to the stone gargoyle. They paused there looking back for McGonagall. When they saw the older woman wasn't following them they ran on down the hall heading for the front doors. Just as they rounded the corner they slammed into two people. Lanae and Louis both flew back onto their bottoms while the other two people did the same. Lanae sat up along with Louis, rubbing her head when she suddenly cracked her eyes open. When she saw the two people she nudged Louis as they both stood and held hands out. Lanae to Cho Chang and Louis to Lee Jordan.
"We're so sorry. We didn't know anyone was coming around the corner. We were just trying to go on out and sit on the grounds by the lake for a bit. We really are sorry." Lanae gripped the thin hand of Cho as she helped the older girl to her feet. Louis did the same to a bemused Lee as they both apologized repeatedly. Lanae let her lashes lower at certain points while one hand kept pushing back her hair. With a short 'it's okay' Cho breezed past them and on down the hall. Lee smiled at Louis winking while he went on his way on up the stairs to proberly the tower.
"Wow...he winked...I so have a chance." Louis stared after the retreating form of the older boy with dreadlocks, his eyes glassy in desire while his mouth hung open slightly. Lanae on the other hand wore a hurt/angry expression that could be recognized as rejection from a mile away.
"I don't have a chance in hell...damn it. I need to look...more...it's only 1:35 so we have time...Come on Louis." Lanae groaned as she pulled Louis on down the hall to the front doors where they slipped on outside and walked down to the large lake. The two settled down next to the lake, the sun suddenly feeling very warm and comforting. The two laid on down by each other, their arms being used as pillows as their eyes closed.
"Just...gonna rest my eyes." Lanae mumbled as she let her tired eyes slid shut. Louis just grunted as he also let his eyes fall shut.
-September 1. 6:30pm.-
"Huh? Wuzzat?" Lanae slid open her eyes, the sky not being filled by the gentle rays of the sun but covered in a darkening sky. The sun's rays barely peeked over the horizon as they set.
"Ah! It's dark! The feast has proberly begun! Louis, get your ass up!" Lanae tugged Louis to his feet as the two ran up to the front doors. Empty carriages stood near which was a defiant sign that they were late. Suddenly a large booming voice rang out behind them making them spin and pull out their wands. Hagrid was walking up along with the first-years to the doors.
"What are you two doing out here?" Hagrid titled his head slightly at the two who slipped their wands away mumbling 'fell asleep, sun' as they slipped behind the very short first years.
"Man, it's like at Gateway. The freshmen get shorter with every year..." Lanae cocked her eyes at her brother then at the 11 year olds who were crowded in front of the two. Louis narrowed his eyes at her as they went into the castle. Hagrid left them and went into the grand Hall while McGonagall led them into a smaller chamber near the Hall. She gave a brief glance to the two tall twins standing at the back before launching into her explanation of the sorting hat ceremony. Since they had heard it before Lanae and Louis amused themselves by poking each other's shoulders and giggling when the other flinched. McGonagall swept out and lead them on into the Great Hall which looked a lot better than it did when Lanae and Louis had seen it a month earlier. The two twins suddenly noticed how they looked among the shorter 11 year olds and how they stood out. Of course their spiked hair and weird outfits that could be seen when the robes swept up also made them stand out.
When they stopped finally, the Sorting Hat was brought out and sat upon a four legged stool, the two had to struggle not to smile. The tear along the brim opened suddenly as the song that Lanae had taught it earlier began to pour out into the Hall echoing off the walls.
When the song ended everyone just sort of stared at the hat in confusion. Lanae and Louis both snorted suddenly making everyone turn and look at the two who instantly made their faces innocent as they stared at the floor being the very picture of innocence. McGonagall suddenly coughed lifting the hat and pulling out a scroll of names. She began to call out the names as the hat sorted them accordingly. She obviously skipped the two twins as they clambered up to the platform anyway after the sorting of the others was over. Dumbledore stood, waving his hand toward the two who suddenly had cracked into identical smiles.
"May I introduce my two grand-children Lanae and Louis Juneau. They will be staying here for an entire school year and will be attending normal 5th year classes with the other 5th years in whatever house they get sorted into. I trust you all will be nice to them." Dumbledore sat down suddenly as McGonagall motioned for one of them to sit on the stool.
"I don't wanna go first...you go first Louis."
"Hell no. You go."
"No way! You."
"Like I said, no way in hell. You go first. You were born first."
"I was born only one second before you! That doesn't count!" Lanae suddenly raised her voice.
"Oh it doesn't count now! But it counted before whenever there was the last of the ding dongs or twinkies!"
The argument went on for quite a bit before a loud cough interrupted the two. The two looked up to see Hagrid standing there. Lanae grinned nervously waving her hand in what looked to be a feeble gesture.
"Uh, hullo there Hagrid. Nice evening ain't it?" Hagrid gave Lanae a look as he steered her toward the stool and shoved her down onto it. She blinked jumping up before the hat could touch her head pushing Louis onto the stool. All of this took only a few seconds as the hat was placed onto Louis's spiky head. After a bit of silence the tear opened again roaring out...
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Lanae's mouth dropped as Louis headed down to the table where she suddenly spotted Ginny and her brothers. Them and the Harry fellow. Louis cleared a spot next to him smiling and shooting a thumbs up as she smiled and sat down onto the stool. The hat was pushed over her head as she suddenly heard the voice of the hat in her ear. After a bit of mumbling and protesting on Lanae's part that she had to be in classes with her brother the hat finally opened the tear again roaring out...
"SLYTHERIN!" Lanae jumped up as the hat was taken off her head. She bristled in anger as she spun to face the hat, her wand out.
"You basterd! You piece of crap! You-" Lanae let loose a stream of swear words that shocked the students in the hall as she finally spun to go to the Slytherin table after being told off by McGonagall. When Lanae slipped into an empty seat next to a pug faced girl Dumbledore stood and said a few words that passed by Lanae completely. Food appeared on the plates as Lanae smirked standing and moving to the Gryffindor table. People paused to watch her as she suddenly plopped down next to Louis, pushing a blushing Ron aside.
"Lanae? Aren't you supposed to be over there at the Slyt-"
"Yea yea. But I can't eat over there. Gotta be with you bro." Lanae smirked as she suddenly picked up a chicken drumstick and waving it at Louis. Louis smirked as he picked up one also the two beginning to spar with the drumsticks. It would have been an amusing scene had Ron not been trying to move Lanae out of his seat. Suddenly Louis jabbed his drumstick forward hitting Lanae straight in the stomach. She groaned clutching her stomach and falling back out of the seat onto the hard stone floor. Students from the Gryffindor table and Ravenclaw behind them both turned to look at the sprawled form of Lanae who was coughing and gagging in quite an obscene way. Several students began to giggle as Louis picked the drumstick out of her hand tearing a chunk out of it and smirking at his twin who stood and plopped back down into the seat.
Much to the amusement of Louis and several other Gryffindors near she began to play with the food laid out. Some mashed potato's with gravy was piled into an excellent liking of Dumbledore while a pair of olives became his eyes. Suddenly Lanae picked up the plate and walked up to the head table where she placed the sculpture in front of a surprised Dumbledore.
"Here ya go gran-I mean Professor. An exact liking of you made out of mashed potatoes. Ja ne." Lanae grinned running back down to the table where she spent the remainder of the time making 'sculptures' of the other teachers and giving them to the teachers sitting down at the staff tables. It was quite amusing and when she finally finished sculpting she struck up a conversation with Seamus who was laughing with Dean about a joke. Louis turned to the two red head twins that were sitting across from him, speaking in a low tone with them. Ron kept shooting dirty looks Lanae's way as she kept glancing over at Ginny and sighing heavily. Ginny caught her staring once in a while and every time her eyes met Lanae's lust filled ones she blushed red to match her hair before turning away briefly.
Dumbledore stood as the food disappeared from the plates. He said a few words that passed by Louis and Lanae who were busy trying to poke the plates into giving more food.
"Damn it...I wasn't done eating. Stupid plates." Lanae huffed as she threw her fork into the table causing it to be embedded into the wood. She blinked as everyone began to stand and move out of the hall. She stood along with Louis and was about to head off to wherever his house stayed when a Slytherin perfect walked over and tugged her away to the group of Slytherins that were snickering.
"Talk to you later Lanae! I'll try and Um...send an owl post ya know?" Louis grinned as Lanae only sulked and shot a glare at him before heading down the stairs to where she knew the common rooms for the Slytherins were. Louis headed the other way already deep in conversation with the two twins who were grinning as they heard him. Lanae stayed as far back from the others as she could, hating the way they all looked at her with a certain distaste. Once they reached a wall the perfect said the password(Kill the Lions!) as the wall slid to reveal the dark common room. Lanae slipped in last as she put the password to memory. She followed the pug faced girl who led her to a dormitory where a fresh bed with emerald sheets sat next to hers.
Lanae could only sigh as she immediately began to rummage in her trunk for a piece of parchment and a muggle ink pen and a black cloak. With a quick motion she tugged the hood of her cloak on over her spiked hair before moving out of the common room and on up to where the Gryffindor common rooms were.
Louis was deep in conversation with the two twins when they stopped at a painting of an extremely fat lady in a pink dress. She asked for a password which went way over Louis's head. The twins stepped forward saying the password (Boggart) while the picture swung forward revealing the common room of Gryffindor tower. Louis was climbing inside along with the twins when a sudden yell behind him made him stop in mid step. He briefly saw his twin running toward them when the picture suddenly swung shut shutting her off from his vision. The two twins dragged him over to the boy with black hair, the boy that his sister called a prick, the girl Ginny that she liked, and a new girl with bushy brown hair who were sitting by the fire. Just as they were getting introduced a sudden banging at the portrait hole sounded along with a yelling that was very familiar.
"Damn it! Just me in! My brother is in there and I need to speak to him!"
"I'm sorry but if you don't have the password you can't come in." The Common room went unnaturally silent as people crept to the portrait hole to listen to the interesting argument.
"Password? You want a password? I'll give you a password you fat bitch!" A gasp from the Fat Lady was heard as Lanae roared in anger.
"Kiss my ass! There's your password! Now let me the hell in!" Huffing was heard from the other side as the Fat Lady stammered to say that she couldn't let the girl in without a password. A scratching sound and the scream of the Fat Lady was heard as Lanae forced the portrait open. The people crowded at the hole gasped as she fell in while the picture fell shut over the hole. She immediately stood grinning and walked over to Louis while shoving people aside that stood in her way. All in all she looked a bit insane as she stopped in front of the group mentioned above.
"Hey Lanae...what is it that you want that you had to force your way into my house for?" Louis was a bit irritated as he was in a deep conversation with the twins.
"I need to talk to you. Come on. Let's go cause a little mischief." She grinned winking and motioning to her robes. The two twins jumped over as soon as they heard the word 'mischief' and stared at her.
"What kind of mischief?" Fred quirked his head at his brother, their hands resting on either shoulder of Louis, keeping him rooted to the spot.
"The kind of mischief that involves a toilet and fire crackers. Want to join in on it?" The two twins grinned as they tugged Louis to his feet. The group of four moved to the portrait hole and moved on out it. Lanae turned to grin at the Fat Lady before they walked on downstairs to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom.
"This'll be the perfect place. Us three will wait out here and stand guard. You go on in and place a big one in the one next to Myrtle." George grinned as the group of three boys leaned against the wall talking in low voices about Quiddich while Lanae slipped into the bathroom. She went into the stall next to the famed Moaning Myrtle's and took out a M80. She flushed the toilet allowing the water to disappear before she lit it and threw it into the toilet. She ran out of the bathroom and down the hall the three boys following her. A loud sound behind them confirmed the fact that Lanae had done it as the group ran back to the tower, the twins yelling the password as they clambered in.
Ah the end of the 3rd chapter. I hope you all look forward to the 4th chapter because for all of you who dislike the Ginny/Lanae thing, it changes drastically after this chapter. Till the next chapter....Banish those Boggarts! No wait....that's wrong....I mean-
